  • how much does it cost??????????????

  • Why do people want to hear a floor pedal recorded direct? The biggest challenge with all floor processors is the way they match up sonically with guitar amps of different kinds. David Spann is a really fine player, but the demo is not a demonstration of a practical use for anyone outside of a studio, or who need to play direct to board at gigs. As for Spann, I'm a fan.

  • could anybody tell me what is the setting for the big lead?,,im trying to adapt in in my ST..urgent..

  • I'm going on tour this summer, and we're strapped for bus space, so I can't bring an amp. I'm playing through a PA, and I don't have a whole lot of money. I was wondering if anyone knew of any cheaper alternatives that will still give me the dynamics and versatility?

  • 2:40-2:43 ... clean that shit up man haha.

  • I've had it for 2 years and I love it. But i have one problem. How to switch on Noise Reduction?.

  • You've had it for two years and haven't found this? Lol... pres AMP och CAB at the same time.

  • Well, if I look past the awesome guitar player, I see mediocre at best.

  • Amazing player. Great demo. I love my TLSE.

  • I’ve been playing guitar for 48 years - many professionally. I have no connection with Vox. I’ve owned all kinds of gear. You CAN get some very good sounds from the ToneLab LE by building your own presets. Few of the factory presets are usable. Use a clean amp (such as a Fender Twin, Deluxe or a Jazz Chorus). If you A-B ToneLab sounds with the originals, many are surprisingly close especially the Uni-Vibe. Listen to the sounds INDIVIDUALLY to appreciate them fully.

  • Oh dear, Okay I'm going to sound like a complete idiot, please bare with me here, I'm just a beginner and please respond, you just plug your amp cord into it and it acts as an amp also right? Don't insult me, I'm just beginning

  • @gummyform Pretty close, you do plug your guitar chord from you guitar to the unit, but after that you need speakers of some sort. The best thing to use, i have found, is a keyboard amp with the treble and bass set evenly - that way, you are only getting the sound of the effect unit. You can, however, plug a pair of headphones if you just want to practice.

  • I was tricked by the amazing guitarist in this demo but to be honest Vox Tonelabs sucks big time..lol Good decent valve amp is the way to go with high quality stomp boxes.

  • I own a Tonelabs LE, I actually wanted to see if there was something I was doing wrong of if it's just an inferior, very processed-sounding unit. Sadly, after hearing/watching this video, I have my answer. Can anyone recommend an amp modeling unit that doesn't sound like it is coming straight out of a computer?

  • i cAUGHT bteween getin this or a tonelab ex just to have infrotn of my crappy 60 watt half stack hartke for gig this is cheaper but i reckon the ex probably sounds better especialy since it actually uses a tube

  • I'm not real sold on the unit, but David is a damn good guitarist. I don't understand all the criticism of him. I think you can only sound so good through a unit like this. If he were demoing the Axe-fx or a real amp, he would sound better.

  • what's stuttering John doing in this video????

  • how about using a real guitarist instead of some cheezy heavy metal player...

  • one of the few demo videos i've watched where i actually enjoyed the guitar work.. this guy is a pretty good player

  • hey if anyone is interested in buying a tonelab SE (which is better and does more), im trying to get rid of mine. i've only used it 3 times and it's literally in pristine condition. PM if you're interested.

  • i really don't like the way this man plays. imho.

  • this guy is good.

  • anyone think his guitar playing rocks, as some guy thinks his rhythm is off lol thumbs up if U think he is smoking aces

  • That guy has skills man, I bow to his skills

  • haha your a beast

  • the guy looks like george bush with a fancy wig....lol cant get over that. sweet playing though.

  • man this dude sounds just like Eric J and from Austin also lol

  • hmm.. interesting marketing technique: hiring a guy that doesn't know how to play the guitar to make a demo for your fx processor.

The tones on the LE are great, regardless.

  • @reghin79 I U fcking insane, he is an awsome guitar player, he would fcking smoke your crap ars all day every day, infact your not even worthy to play in the same room, have a nice day dip shit

  • @UKToneKing

Settle down there fellow. You haven't even heard me play and this isn't a japanese cartoon standoff. For all you know, I might be his teacher. And if I were his teacher I'd be very disappointed. The guy can't even hold his rhythm.

