  • D'aww, it's so cute :3

  • it's sooo true that if there's one thing we love more than ourselves it's our dogs.. lol

  • I showed this movie to my mom, who's a real dog lover.

She never really said anything, but I'm oretty sure that she HATED this scene.

    Wow, I am a douche.

  • the real monster is man.....

  • Its part real husky part fake if you look closely chilling scene

  • that dog deserves an oscar! better than most young actors these days!

  • Dog transforms into a vagina.

  • Great scene. I've always wondered how the director got the Thing-dog to walk and act like an alien dog. If you notice the dog acts like it doesn't know how to act like a dog when walking into the kennel. Genius!

  • Poor dogs. Damn you, thing! I hope PETA will get you for this!

  • Dog 1: Hey you! You woke me up!

Dog 2: We been Treading Snow all Day!

Dog 3: You can just barge in here!! *all 3 growls at intruder dog* Dog/Thing: You Mutts Really Are Pathetic Waste of cellular structure.. Oh well.. I guess you 3 will have to do then.. * Dog Rapidly Mutates* *Face Splits Open* *Tentacles Break through back of Dog* *Thing Starts Assimilating Other Dogs*

  • Horror from the 70s and 80s will always own most of the stuff from today.

  • :"( I HATE THIS poor dogs

First, a kick in his face

Second, shred his stomach with a katana

Third... DESTROY EVERYTHING WITH THE MINIGUN!!!!

(sorry for my english... I'm italian)

  • Freaky

  • 2 things....

    1, holy shit.

    2, the fuck?

  • not the husky

    D:

  • Poor Dogs I Hate You The Thing

  • Steven spielberg is a great director but his movie E.T sucks compared to John Carpenter's The Thing

    Does anybody agree with this??

  • The Thing did poorly with critics because it was too intense, too dark, too disturbing and too bleak. People in the 80's wanted feel good movies with happy endings. They wanted ET eating reeces pieces, not a dog transforming into an alien parasite. It was only later did people realize it's genius and quality as a horror film.

  • this is the reason i enjoyed when the thing died so much.

  • I saw this when I was 11 and I was scared sh!tless than anyone or anything was one of these things and I didn't know it...

  • 1:19, which reminds me of the dog from resident evil 5 (biohazard 5) game.

  • @seclusionloner U mean RE 4...

RE 4's dog wuz before RE5 xD

  • To bad the dog dies, its so cute!

  • Awwww poor puppy

  • The dogs just sitting there in the beginning like, "As soon as he leaves, Imma f*** all ya'll up."

  • LMFAO THOSE DOGS SHITTING THEMSELVES FOR REAL

  • Wait, Ive never seen this movie but i want to so do bullets have no effect or was fire the only thing on hand?

  • @cryptidclubleader well, its a outpost for meteorology, not a military operation. so in express, fire was likely used for welding operations and fuel, where they modified it for alien killing.

  • @robloxfan459 Oh I see. THanks for the reply. You're a bit late though... XD

  • NEVER eat while watching this crap. just a tip.

  • jeb the wolfdog acted so well it was kinda spooky

  • Best movie ever, except for DAWN of the DEAD

  • i saw this movie!

dude it was the best thing i have ever saw

how can you be so creative to make awsome mutans like these

now im gonna buy this movie!!!

  • VERY FUCKING AMAZING EFECTS have this movie for his year :O

  • I would like to know how they recordet it the movie is crazy I wathced it yesterday and I was freaked...

  • Man, that alien scared those dogs, they trying to get out of the cage. One of them was biting their way out!

  • If anyone still thinks people wouldn't be aware of being a thing or not.......just remember the general rule:

    "I think, therfore I aren't"

    I made that quote =)

If your wondering if you are a thing, you aren't because you'd be long gone with a doppleganger as your replacement.

  • its so creepy how this looks i mean there are faces and hands growing on faces and hands

  • Lol 1:56 i Jizz on you!

  • .45 ACP pistol, 5.56 M-4 (3 round burst) rifle, shotgun & flame-thrower. Plenty of ammo, magazines & napalm. Body armor & hand granades....starter pieces to your 2012 survival kit......

  • dont forget velcro so you can strap them to your body!!

