After reading all these comments it's clear nobody is a real tattoo artist. I am, so if anybody has a question message me.
And whatever you do, do not reuse needles and always use an autoclave to sterilize your equipment. If you're willing to spend cash on a kit, then be willing to spend some on making sure you do not spread any nast diseas's.
I appreciate the beauty of the art and am apprenticing. I got a question for yeah man. whats your take on self tattooing can it be done safely on ones arm without it coming out bad or whithout a threepoint stetch of the skin or is that best left till pro statis

There's a shite-load of competition out there so if your art isn't up to scratch then you have no hope.
I walked into a tattoo studio with a sketchbook full of realistic portraits done in pencil and was offered an apprenticeship on the spot based on that.
Walk in and ask? Most shops don't take on apprentices, unless they are a new shop with only one or two artists, then you might get lucky. You personality is your best weapon. ;)
if your useing a disposable tube use it once and throw it away.. if its a metal tube you must have an autocalve and a supersonic cleaner... NEVER REUSE NEEDLES :)
The power supply doesn't alter the speed, it alters the hit of the machine, ie: how soft and hard it goes into the skin.
Adjusting the contact screw alters the speed of the machine. The bigger the air gap the slower it goes (for shading) and the smaller the air gap, the faster it goes (lining) the typical dime and nickel settings should see you right. It is important though to know the sound of the machine, then you'll know to adjust other factors, like the tension of the rubber bands.

I would have to disagree there. Disposable tubes and grips are a waste of not only money, but think of the millions of pounds of trash getting dumped into the Earth at the landfill. Respect your Mother, and she will take care of you. Treat Her as a hazardous waste disposal, and She will do the same. ;)
The money you spend on disposable tubes will be much greater in the long run, over a good priced autoclave.

depends on the type of tube u r using.
now a days artists [even those working in studios] use disposable tubes .. so that the client has no issues regarding the hygiene and safety.
though sterilizing the tubes is okey but needles should never be re-used.
a new needle for a new tattoo!
