There is a reason that almost EVERY major conservative commentator does not consider Huckabee a conservative - because his record in AR proves he is not. Do conservative Governors aid and abet illegal immigrants/immigration in their states? Huck did. Do conservative Governors set records for raising taxes in their states? Huck did.
Theologically, would a conservative SBC minister side with Convention moderates (viz. liberals) against conservative believers? Huck did.
Giuliani and McCain are quite liberal. Both have much in common with Huck on immigration. The only difference is that Rudy ran a 'sanctuary city' for illegals while Huck ran a 'sanctuary state'. Rudy, however, cut taxes quite sharply, while Huck raised taxes. McCain was 1 of only 2 Republicans in Congress to vote against Bush's tax cuts.
Of the remaining candidates, Thompson, Romney, and Hunter all have MUCH more conservative records and positions on taxes and immigration than Huckabee.
Romney was pro-choice. Thompson is the only one that has not done much in government to have a good record to review. And Huckabee, a surplus was left from his conservative stance. The Fair Tax that many support is actually 30% not 23%. They are being deceptive in their calculations. A 100$ item will cost 130$ with tax, not 123$. I support a sales tax over income tax but there is no reason to lie about it.

Government has been established to defend our borders and our rights as free men/women. They collect tax dollars to assure we have as good an opportunity as anyone to do so. If the budget does not line up with the promises of "needed" spending, new and further taxes are needed. A lot of conservatives do not want taxes for social programming or hand out money. That is where most of the differences lie in the honesty of gathering taxes for communistic endeavors.

The truth is, most of the conservative leaders in the SBC are NOT supporting him because they know him - and understand that he is not a conservative - either politically or theologically.
Btw, the vast majority of political commentators (including Rush Limbaugh) realize that he is not a conservative either. They view him as a Populist with strong liberal tendencies.

There is a reason that almost EVERY major conservative commentator does not consider Huckabee a conservative - because his record in AR proves he is not. Do conservative Governors aid and abet illegal immigrants/immigration in their states? Huck did. Do conservative Governors set records for raising taxes in their states? Huck did.
Theologically, would a conservative SBC minister side with Convention moderates (viz. liberals) against conservative believers? Huck did.
And the list goes on.

Giuliani and McCain are quite liberal. Both have much in common with Huck on immigration. The only difference is that Rudy ran a 'sanctuary city' for illegals while Huck ran a 'sanctuary state'. Rudy, however, cut taxes quite sharply, while Huck raised taxes. McCain was 1 of only 2 Republicans in Congress to vote against Bush's tax cuts.
Of the remaining candidates, Thompson, Romney, and Hunter all have MUCH more conservative records and positions on taxes and immigration than Huckabee.

Romney was pro-choice. Thompson is the only one that has not done much in government to have a good record to review. And Huckabee, a surplus was left from his conservative stance. This was a heavy out of control government spending democrat state. Until the Huck came in and took the task to lower taxes and gather taxes to govern and rectify the problems that he received. The Fair Tax that many support is actually 30% not 23%. They are being deceptive in their calculations. A 100$ item will cost 130$ with tax, not 123$. I support a sales tax over income tax but there is no reason to lie about it.

I would rather pay NO income taxes and NO additional taxes on what I buy. And I would like to see the Federal Reserve be abolished along with it's army the CIA whom kills at will. Secret doings of the Gov. should be abolished and my privatcy should be PROCTECTED!! That is why I am going to vote

Well if you dont want to support the government to ANY degree then it would be no "sunny days" left for you because this country could no longer afford to protect itself. And by the way, Ron Paul, Huckabee and anyone else who wanted to abolish the IRS would need Congress to do it. So while I support a consumption tax I doubt its going to change anytime soon. Not with the Libs in congress anyway.

No sweet heart, in those days we had a country of people who DID, who ACTED and who GAVE. Unfortunately we have created a society who DOESNT, who WONT and who TAKES. I said "if that is "typical" of a RP suppoter"...and it IS. Yes, I think you can judge the character of a leader by the character of those following. Cuz quite frankly, I am looking for honest dialogue but I just keep getting insulted if I dont agree with 100% of what an RP'er says. I am over it and I have become deaf to the message. There are plenty of other candidates to choose from. I will never stand along side these types of people.

Yes, it's a free country, in which I can tell someone how to pick a President if I want and they are free to agree if they want. Someone IS free to not choose Ron Paul because they don't like some of his supporters, but that doesn't change the fact that that's a dumb way to choose a candidate. Have a nice day.

BTW, all IRS income goes straight to the Fed Res., NONE of it pays for any of these expenses! Actually Ron Paul can get rid of the IRS without Congress by appointing an honest attorney general who will investigate their true ligitimatacy.

I'm an Iowan and we had an ad running that showed the same information in this video. I, for one, am shocked Huckabee won the Republican caucus. I have done research on all of the candidates, and Huckabee will definitely not be the one I select on my ballot in November.

i know taxes are necessary! I'm a liberal! I find it curious that he supports higher taxes, which is essentially increasing government control over our money. i find this puzzling since traditional republican philosophy is for exactly the opposite, less government control.

Government has been established to defend our borders and our rights as free men/women. They collect tax dollars to assure we have as good an opportunity as anyone to do so. If the budget does not line up with the promises of "needed" spending, new and further taxes are needed. A lot of conservatives do not want taxes for social programming or hand out money. That is where most of the differences lie in the honesty of gathering taxes for communistic endeavors.

hey there kbred. i was not making a statement about whether taxes were necessary or that they were bad, but while watching this clip i found it strange that he was very supportive of taxation, which seemed to me to be a contradiction to the general philosophy of the republican party, which has traditionally been in favor of less government control and taxation.

Understand. Your tenor is refreshing. I do not believe that you have listened to those in the Rep. party. Fiscal conservative does not mean to not tax. It is a responsibility to those paying to use their proceeds to their fullest rather than a more liberal politicians who seek to grab money to look like a hero, as if they actually did something themselves.

If you would talk to us rather than yelling profanities, insulting good men like Mike, yelling "Ron Paul" with a dozen exclamation points, then you would most certainly get MANY more voters, maybe even people like me!
I am not trying to be facetious -- I like Paul and I hope that at least one of his supporters is listening and understands were I am coming from. Both Mike and Ron are good men and there shouldn't be attacks on either side.