  • see the thing knows whats going on..but what i don't get is why dose it think it's in danger and needs to defend it self...thats what it dose when it becomes the forms it dose only when it is in danger,,,makes me think

  • Poor doggies

  • Well i see the point of the barfing only helps spread the thing faster.

  • one of my favourite movies

very good scenes , well acted

  • fuckin a that's intense

  • what happend to the other dogs

  • it said to be continued trust me i seen the movie yeah youll need to see the other part :)

  • Why is this the only clip of this movie i can find on Utube??

  • i lost my copy of the DVD and when i get another one i'll post the other parts. so far no luck :(

  • @DecadentDisturber so far no luck two years after :(

  • @adzyman125 not sure if youve noticed since this post but the whole movie is up now. just look up the thing part 1

  • @adzyman125 I realize you wrote this 2 years ago but I just thought I'd let you know the entire movie is on youtube now lol

  • shit, this film scared the crap outta me when i saw it first time round couldn't sleep for days

then again, I was only 12 lol

  • i believe this can scare any1 to sleeplessness, if viewed in the right moment of course..

  • True. I couldn't sleep for three days after seeing this film, but that was after the Blood Test Scene.

  • Yah, when I was young I saw Stephen King's Night Flier.. god I couldn't even look at it hahah.

  • @GAF1987 saw this when i was twelve to, it didnt scare me but i loved it

  • Stan Winston R.I.P.

  • Amen to that Brother!!!

  • Yeah, I learned that from one of the DVD featurettes. I was wondering for years why Winston got this credit and they revealed the reason. And you can't tell, well I couldn't.

Stan's work blended with Rob's seamlessly.

And Stan didn't even demand any sort of credit, he just wanted to help out Rob.

From what I know hearing about Stan Winston, we lost a great man AND a great artist when he passed away June 15. At least his work will remain.

  • I lost my DVD copy of the thing and couldn't put up all the other cool monster sequences. I'm getting another copy real soon so I'll bring you the other cool monsters!

  • For some reason [it may have been a crushing schedule] Rob Bottin needed help with this sequence, so Stan Winston came in to do the effects for this scene and he saved the day. Stan didn't even ask for a credit, but Carpenter gave him a special thanks in the end credits. Nice guy Stan, and now he's no longer with us. Great scene and thanks for posting!

  • Stan came in because of budget and time restrictions, you're right. And oddly enough with such a low budget Carpenter managed to make something so realistic. Carpenter, and Winston are great artists!

  • At first (before I watched the dvd) I didn't know they used a puppet 'stand-in' for Jed, like at 00:50, that was the puppet. And the scene where the alien starts breathing funny.

  • I remember seeing this when it premiered on TV. This was one of the few movies that made a lasting impression on me; if horror films where more universally accepted, it would have been equal to the Star Wars trilogy. For suspense, action, and special effects, this remake stood a head above everything else at the time.

  • In the movie, it showed a dog that looked melted, was it the same dog that was sprayed???

  • Yep, it sprayed acid at it and assimulated it.

  • lol Does anyone else notice how much bigger the aliendog is compared to the others lol Amazingly enough that didn't tip the men off

  • it may just be the screen, or angle

  • One thing I don't understand, is that it was already a dog, why did it attack the other ones?

  • the alien came to assimilate the population. it's purpose was to exterminate all life. when blair does the analysis of the cells the computer tells him that the entire world would be assimilated in 2 months or so.

  • I thought it was there because it crash-landed?

  • it did crash land but i dont think it intended to land on earth in the first place. i'm somewhat confused myself about it

  • it was 27000 hours, or approximately just over 3 years, which is amazingly fast

  • it attacked the other ones so it could assimilate them. if you watch the movie again, macready sais later on that it wants to assimilate anything that threatens it. like it did with the norwegians, the dogs and everybody except mac and childs.

  • At outpost31dotcom, it says that it attacked because it was the middle of the night (although the way it was edited showed otherwise) when everything was calmed down. It started breathing louder, to me, that makes it look like it was preparing to attack anyways and the dogs started to pick up on it. They did nothing until it started breathing differently...

  • this vid owns. thanks for posting it

  • Just in time for winter! Good lord! Thise scene still sends me chills!

  • What about the rest of it?

    I like that scene!

  • the rest is coming.. dont worry

  • Yay! Thank you!
