A true Christian would not judge you, but accept you for who you are and be there for you if needed. Even Jesus was friends with a former hooker and people could not understand how He could associate with her. Whether what someone does (or lives) is right or wrong is NOT for any human to decide. That is playing GOD. Just to let you know, there are good Christians out there. Remember, WE ALL BLEED RED. Big hugz from Fukuoka Kyushu Japan.
If my memory serves me correctly, you did mention a boyfriend in one of your videos years back. I have been wanting to hear your coming out story ever since. This vid did just that. Thanks!
Oh and we actually got see what the man behind the camera looks like!
I don't care if you're gay, lesbian, black, white, yellow, striped, checkerboarded or whatever.
You're doing cool videos and seem to be a cool person with humor (from what i can tell in the videos.. remember uxwbill's LEN SCAPON? lol)
My bro is openly gay, and I don't give a shit. He's still as cool as he was before I knew about it. Actually knowing it just makes it easier, cause you don't have to worry about "can I say this now or would he be offended" during conversations or stuff like that..
@Knaeckebrotsaege I am about the same as you I can care less what people are and Vwestlife does good videos in things that other people think is junk.
Nice video! I think the most important contribution you make on YouTube (besides this one, which I hope helps people who feel alienated and alone) is the audio and electronic information you post - stuff that needs to be shared before it gets totally lost. Technology doesn't care about sexual orientation - after all, you can type anything sexual into a command line interface and the computer will be totally confused! But then again, they're making advances in robotics every day!
Great video! I sat for three months dealing with my family crisis alone and I never thought about saying anything about it here on YT but once I did I found that 99 % of the folks who saw my video were positive and supportive. No matter what you do, there will always be someone out there who wants to give you crap... But, there are so many wonderful people in the world and you find pretty quick that the ones who support you far out number the haters. Don't ever be afraid to reach out! :) JC
I remember coming out as a lesbian only three or so years ago... although I knew I was a lesbian since I was at least 13, but didn't come out as bisexual until 19 :) I was still a bit confused as to whether I was bisexual or a true lesbian for years after that...
Great video. Living in small, conservative towns most of my life kept me somewhat sheltered from a lot of things. It was the internet (webtv) that really helped me with my coming out phase. I was able to "meet" other people online going through the same inner turmoil as myself. And they helped me realize that it was okay to be me. That being gay didn't mean having to fit a stereotype. I could be me and still like working on cars, tinkering with stuff, being blue collar, etc.
Hey, would it be alright if i made a video response to this sometime? Coming out isn't relevant to my sexual orientation, but I do have opinions and stories to share that this video made me really think about.
It's videos like these that will push the world farther and make it a better place. It's hard to believe that in the 21st century, things like this are still an issue!
I forget how it came to me, but in the 3 years or so I've been watching your videos, I've pretty much always figured you were gay. I remember the first hard evidence though - someone commented on one of your videos once calling it gay, and you replied something like "So am I, so that works out pretty well!" - best comeback ever!
Hope it goes well for you. I think it's harder for guys to come out & I think there is more social pressure on guys. I am lesbian & I think we really have it easier. Even 20 yrs ago I didn't have any problems. Well, I did trip over my gun, got caught in the hanger & knocked the door off its track but other than that it was pretty easy. In all seriousness, I would hope,in this day & age a young guy can come out & be true to himself without problems. Best wishes!! Be safe & take care of yourself!
@shananagans5 I'm a hetrosexual man and I must say your comments about it being harder for guys to come out and there being more social pressure on guys really doesn't surprise me for some reason, I don't know why it doesn't surprise me, but it doesn't.
@Lachlant1984 Yea, I see young guys coming out now having a harder time than I had coming out as a lesbian over 20 yrs ago. It is getting better though & as people get older & their peer group get older it gets better too.
Some people seem to think that just because someone doesn't "come out" that they are keeping their sexuality a secret. Sexuality itself is really not my favourite subject, but if someone at work asks me, then I'll tell them.
In my case I dont go out of my way to tell people im a queerosexual but if it comes up for whatever reason I dont hesitate to tell, People often cant believe it when they find out because I apparently in no way show it, we all know thats BS haha
I love seeing videos like this especially when it's from someone Ive been subscribed to for so long. I decided to come out last march, it was the best thing I ever did and it was videos such as this that helped me finally do it. thanks for making this and all your other videos
How did I miss this? Oh, I know... (grumbling) Damn YouTube. :-P
Your advise is good. I've done the same looking at others who were before me. Living in the South, it is very difficult.
Looking at the comments already here, I can see a small sampling of how well our society has accepted it or embraced it. I'm puzzled how some think you are trying to get attention. Out of 477 videos, this is the only one I see concerning this topic. Am I missing something?
I think this is a great video! I am not gay but I have a few gay friends and I have seen the effects homophobia has on them and its so dumb. The fact that people act that arrogant and ignorant and have no idea how much it upsets and effects people!
how give a shit if hes gay or not. he takes the time out of his day to make his videos to help us and till us things so just be happy about that. thank for all you do vwestlife
I have to say I think it's great that you were able to come out in your video. I actually did wonder myself if you were gay, and there have been times that I wondered if I was as well. Lately, I've been looking for a nice female friend, but NOT a girlfriend. I actually did a video here on Facebook explaining my issues. Feel free to watch it if you'd like, and I'd love to know what you think of it.