  • @reghin79 Guys of his age, generally don'[t have a teacher, not when vox emplyes them to demo their gear that is. Point out were his rhythm is off, as most of the demo was done without any backing track, so it was not keeping in time anyway, and as far as I could tell he played some pretty awesome stuff, your the only one to give negative feedback about his guitar playing, everyone else said he was smoking, that alone says some thing, seen as he got 330.00 views

  • @UKToneKing David spann has an MBA honers degree in music and also has the following bio Marshall, Vox, Korg Product Specialist 00-08 traveled the world. Band has done opening act with Stevie Ray Vaughn, Al DiMeola, Robin Trower, Yngwie Malmsteen, Johnny Winter, Pat Travers, BB King, Jon Schofield, Roy Buchanan.

Ron Wilson sat in with ZZ Top at Bush’s 2nd inaugural ball, also bassist with late Lightning Hopkins bluesman and influence on Billy Gibbons

  • @UKToneKing people opining 4 stevi ray va, don't need guitar teachers, and tend not to have rhythm problems, because the demo was about an effects pedal rather than a pice of music, people tend to focus on what the pedal can do not the latter, but all the same it was perfect, please point out were you thought he was off, no drummer so think it will b hard 2 pick inconstantces up, but feel free, I still say he could smoke U, as he gets to open with all the above and U don't, only the good make it

  • @UKToneKing I am not having a go, I am just pointing out what an awesome player David Spann is, and he is a very sought after guitar player, U don't get 330.000 views on youtube for an effects pedal, it was because they wanted to watch david, same as greg koch reviews, they come to wath him not the products

  • @UKToneKing

Well, if most people think that he is smoking, then he's smoking. Right ? Because, most people are trained guitar players and the few who say he sucks are surely strangers to the guitar. Good point.

But it wasn't David Spann that received 320.000 views, people came here for the Tonelab LE and David isn't quite cool enough to play it, it seems. In fact he sucks monkey tits. He's just plain awful.

  • @reghin79 well I guess you sat through the whole clip, me thinking only a fool would watch something that sucked bad, surely an expert would move on, anyway, U know he is not pain awful, guys don't get to play on stage with rock legends if they play crap, U know that right, or thought U might have pointed out exactly were you said his rhythm was off, ? would like to know were U were thinking 0.00 id he sucked that bad I am sure you can give me a few examples,

  • @UKToneKing

Got it. I will now proceed to pinpoint the part in which he sucks. It's the one between 0:00 and 6:43. You can't miss it.

I sat through the whole clip for two reasons: 1. I was interested in what the unit sounds like and I figgured I would learn a lot more about its FX and tones by watching the the entire demo and 2. musicians that suck this bad intrigue me.

I don't really care if he is more coherent, or sounds better on stage or even on a different clip.

  • @reghin79 I can tell your a beginner, as a guitarist playing the rhythm part of a composition supports the melodic lines & solos played on the lead instrument or instruments, & seen as he was the only 1 playing he did not have 2 do that, he just had to play his piece in a rhythmic pattern, which he did perfect, the reason U can not point any part out is because U would not know what to look 4 anyway, that is the only clear thing that is true, face it your a beginner, hope U keep the learning up

  • @UKToneKing If U want I can send U some links to some easy finger patterns, and some easy Rhythm parts, I can also point you in the right direction of some chord progressions, and some strumming patterns, let me know if your interested as I have some good ones what I use for students, and its no trouble as I like to encouraging people who are just starting out. Take care bud

  • @UKToneKing

Ok, you made me watch the video again so as to point out something that even a beginner would have picked up on.

2:37 to 2:40 - he taps a bit, noobishly, then jumps further up the neck about 7 halftones into an alternate picking motion and slips to the 8th halftone by mistake, then goes back to the right one.

He doesn't play with his fingers, he plays the guitar with his arms. His hands look very tense, his movement looks very indecisive. Reminds me of myself 10 years ago.

