As the caption says ASTM C1437 aka "Test Method for Flow of Hydraulic Cement Mortar". ASTM C173 is a Test method for Air Content of Freshly Mixed Concrete by Volumetric method not even close. That cool looking machine is as Flow table made specific according ASTM C230.For your convenience get a new copy of Annual Book of ASTM Standards Section Four, Vol 4.01 & 4.02. You'll be surprised what you've been missing.
Technically true as the reference documents speaks for itself. The slump test as mentioned here is a misnomer as often refered by laymen or people who cannot really tell the difference between the two here in our site. Thanks for pointing it out, our european consultants should know better before refering it as a slump.
this isnt the slump test that i was taught in uni. its either slump or flow or the hopper one. may i know whether is this some sort of modified/combined method that u guys use in the states?
Look at the slump test that I've uploaded, the video is a lot clearer and there is narration.

Thank you for posting.. So, the table has to be dropped 25X is that right? at high speed? 'cos i don't have and cannot find ASTM C230.. thank you..

right 25 times in 15 seconds it's quick. You can find this procedure in ASTM C1437, C230 is the specs for the flow table.

yup, you're right. I was very wrong

Interesting, but that's not ASTM. At least it's not C 173.
Pretty cool looking machine though

This aint a slump test. ASTM C1437 - 07 is Standard Test Method for Flow of Hydraulic Cement Mortar.
There is a slump test ASTM C 172.
There is another test to check concrete's workability - vebe test ASTM C1170.