I figured out you were gay a couple years ago and I don't have a problem with it, I mean it's your choice. it goes against my Chrtistian upbringing but who am I to say "you're going to hell because you're gay" anyone who says that is also sinning. the Bible tells us gayness is a sin, but we all sin. That's why Jesus Christ was sent to take away our sins so all those who believe in him will have eternal life. people will probably bash me now for "Forcing christian beliefs" but that's not what I'm
@coolbluelights Sexual orientation is no more of a choice than whether you are left- or right-handed. And despite long-standing religious beliefs that being left-handed is a sign of the Devil (that's where we get the word "sinister" from -- "sinistra" is Latin for "left hand"), by now most people have accepted it as normal.
@vwestlife Welll... for me being left handed was a choice. i'm ambidextrous. I used to switch hands when I was in kindergarten and my bitch teacher made me pick a hand so I chose left because the pencil felt slightly better there. if she had let me keep switching I probably could write just as good with my right today. I write and eat lefty but do everything else righty :P
Well, you've directly confirmed your orientation in previous videos- I've known for a few months now- and it honestly has no effect on what I think about your videos, your interests, or even your personality (based on what I gleam from your YouTube channel/comments). Some of the comments in response to this video trouble me though, and I wish people could be more open-minded, even if it's not easy for them.
I think it's great that you did this! Why the hell not? I mean, as you said, you haven't before, and nobody's forcing anyone to watch your videos. This was certainly not 'shoving the fact you're gay' in our faces. I'm probably biased to a degree, since i'm bisexual, but seriously folks, get a grip. Stop trying to cover your fears by talking so loudly about the 'gay' issue. Grow a pair and get on with your life.
I think being gay is extremely wrong, but that is just my opinion. I will still watch and enjoy your videos as long has the "Gay" is not shoved in my face.
Although I never struggled like this, I admire your courage and honesty. Alot of people struggle and suffer comming out and its very tough. In the end what does it matter.. We all should love each other no matter what. Open heats, open minds and open doors. My grandma raised me like this and it was great. My parents knew because I didn't have a girlfriend and they opened me as there gay grandson. I was lucky. I have never been bullied for being who I am. Big Hugs Bud
The shear lack of respect for this man who can do whatever he pleases with his video account is appalling. He isn't different from any of us! Celebrities down to people at the water cooler talk about sex all the time. This is the one moment he even mentions a very personal subject like that and he's bashed for his views.
Yep... this is going to end the world. Now I have to unsubscribe because OTHERWISE THE WORLD WILL CRACK OPEN, FIRE WILL FALL FROM THE SKY and my sarcasm will break my hip. Keep doing what you're doing, the world's not gonna stop spinning. I'll keep watching your tech vids.
I subscribed to your channel yesterday, because of all the cool computer stuff. Yeah, people make a big deal about gays. I don't really give a crap. The only situation where I wouldn't even enjoy a gay person's video is if they are acting all sorts of girly and shoving the fact that he's gay in my face constantly, that drives me nuts, I've seen people. For me, whether I watch someone's videos or not depends on thier personality, not thier sexuality. Keep up the good videos.
I admire you making a video about this and I'm sorry a lot of your subscribers are not so accepting. I hope one day people will no longer be disturbed by any sexual orientation that isn't straight because we should judge people on their character and not who they fall in love with.
i like to think that these things are purely personal and not an issue on the large scale, just because they never have been for me.. but sadly, i'm probably wrong, and there are lots of worse parents and 'friends' than the ones i've had.
I subscribed to your channel because of your knowledge concerning retro electronic devices such as PCs. I enjoyed your vids. Now, I will unsubscribe. Not because I have anything against gay people, but because there are some gay people who feel they need attention. More precisely their sexual orientation needs to be put on youtube for millions to see. Good bye!
@Szederp Straight people put their sexual orientation on display nearly every day of the year, just by referring to their spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend, wearing a wedding ring, etc., and nobody thinks twice about it. If me putting my sexual orientation on display for one day out of the four years I've had this channel is too much for you to handle, then maybe you should seek professional help!
@vwestlife Don't bother responding to things like this. Some people just feel bad if they're not in the spotlight at all times. Don't point it back at them. If they can't handle you trying to be supportive to people who are likely going through a rough time, let them show their own foolishness for what it is. It's nothing worthy of your time.
@Szederp So it's OK for hetrosexual people to make videos about their sexual orientation on YouTube, but homosexual people can't do the same? That really doesn't make sense to me, I just don't get it.
Had a hunch after watching the video of your Westlife collection.
I'm kinda jealous. I know a (very) gay couple, and what I've learned from them is that gay people have all the fun. I can't even buy the subwoofer I want because it's "way too big and fugly."
Great video, man! I'm glad you feel confident with yourself and aren't hiding behind a closed door about your sexual orientation like so many are. You're exactly right, being gay or straight is no different than being right or left handed etc.
Good you made this video on this topic there are quite a few people, even in this day and age, who don't dare to do what you did. Perhaps for some watching this video may make it a little easier.
People should really consider it a variant of normal, it is no disease or affliction and not something you would need treat as some misguided folk seem to think.
Grazie Kevin "Amico Mio" for stepping outside of yourself so to speak, and putting "Decorum" aside for the benefit of our younger "Gayby" brothers and sisters, who are possibly enduring all of the "Angst" that still incredibly enough, accompanies the "Coming Out" process!
