  • Here are some facts. They speak for themselves.1) US health care is the most expensive in the world in terms of % of GDP -- about 60% higher than Europe, Japan, and Canada. 2) We are 42nd in the world in lifespan. Our in infant mortality is approaching many 3rd world countries. 3) Medicare in the US has about a 3% administration cost. Private healthcare is about 25%. 4) We are the only developed country that treats health care as a commodity provided on ability to pay rather than medical need.

  • All politicians who vote in favor of the Akaka bill (S.310/HR.505) should be required to become a member of the new nation and give up their American citizenship for if this bill becomes law Hawaii will surely secede from the Union.

  • Hawaii is the most integrated spot on earth. The Akaka bill, creating a separate nation only for Hawaiians will hurt and divide our state. When our government gives preferential treatment to one group based on race it creates rivalries dangerous to political stability, divides our society along racial lines and hurts genuine economic growth. The county, state and federal government should stop discriminating in Hawaii.

  • Why would you trust the government to provide health care in a more efficient manner?

  • You can't trust the gov't with a new puppy, let alone your health. Just try to get an emergency operation in Canada. Go look at StuartBrowning, he's got some great examples.

  • Brian's answer to everything is reduced taxes. Well, how do we pay for millions of kids who don't have health insurance, and whose families can't afford it? He has more concern for the poor insurance companies that are making billions of dollars in profits while the rest of us go broke paying the bill. The health care systems in Canada and Western Europe have better outcomes in terms of lower infant mortality, longer life spans, and lower cost per citizen. I'll take single payer.

  • The federal government is not an efficient way to dole out health care resources. Reducing taxes and cutting spending are solutions to the problem of federal government bloat. Market based solutions to our health care crisis are better than creating a "single payer" socialist system. You ignore the low growth rates of Canada and Western Europe and put too much faith in government to solve economic problems.

  • Thank you Congress for making the USA more like Europe.

  • i hope that isn't sarcasm toaster
