  • This guy is a superb player!!! And what kind of banjo is that?

  • I would also love to know what tuning this is.

  • nice!

  • High definition from 1969?

  • @AzathothianBrew Ha ha! :-)

  • Very impressive. It's time the versatility of the banjo is shown. The guitar has gone thru so many evolutions and is a staple in so many other genre's of music while the banjo has stayed in a time warp. Bravo for taking it out of the appalachian mountains and showing what else this beautiful instrument is capable of.

  • Thanks so much, glad you appreciate the music!

  • I've always thought the Banjo can be played to have a very exotic sound.

  • this is amazing. this is exactly what i've been looking for. how did you tune the banjo?

  • thank you... i just create an open tuning by ear, one that has that droning Indian sound...

  • Very nice job! :D

  • whats the tuning for this? i have a banjo and i want to try this.

  • Om Mani Padme Hum ... well done. To get a more sitar like sound (yours is pretty good) get a set of "Mizrabs" ... sitar fingerpicks.

    Cheers,

    Boog

  • Right on, thanks so much for the feedback! Blessings.....

  • very nice video 5******& shared

  • Thanks! So glad you enjoyed it. Peace...

  • i just recently bought a banjo... and this is exactly what i want to be able to do with it...

    thank you...

  • sounds more middle eastern than indian...but it's still nice to see a banjo played in a different way

  • Leave it to Ari Maharishi III to make a banjo sounds like a sitar! I knew Ari to own a six-pawed cat ("six-paw Mc.Graw"). This is the same guy that led me into the Black Hills of Baja where dwelled some seriously powerful and scary ass spirit stuff - I was freaked!...Ari was unfazed. This guy is seriously GNARLY! If ever there was a dude who in all truth roams the supernatural realm, I present to you this SICK-TAR player, ARI MAHARISHI THE THIRD!

  • You are an impressive person on several levels. Good job =]

  • Middle eastern tuning and playing style. Good job. Now I just need to find a banjo.

  • Thanks, glad you dig it!

  • same question- is that open g tuning? i know dadgad is a good tuning for sitar style for a guitar (a la Davy Graham)

  • actually i'm not quite sure. there are only 4 strings left on this ol' banjo and i kind of just tune it up by ear and see how it goes.

  • Cool!

With any luck Santa will have a banjo in his sack for me this Christmas. I need to look up my Indian scales!

  • beatiful thats you?

    sound alike

  • i wonder if i can make a guitar-sitar fusion??

    it would be guisitar?

  • they already exist

  • @guitarristaeluli no, it would be citarra

  • this is really great ha!

  • Beyond belief! You transported me to India. How in the world did you figure out how to make a banjo sound like a Sitar?? Wow! I could listen all day.

  • Ari you rock dude!! Miss ya

  • Very cool-I have never heard a banjo played in a sitar-like fashion!