Your effort and "Share" here makes me, Bobby Griffiths' (Prayers for Bobby) old lover/boyfriend "Blaine" here, both grateful and very proud of you my friend! You Rock "Kevin Uomo Bello" (Beautiful Man) !
i think this will definately help because the way you word it has points that i haven't seen too many others make. i think just like any really important decision, going with your gut is important as well. great video, Kevin. i dunno how down to earth you are, but you seem very down to earth to me, and that perspective is definitely valuable.
Good video Kevin- By and large, I think people appreciate the personality first. Once people get to know you, it won't make a bit of difference. It's those that pre-judge before knowing you that you do not need in your life anyway.
Why hello there! It's nice to have more than a fleeting look at the man behind the camera! :-)
In all seriousness, I hope I live long enough to see a time when it's doesn't matter at all who you love, if anyone. I totally respect what you have to say here, and I hope it does help someone who may be struggling.
(I don't really know where I fit in...never dated anyone, never really wanted to, don't see myself in a relation of any kind. Just in case anyone's wondering on perspective...)
It's so great to put a face to the voice; i've been watching your videos for a while and now i get to actually see you,it's great. About the topic of the video,i think that does not change the fact that you are an interesting person and that you have a lot to show. Have a great year and all the best from the other side of the world!
Keep those videos coming Kevin :) I Like your devotion to old and obsolete technology. It is hard to come by really old pcs and other stuff where i live. People are throwing it at the dump, or the recycle police takes it in custody, sad but true.
i always knew you were gay, i saw a few clues on your channel before and in your video about that old toshiba satellite 410cs laptop you mentioned a boyfriend of yours in college and you bought a mac (that was a dead giveaway), but even though i always knew you liked dicks i still enjoyed your videos and stayed subscribed to your channel because homosexuality doesn't make you any less of a good youtuber than anyone else, it just means that god accidentally gave you a penis instead of a vagina
@wastedpills What do you mean by saying "and you bought a mac (that was a dead giveaway)"? Are you inferring that just because someone buys a Mac that means they're gay? If that's what you're suggesting, how does that work? That doesn't make sense to me.
@wastedpills A well known fact? I'm sorry, but you are so wrong, you're only saying that because you clearly hate Apple products don't you. My Mother is married and not only does she have an iPod and iPhone, but she has a MacBook Air and an original MacBook. My Step Father has an iPod Nano, my younger sister who is in a relationship with a young man has an iPod Classic and an iPhone, she's not gay, neither are my parents, neither am I. You've got no idea what you're talking about
I knew you were for a long time when you said something about your boyfriend in one of your older videos, but I don't mind it that you are gay. Only assholes discriminate against gays. I actually have some gay friends, I never felt awkward around them or anything weird. I don't care about who you like or what you are, your a person and every person is the same inside :)
@vwestlife Hey man... Nice to meet you "in person", haha (I haven't really watched all your videos, not sure if you're on screen in any of the previous ones)... I think it's great that you are willing to tell your story, in order to let other people know that the most important thing is to find self respect and acceptance within ourselves, rather than trying to find that in the outside... Thanks for the post, and have a happy 2012!!
just as long you dont start promoting this lifestyle of your i'll continue to watch yours videos. whatever you do in secret is your choice, but keep it there please.
@JalanSalur The only thing I promote is for gay/bi people to live openly and confidently. Of course, people who choose to be straight can still do as they please! :-)
@JalanSalur I agree with this. I still enjoy you videos Vwestlife (or kevin) but please don't shove it in our faces in new videos. Please don't go all Chris Crocker on us.
@CenaTv2 I've been true to myself since day one on this channel, so you won't see anything different now. And anyway, RolyUngashaaHD is far more fabulous than Chris Crocker! :-)
@CenaTv2 How would that even be possible? Coming out of the closet doesn't mean a person has changed; it just means they are now true and honest about who they've been all along. And besides, I have always been out of the closet on YouTube, so my videos have always been exactly as gay as I want them to be.
Much respect for you man. Its sad in quote advanced society there is hate for others. I have a best friend of mine come out to me and I see as no less of a person then I did before. Though his family essentially cut him out of there lives for it. Hell he was even over here for xmas dinner with me and my mom.
As long as you make videos like you've been doing, your sexual preference doesn't really matter. It's your choice. Hope you don't loose any subscribers just because you wanted to reveal a side of you that you haven't told anyone.
I'm not gay and to some extent I am homophobic, but I do respect you for who you are, your videos are really awesome, and I see no reason why Homosexuality should be looked upon so negatively, I mean people look at it like it's a really serious crime or something, you pay attention to the media and people are just really upset about it and I don't understand why, in particular it's the religious groups that really take very serious offence, they're all overdoing it.
I'm not gay, but I think it takes a lot of courage to come out, considering all the homophobia that still exists today. A person would be risking a lot; anything from losing all their friends, and their family disowning them, to getting physically attacked. It's great that you had a good experience coming out though. But things are changing very rapidly; not even 100 years ago it was wrong to be left-handed, and today it's rather normal. It will be the same for gays in the future as well.
,no homo , or no hate either , but i am never going into the closet to begin with !,still keep up with the good videos ,won't stop me from watching or supporting your page
how the fuck can you be gay? it shouldn't happen in nature, must be a deformity

