  • There's NOTHING like this anymore. A lot of people give Nirvana credit for ending the 'big hair' bands of the 80's. AIC put this album out in 1990. With PJ, Nirvana, Soundgarden and AIC all coming from the NW in the early 90's, I've always appreciated AIC as the most talent in one band.

  • How did this song ever see the light of day? It completely clashes with the dark tone of the first half of this album. Alice in Chains should have removed this and "I know somethin (bout you)" and Facelift would have been an even better album.

  • @85ihateposeurs

NO! Don't even try to justify the simple thought of fucking up this masterpiece. Go put your head down in shame now :)

  • @85ihateposeurs

When you realize that this was released on cassette tape, and that the second half of the album (starting with Sunshine) was the second side of the tape, it makes better sense.

  • @AENIMA42069

wait i think i fucked up, It ain't like that may be the first song on the second side of the tape, gonna have to dig it out later been awhile since i listened to it on tape.

  • You can definitely hear the Guns N' Roses influence in this song. Listen to Mr. Brownstone and you'll understand.

  • Yeas and Layne is always'' the one putting'' everyone down, with his careless brain

  • everysingle time layne mentions down, its like....hey everyone.... "doooooown"

  • im a fetus and i love alice in chains.

  • Where did this go? Im in high school and will be ashamed to show the music of today to my kids in the future. My parents had the good shit.

  • They were before my time, but I remember their popularity in the 90s. Too slow for today's metal. This would sound better as an acoustic song rather than a grunge metal song.

  • Love every aic sound ever made, that is hard to do.. Facelift was awesome.

  • \m/

  • musics not what it used to be.... that said itl come back around in due time

  • no one cares how old you guys are....were all happy you like and enjoy good music, but for the love of god stop looking for attention

  • Bad ass riff, fucking love this stuff. Layne sounds so fucking good. Damn. Such a great band.

  • Maaan! I want to rock!!

  • anyone else think this sounds like something the old guns n roses would write?

  • Comment removed

  • Layne forever!

  • play this song in 2 tabs, about a second apart and it sounds pretty sweet :D

  • That first riff popped into my head while I was playing guitar, and I'm ashamed to say I had to do some looking to find the right song. It's been too long since I've listened to AiC.

  • One person needs to be put down.

  • @Sickman1968 this is the best one of 'those' comment ever XD

  • what album is this

  • @EdanFlipz1031 facelift

  • Check out Bleed the Freak Live

  • I'm an Aic and old Gn'R fan...I think it's impossible comparing Aic and Gn'r, they're really different genres...besides Aic are the most various and original grunge band I've ever heard , with blues, hair metal and also funky parts in their songs. In this case the main riff reminds me hair metal that can be Gn'R, Skid Row, whatever you want but this ain't copying, it's being original and putting other genres influences into a grunge song. So listen to this song and enjoy the best of Aic!

  • I just want to say one thing:

    I. LOVE.THAT.VOICE.

    :)

  • the opening like 32 seconds, i dont even know what to say

  • Can this song GET loud enough??

  • @SgtSkidoosh No.

  • Hey everybody this is an Alice In Chains video. Who cares about Guns N' Roses, go rant about them on a Guns N' Roses video. Shut up and enjoy the music like the rest of us.

  • How does this only have 55k views? It opens with one of the sickest riffs I've ever heard and has pretty of Layne's awesom, drawn out vocals.

  • @Thrallcraft AMEN bro'

  • sweet* i hate relationships

  • Layne Staley! I have never met a better man. Oh,man, why did you die?! What a voice, body, talent, different realisation than most people...where r u now???

  • @modestyblaise1000 Look up here I am.

  • Sweet, found this song finally was at work couldn't get this out of my head but forgot what it was called.

  • G'n'R-like stuff :D

  • @RATMfan92 dude dont disrespect this band

  • @jeez123456789 I am not disrespecting them. I'm a huge AIC fan. I just thought this song was pretty GnR-like.

  • @RATMfan92 but gnr sucks

  • @jeez123456789 New GnR does suck, but Appetite??? I don't think so.