  • @reghin79 U pointed out 3 sec,s and the fact that he corrected himself kind of tells you he knows what hes doing, also mistakes are made, that does not justifies saying he can not play for crap, I have seen him do some really good Travis picking with some very technical patterns, not your average Joe kind of stuff. Also I thought you were looking at the vox effects pedal, and all the different sounds it makes, rather than his playing,

  • @UKToneKing I think everyone has an opinion, and not every one is for everyone else, but this guy is by no means a crap player as U put it, he can do some very technical stuff that takes years of practice, the kind of stuff he can play is not done after 5 years of playing, its done over 10 + years of hard work, if U have been playing since U were 10 U will know this anyway, I am not sure U could have done this at 10 mind, maybe U were being a bit adventurous when U said that,

  • Comment removed

  • @UKToneKing I know their are 10 yr old who can play really well, but they don't feel the music like an older person, they could not possible feel it the same way, as they have not experienced anything like an aged player, maybe your really good, I will look forward to watching some of your work, as I am sure their will be no mistakes in it with you being a perfectionist and all. Take care man

  • @UKToneKing

He misses notes all the way 2:33 or 6:07 + 6:10 , makes childish, unarticulated passes, 6:16 and falls out of rhythm somewhere between 0:48 - 0:55.

Yes, I've said it before, I was here mainly to watch a demo, but I can't deny it was hilariously entertaining.

  • @reghin79 I know it's been hilariously entertaining for me to he he I don't agree with the above, I even got a couple of buds who were round to have a look, and they said the same, the notes U are referring to are correct, Maybe yr right and we are wrong, but we have 80 years of music experience between us, so I am going to stick with that, but hey I respect your opinion and wish u all the luck, take care.

  • @UKToneKing You gotta consider that the complaints are coming from a guy whose only video is of Cacao pods. Time wasted trying to explain something to a guy who's too self conscious to post videos of himself playing. Shredders. There's millions of them and only once in a while they are musicians as well.

  • @hueseph

Post videos of myself playing the guitar? Why would I do that?

I don't require approval from the internet, nor am I narcissistic enough. I will say this about my compositions and delivery: I'm keen on fluency and shun ambiguity. If I were to release something, it would not be as dirty and neglectful as what I'm hearing from this demo.

  • @reghin79 Translation: you talk the talk but can't walk the walk. Where's your cd? Where are you on iTunes?

  • @hueseph

I'm walking a different walk. Composing and interpreting music are not part my profession. I don't even record all that much. One does not need iTunes uploads to state that another person is not a good musician.

By that logic, Justin Bieber should be able to offer insight on Beethoven or Chopin's work (and we should trust his judgement).

  • @reghin79 Something smells like feces. Oh right. I have to remember not to feed the trolls.

  • @hueseph

Hehe... good one. I never thought of it that way, but I suppose you could call this trolling.

However, that doesn't mean that I'm wrong.

  • @reghin79 2.23 can not be write, because he does not hit a note till 2.24, ?

  • @reghin79 I agree seems like they could have got someone better

  • @jooman77 Was that sarcasm? Because hey, we can all see your vids and they're nothing to write home about.

  • @hueseph do people normally write home about their videos? I dont even have any videos of myself because i cant afford a good setup to record with so i just stick to playing gigs. I play mostly sessions so ya i play allot of stuff and anyone who knows anything can tell this guy is not that good. Alex hutchings does demos for many companies and he is the real deal. this guy is just really sloppy and if you cant hear that then you are just not an experienced guitarist

  • @jooman77 Garbage. You're not exactly one to say. Alex is very good yes. But so is this guy. Sure he can be a bit sloppy, but look at how many styles he's covered in this demo. You on the other hand couldn't hold a handle to Mr. Spann. You couldn't and we both know it. So until you are as good as he is. Well, your opinion doesn't hold much weight does it?

  • @hueseph how do you know what kind of player i am? you have never heard me once so until you have heard me i dont think you are in any position to say im not as good as this guy. Ya he covered many styles but he played most of them very poorly. He cant even hold a candle to people who do that like carl verheyen. If i had to do a pedal demonstration gig i would have sat down and practiced my chops before i went and did it. There are tons of amateurs who could even school this guy.