The shear lack of respect for this man who can do whatever he pleases with his video account is appalling. He isn't different from any of us! Celebrities down to people at the water cooler talk about sex all the time. This is the one moment he even mentions a very personal subject like that and he's bashed for his views.
Shame on all of you hypocrites.

Takes a lot of courage to make a video explaining to a not understanding world. Good job and keep the new tech vids coming, VWestlife.

Yep... this is going to end the world.

Tr3vor42532 1 month ago
I admire you making a video about this and I'm sorry a lot of your subscribers are not so accepting. I hope one day people will no longer be disturbed by any sexual orientation that isn't straight because we should judge people on their character and not who they fall in love with.

Great to see you for the first time, and excellent video. I'm sure your story will be greatly appreciated by many.

i like to think that these things are purely personal and not an issue on the large scale, just because they never have been for me.. but sadly, i'm probably wrong, and there are lots of worse parents and 'friends' than the ones i've had.
anyway, you have my respect.

Good bye!
Szederp 2 months ago
This has been flagged as spam show
@Szederp Straight people put their sexual orientation on display nearly every day of the year, just by referring to their spouse/girlfriend/boyfriend, wearing a wedding ring, etc., and nobody thinks twice about it. If me putting my sexual orientation on display for one day out of the four years I've had this channel is too much for you to handle, then maybe you should seek professional help!
vwestlife 2 months ago 5
@vwestlife Don't bother responding to things like this. Some people just feel bad if they're not in the spotlight at all times. Don't point it back at them. If they can't handle you trying to be supportive to people who are likely going through a rough time, let them show their own foolishness for what it is. It's nothing worthy of your time.
strizzuth 1 month ago
@Szederp So it's OK for hetrosexual people to make videos about their sexual orientation on YouTube, but homosexual people can't do the same? That really doesn't make sense to me, I just don't get it.

Had a hunch after watching the video of your Westlife collection.
I'm kinda jealous. I know a (very) gay couple, and what I've learned from them is that gay people have all the fun. I can't even buy the subwoofer I want because it's "way too big and fugly."
Perhaps I should consider switching teams...lol

Great video, man! I'm glad you feel confident with yourself and aren't hiding behind a closed door about your sexual orientation like so many are. You're exactly right, being gay or straight is no different than being right or left handed etc.

