As i understand it there is two seperate events: the taking up and then the 2nd coming. The rapture is for pre trib believers and the tribulation saints are those that become christian during the tribulation (after realising that Jesus is real maybe) and get beheaded refusing to take the mark. There is also a 3.5year wrath of God period.