  • @jooman77 Who are STATT then? That is not you? YOu seem to hold them in some regard and yet they aren't all that great. I've been playing as long as you've been alive and although I'm not nearly as good as my years should have me. I know enough that a guitarist worth his salt does not need to cut down another who is accomplished in his own right. David is not the greatest guitarist in the world but there are plenty worse out there. My brother would shred him under the table. Still. He is good.

  • @hueseph STAT is a band my friend is in that i did recording for. I dont mean to cut anyone down all i am saying is that i would have probably listened and appreciated this pedal more if i was focusing on the guys mistakes so much. He isnt bad but i think maybe this isnt his place to be in just yet. and i have been playing country gigs with guys 50 years old and I show up to my gigs prepared and ready and thats how you get paid and thats what builds up your rep.

  • @jooman77 As has been pointed out in a previous post David has toured world wide and has opened for Stevie Ray Vaughn, Al DiMeola, Robin Trower, Yngwie Malmsteen, Johnny Winter, Pat Travers, BB King, Los Lonely Boys, Jon Schofield, Roy Buchanan. Eric Johnson seems to think that Mr. Spann is "alright". Where do you stand against him. You've got a handy cam, you can post a vid.

  • @jooman77 Incidentally, writing home about something is a figure of speech. It means it's nothing special.

  • The modulation and delay effects on this unit are absolutely killer. The wahs are great. If you set the harmonizer on it to fifths, it sounds absolutely breathtaking. I'd say that almost every effect on this sounds better than its GT-10 counterpart. I don't think that there are a wider variety of effects on the GT-10, though, even though they don't sound as good. I own both this and the GT-10, and I actually use the GT-10 a lot more. Why? 40-second looper.

  • I DO think that there's a wider variety effects on the GT-10. Typo. My bad. If you gig with a band or have a proper loop pedal, I'd say that the higher sound quality on the ToneLab LE gives it the edge. If you're into goofing off in your bedroom more, like me, the looper and wider selection of effects is pretty important. I like that you can assign most of the effects to the expression pedal on the ToneLab. The best is when you are fingerpicking an arpeggio and suddenly reverb swells in.

  • Definitely not buying this one.

  • I own a line 6 x3 live a boss gt-8 and a tonelab. The tonelab rocks period guys so if you are after tone get the tonelab hands down

  • when i play my guitar with the tonelab le the sound changes drammatically to worse ...i think the problem is the amp/line options like the ap1 ap2 ap3 ln1 ln2 ...the manual suggests me to play with the ap's coz i use a simple 15watt amp but it sounds too bass and the sound has zero clarity..so im using ln1 but the sound is getting 2 fuking tremble boosted that is unbearable..what can i do pls help me....

  • LE or EX?

  • The second preset just screams Yngwie

  • @TheChuckNorris1997 not really, there are more guitarist in that style than yngwie... and the 2nd preset only had some few yngwie licks

  • guys got soul!

  • he likes Vai...lol

  • MUITO BOM...MAS O SOM TA MUITO PLASTIFICADO...TINHA Q BOTAR UM ENHANCER NA SAIDA DELA

  • The interface/hardware looks like my old KORG AX1500G. im not sure if that's a good or bad thing. The best interface effects/amp/edit i have used is in the POD XT Live but they break like shit. my $500 down the drain :(. I'll try this one or the Boss GT-10.

  • Big League sounds Boxxy, and very tinny??

  • Boss ME70 has Looper :D beat that

  • @sndgarden well loopers are cool, but ive never honestly been in a situation where i needed one. if i wanna mess with a looper i use my old amp, a line 6...i'd say the boss just has better effects than the vox in general

  • Can the tap tempo function be controled by an external midi footswitch ?

Or can the vox tonelab change the pressets of a tc electronic nova drive ?

  • This or Boss ME-70 ?