  • @jeez123456789 YES! If only because of AXEL POSE! The rest of the bands was wastoids for a while, but turned out to be cool in the end...

  • @RATMfan92 Early stuff

  • @RATMfan92 I dont understand why people re having a go at you. I really don't like guns 'n' roses, I hate their attitude. But you have to admit the riff is quite influenced by g 'n' r stuff. Don't forget, their bassist duff mckagan lived in seattle, was actualy a big part of the proto grunge scene and was in proto grunge bands. So don't judge.

  • @guitarkidv1 GnR don't have attitude, If you listen to them in interviews they actually all sounds like nice guys. Axl is the one with attitude, he's just a class A wanker, thinks he better than everyone else etc

  • @RATMfan92 You're in the right.

  • I feel like Layne is possessed on songs like these. His voice is out of this world.

  • Jerry's dick - my mouth

  • man, people forgot how to rock these days, back in the 90s it was all about pantera, alice in chains, nirvana, soundgarden, old metallicca, etc. now all these kids wanna do is fuck with pop punk, emo, and even the shitty rap out now

  • @hatebreed516 Fuck yeah dude..

Alice in Chains, Pantera, and Tool were the best of the 90s..

Now they're just a faint memory in shadow of this emo/scene/hardcore/rap/pop bullshit going on today..

  • @hatebreed516

At least new artists are not narcomans and alcoholics...

  • @Nickmorama

May have something to due with the fact that half of them have been raised through huge labels and aren't even old enough to drink yet.

  • @Nickmorama and you know this HOW ?? I would seriously beg to differ...your nearest addict is probably...er, looking right back at you in the mirror ... How dare you assume to even begin to know just how healthy - or not - ANYone else is, especially someone you don't know....just shows how very judgemental some people can be ....

  • @Nickmorama thats part of the reason why their so called music in reality garbage has no soul also that theyre corporate whores

  • @Nickmorama Nope... Nobody on the radio is an alcoholic, and that other word doesn't exist does it?

  • @Nickmorama The good ones are

  • @hatebreed516 there is so many pop punk kids at my school, they get on my fuckin nerves wit that blink-182 shit

  • @hatebreed516 It's the same with rap. In the 90s it was all about Gangstarr, A Tribe Called Quest, Wu Tang, Mos Def& Talib Kweli, and now it's Drake and shit

  • Personality overview!

  • that guitar riff is godly cantrell is the man

  • Seeing them March 9th in NYC i can't fucking wait.

  • im 16 and i love alice in chains and everyone else listens to rap and boy bands and all that stupid shit and im the only true rocker left

  • I hope you're being sarcastic and/or trolling because otherwise you're a conceited idiot, especially judging by your username.

  • dude fock off

  • nah man, we're here, you just gotta look for us

  • I hear ya man. All the fagots talk about at my school is New Boyz or whatever the fuck they're called.

  • @hardcorheadbanger:im the same age as you man and i love alice in chains

  • @hardcorheadbanger oh, for the love of everything, kid. I mean, it's cool that you like AiC and that stuff, but I feel like hanging myself when I see comments like this one. or those "you say Rihanna, I say Linkin park... etc." stuff. You shouldn't feel so righteous about yourself cuz you might find yourself in a situation where you realize you don't know shit about music. And please, just listen to good music, don't brag and rage about it.

  • @misovafurka

im with you on that....no one cares how old the fans are....its the music thats being focused upon. people are just looking for attention in a shitty way

  • @FuckNorm very true. tnx.

  • @hardcorheadbanger You're the only true rocker left? All "90s rock enthusiasts" are so arrogant. Thinking they're the only ones liking it.. Open your eyes. Liking 90s rock is mainstream these days. Not as mainstream as Rihanna or Eminem, but still mainstream.

  • @hardcorheadbanger Not alone anymore. :D I fuckin' love Alice in Chains. They're my favorite band.

  • @hardcorheadbanger you aint the only one, I been listening to chains, nirvana, old metallica, megadeth, and much more since i can remember and im 21 now.

  • @hardcorheadbanger i'm 12! fatality!

let's just keep rocking, it's not over yet...