Good you made this video on this topic there are quite a few people, even in this day and age, who don't dare to do what you did. Perhaps for some watching this video may make it a little easier.
People should really consider it a variant of normal, it is no disease or affliction and not something you would need treat as some misguided folk seem to think.

Ciao Bello!
Grazie Kevin "Amico Mio" for stepping outside of yourself so to speak, and putting "Decorum" aside for the benefit of our younger "Gayby" brothers and sisters, who are possibly enduring all of the "Angst" that still incredibly enough, accompanies the "Coming Out" process!

i think this will definately help because the way you word it has points that i haven't seen too many others make. i think just like any really important decision, going with your gut is important as well. great video, Kevin. i dunno how down to earth you are, but you seem very down to earth to me, and that perspective is definitely valuable.
lmull3 2 months ago

People are throwing it at the dump, or the recycle police takes it in custody, sad but true.

i always knew you were gay, i saw a few clues on your channel before and in your video about that old toshiba satellite 410cs laptop you mentioned a boyfriend of yours in college and you bought a mac (that was a dead giveaway), but even though i always knew you liked dicks i still enjoyed your videos and stayed subscribed to your channel because homosexuality doesn't make you any less of a good youtuber than anyone else, it just means that god accidentally gave you a penis instead of a vagina
wastedpills 2 months ago
@wastedpills You have a very strange perspective on it, but thanks anyway for your support.
vwestlife 2 months ago
@wastedpills What do you mean by saying "and you bought a mac (that was a dead giveaway)"? Are you inferring that just because someone buys a Mac that means they're gay? If that's what you're suggesting, how does that work? That doesn't make sense to me.
Lachlant1984 2 months ago
@Lachlant1984 it's a well known fact that only people who are gay or bisexual would buy an apple product of any kind
wastedpills 1 month ago
@wastedpills Just going by Apple's sales figures, that is physically impossible, or else half of the entire world would be gay!
vwestlife 1 month ago
@vwestlife half the world is either gay or bi!
wastedpills 1 month ago
@wastedpills Now you know that's not true.
Lachlant1984 1 month ago
@wastedpills A well known fact? I'm sorry, but you are so wrong, you're only saying that because you clearly hate Apple products don't you. My Mother is married and not only does she have an iPod and iPhone, but she has a MacBook Air and an original MacBook. My Step Father has an iPod Nano, my younger sister who is in a relationship with a young man has an iPod Classic and an iPhone, she's not gay, neither are my parents, neither am I. You've got no idea what you're talking about
Lachlant1984 1 month ago

Thanks for the post, and have a happy 2012!!

vwestlife 1 month ago
@vwestlife Sweet. I'm fine with you. I was just worried that you were gonna go all Chris Crocker on us :-)
CenaTv2 1 month ago
@CenaTv2 How would that even be possible? Coming out of the closet doesn't mean a person has changed; it just means they are now true and honest about who they've been all along. And besides, I have always been out of the closet on YouTube, so my videos have always been exactly as gay as I want them to be.
vwestlife 1 month ago
When you were still we're in the closet, did you manage to find a bf? After?

Much respect for you man. Its sad in quote advanced society there is hate for others. I have a best friend of mine come out to me and I see as no less of a person then I did before. Though his family essentially cut him out of there lives for it. Hell he was even over here for xmas dinner with me and my mom.

As long as you make videos like you've been doing, your sexual preference doesn't really matter. It's your choice. Hope you don't loose any subscribers just because you wanted to reveal a side of you that you haven't told anyone.
Amiduffer 2 months ago
@Amiduffer Actually it wasn't a choice, but I thank you for your support.
vwestlife 2 months ago
I'm not gay and to some extent I am homophobic, but I do respect you for who you are, your videos are really awesome, and I see no reason why Homosexuality should be looked upon so negatively, I mean people look at it like it's a really serious crime or something, you pay attention to the media and people are just really upset about it and I don't understand why, in particular it's the religious groups that really take very serious offence, they're all overdoing it.
Lachlant1984 2 months ago
You are brave for making a video like this. If you see anyone in trouble, I see you as the kind of person who'd reach out immediately.
SAIL4323 2 months ago
I'm not gay, but I think it takes a lot of courage to come out, considering all the homophobia that still exists today. A person would be risking a lot; anything from losing all their friends, and their family disowning them, to getting physically attacked. It's great that you had a good experience coming out though. But things are changing very rapidly; not even 100 years ago it was wrong to be left-handed, and today it's rather normal. It will be the same for gays in the future as well.