  • @SnuffD1 if you've got money to put into a multi-effect pedalboard, Line 6 M13 or M9 (no Exp. pedal tho)

  • @gabrieltsiry you can buy expression pedals though

  • great tone

  • this or Boss ME-70

  • @TheHornet79 ZOOM G9.2TT, its the BEST pedal, especially for the $300 price. it competes well with the boss gt10 and higher end line 6 pedals, which all cost $200 more

  • @TheHornet79 I'm going through the same thing dude. lol i feel this pedal has deffinately got more "life" to it. but thats just from what i hear. tone is entirely up to you and what you can make of it. I'm just trying to find something to get me a nice glass tone for my tele, so start comparing by what you play and what your style is.

  • Can this be plugged directly into a mixing console?

  • this guy is awesome.

  • forget this kind of stuff. get a cheap tube amp like a fender hot rod and start making music

  • @teenok007 some people live in areas where they HAVE to use headphones, as much as they wish they could simple use anolog pedals and a tube amp :(

  • can you plug this straight in a PA system?

  • I do believe i just fell in love

also, 6:10 - that motherfuck plays the 22nd fret on a 21 fret guitar!! ZOMFG!!

    \m/

  • is this a discontinued item ?

  • I have a Pod X3 Live but I'm getting Vox Tonelab Le this week. I've been using pod for 5 months , it's good but Vox has an amazing clean performance... For soft music or hard rock , Vox is not the best but the BEAST !!! Go with Vox.

  • @intaomri

    Hey,

Now that you've had both for a few weeks, which would you recommend to someone who doesn't have either and is gonna get either the Tonelab or the Pod XT Live?

  • @Canadianspunge

X3 Live is cool but so detailed. You get drowned in detail chaos. And also clean performance is not as good as Vox. If you're into soft rock , hard rock or blues, definitely VOX. At least it has a character. Pod is a good modeler but it does not have any specific sound.

  • @intaomri Ah okay. Thanks =)

  • bad acoustic setting

  • Do you suggest a specific amp to run this through?

  • The Fonz finally decided to hit Mr C up for a new Strat.

  • that sounds AMAZING for a direct recording! you have to remember its not even going through an amp. better than any multi effects pedal iv'e ever heard

  • man this beats the fuck out of my boss me20 am buying a vox tonelab le!!!!

  • Guys pleaseee help me i want to buy a vox tonelab ,st or le??

  • He speaks and acts like MAB!

  • he looks like a mixture of george bush and john travolta.

  • EJ tone and style - not too impressive.

  • WOOT david spann!

  • Wow, Very Cool! I want one! Awesome playing and tone as always David!

  • David Spann makes this look so easy - fabulous fingers!

  • Hi! What do you think about the acoustic simulator in the LE modell? Is it better than boss AC3, or much worst?

  • In my opinion the line 6 stuff has A much better sound than the vox stuff and I just finished watching about 30 videos. The vox just sounds like old digitech stuff to me. The line 6 m13 sounds better than any of this stuff. No offense to all of you die hard vox people, I was thinking about buying one, but the tone just don't sound near as good as the line 6 stuff. which don't sound great either.

  • I was wondering .... i have an Ibanez Jem, and i am loking forward to buy a multieffects proccesor.. and i stepped by this tonelab, will it give me a good metal sound with reverb and delay?? Can i bring out Vai's sound from this??? or Would i be able to have a blues sound??? Please answer me as soon as possible....

  • this thing sounds shit

  • Cant beleve anybody who is a bit of a real guitarist would even buy this!

I got Dunlop Jimi pedals and cant get enough of "Old crappy" pedals as my friends call them!

Most of them uses emgs and line6 crap!

  • Here is what I want to do, because I only get time to play at night, I don't wanna wake neighbours or disturb anyone, therefore headphones are a must.

I've got a bunch of mp3 backing tracks I like to play along with, can I plug the tonelabs le into my computer so I can listen to the backing tracks and play all through my head phones ?

  • that chorus sound is terrible

  • @toddlee83 I looked at at this this in order to get a single unit rather than tap dancing on pedals , I agree with you , the chorus is terrible

  • so could i plug directly into a PA system?

