My friend has an 09 silverado with the 5.3. At 50k miles it started ticking loudly. Turned out it collapsed a few lifters. Now 20k miles later it is again ticking even after a complete upper rebuild of the engine. Chevy does not make trucks like they used to.

I know what parts you would have to replace on a Silverado to keep it going 340,000. We repair many a Silverado. Now do Asian imports break well yes but they tend to have very high miles in comparison to the domestic with the same repair. For instance GM fuel pumps OUCH !!!! what an insurance for us.

My friend has an 09 silverado with the 5.3. At 50k miles it started ticking loudly. Turned out it collapsed a few lifters. Now 20k miles later it is again ticking even after a complete upper rebuild of the engine. Chevy does not make trucks like they used to.

There r alot of 5.7s out there no shity chevy had a quad cam set up with twin vvti mine get 22.3 mpg and chevy was using sparkplug wires up to recently that oldschool and don't lose cylnders and it reliable .