  • does it have a loop?

  • @lXJoseOleXl yes. It's labeled at Hold Delay. It's a looper

  • Texas turns out such wonderful players,

    Great going David!

  • Great multi-FX. I run mine through a Bill-m modded fender blues Jr on top of an avatar 1x12 speaker cab for live shows, and it sounds great!

  • The patches are cut off when they are switched aren't they?

  • @MrJackanthony Thanks for asking, if you change from a program with the same delay type...say "stereo delay" to another program with "stereo delay" the effect spills over to next program.

Changing between programs with same ambient FX, no cut-off.

    More details in manual.

  • @davidspann22 THat's good. Im beggining to really like this pedal. However I also have a boss gt-10 which is awesome and suffices for now. Thanks for the reply. Regard.s

  • How does Vox Tonelab Le works on Stereo Receivers ? I don't want to use processor with guitar amplifier. I need your answers.

  • Boss Me 20 or Vox Tonelab????? please anser :) nice playing

  • I'd choose the Vox, because of it's cool tone and the valve in it. But it' only my opinion.

  • @Lsamadesca vox tonelab or boss me 50 or me 70

  • What's the difference between the LE and the ST besides the size & price tag?

  • This Unit is made by Korg?

  • @Zhorellski No man.... Vox!

  • Comment removed

  • my tonelab sounds really bad idk why but the notes sound cut up and no sustain at all sound for short time Helpp me i have an tonelab st and ibanez rg 350

  • the sustain will probably be to the bolt-on neck ibanez

  • that will make the notes sound choped of and not ringing well and long??

  • I wanna be able to listen to a backing track from my pc on my headphones while I play along with my guitar sound coming through my head phones as well, are there the inputs for this ?

  • @freedomsoldier187

You could try the easy way,.. Use two headsets at the same time, Left ear = guitar, right ear = backing track, or the other way. This is how I do it, and it's working pretty well :P

  • my headphones cost $300 I'm not buying, and nah that is not what I want, I know the boss gt8 can do it. But I herd this is better for blues, sigh.

  • What amp/cabinet model does he uses for the nice lead sounds in this video?

  • Comment removed

  • i want to buy such an effektboard an be able to plug it on an amp. do i nned a vox amp or can i use any other amp? i have a laney lx12 amp

  • I'm very sure it's anykind of amp, all pedals can be plugged into any amplifier. You just plug the pedal board into the amplifier with a guitar cable.

  • Any amp will do.

  • you can use any amp, just make sure you have it in line (as in Guitar -> multi fx -> amp) and use the clean channel on the amp.

  • You win the DONKEY of the year award.....This demo actually changed my mind about purchasing this unit!.....YUK

  • :))))..absolutley right!!

  • i buy a zoom g2.1u because of the USB connection and the free 400$ cubase.

No more shitty cables around my laptop.

  • vox are shit

  • Just wondering, but is this a preamp only pedal, or does it have a power amp also? And if so, can i plug this into a cabnet withouth the head?

  • You can not plug directly into speakers, you need a power amp, head, or powered monitors.

  • But it can go direct into a PA system right?

  • Yes

  • @VOXampsforever could i plug my head phones directly in and hear sound?

  • @CommBreakDown yep theres an 1/8 inch out or use the L/R stereo or mono out for 1/4 inch headphones

  • @CommBreakDown Surely do. Anything with an output socket can have headphones connected to it, with the proper adaptor of course.

  • @deadringer13 I think you can plug the Vox Tonelab ST into a speaker without poweramp. Am I right?

  • @deadringer13 i tested it in the music shop, just pluged in the headphones and the sound was perfect. preamp does it's work perfectly. you don't need a head. headphones or speakers.

  • lol the solo at the begin kicks ass :S

  • nice demo !! ;) and I mean it

  • nice pedal. have one myself....but you sir fail epicly!!!!!!long live slash

  • I didn't mind the demo, but why was the sound so crappy? When trying to sell an audio product, you would think the company would take more care in the sound production. Sounded like it was recorded with an internal mic or something.