  • lots his songs about heroin. like sickman and river of deceit is his masterpeice to me

  • i love this song and i dont know why alice in chains is so underrated

  • @EAZYED3211 their not underrated. they just didnt sell out so the main stream fucks don't like them.

  • Because we have jerkoffs who are on Cobains dick like hookers on blow

  • Speak for yourself. I want to blow Cobain like I shoot cocaine.

  • The chains put me in a perfect mood.. R.I.P Layne your voice echos on.

  • alice in chains first album is by far the best!

  • Have you heard the latest called "Check My Brain" pretty fuckin' cool. The riff reminds me a bit of the intro on "It aint like that"

  • ive noticed... he made a lot of work singin bout drugs.... then this grunge god dies from em =/ its a shame.... RIP dude

  • I don't need you, I just can't put you down!

AiC has some great lyrics and tunes, I must say..

  • my favorite alice in chains song. Love facelift. Their best album although I love all their albums. But I'd say dirt and facelift are my faves and then self titled.

  • i dunno jar of flies was pretty great as well. dam theyre all my favorite haha

  • Awesome! My favourite chains song!

  • earthwindfireandice-----i'm with you all the way. love most of their work. facelift is their best. this is my fave. but i love the whole album.

  • i love this band

  • both Dirt and Facelift are Great but i love more Facelift Cause layne seemed so mory energetic and happy then in dirt he changed a lot but still dirt is my 2nd favorite album

  • Comment removed

  • Underrated song! In my opinion, one of AiC's bests.

  • totaly agreed

  • my absolute alice n chains fave. Most dont get it !

  • this is one of the reasons to why i dont comment or say my opinion on youtube comments. To many know it all, you say i love this banb its like " die fucker" or " how can you like them ? " or they grunge their hardcore their shit noise fuckincore this core that metal. Theres no damn freedom. Stfu and jus listin to them music

  • Dude.

    Chill, for real.

  • >Stfu and jus listin to them music

    >jus listin to them music

    >them music

    WAT

  • > 'greater than' symbol

    > implying to be on 4chan

  • What's a "4chan"?

  • lololololololololololol

  • She'it! come you guys and gals. GRUNGE was spawed IN SEATTLE, Der isn't NO other place on Earth that had this sound, NOWHERE NO HOW! Whether it was 'media' that termed it or not, don't matter. It opened huge doors in a local market (Seattle) that had been bound and gagged for decades from reaching notoriety. AIC's sound/music may also be called a Hard Rock/Blues fusion, i.e. GRUNGE. No insult to anyone intended, just my view - Lived in Seattle when it all happened.... Peace

  • I`m still here, and if you were here then you know all we called it was `Rock n Roll`

  • It's hard to classify alice in chains into a particular genre because they are so diverse. Every album, and for that matter every song, stands alone and is a testiment to the multitude of styles that they were influenced by.

  • alice in chains is whatever the fuck the fans see it as lol.

  • oh cool

  • Cantrell comes from a southern *background*

  • AIC this is wicked

  • ok listen, i understand some of their songs do have a southern influence to them, dont follow is a definate example, but to say the the entire band is southernly influenced is just plain ignorance, and what the hell does jerry cantrell being friends with darrel abbot have anything to do with this?

  • dimebag's damage plan cd jerry cantrell songs on the song ashes to ashes, but jerry obviously like southern music's just example.

alice in chains i dunno just remind me of southern influenced hardrock/metalish/sludgey shit.

grunge is mostly punk background alice in chains used to be metal band at first.

  • sings*

  • Wow someone's never heard their Self titled album, ha ha ha ha HA.

  • i wouldnt say that ALice had much of a southern influence, maybe this song cant think of any others. Jerry Cantrell's solo stuff has some serious southern/country influence. there were even rumours of a Cantrell country album lol

  • well what i meant was their self titled album is so grungy, and acid rock. But yes Jerry Cantrell comes from a very southern influence. When they did their MTV unplugged, one of the songs they did in between their regular set was a country song

  • calling alice in chains grunge is totally wrong alice in chains is sludgey, nirvana's like loud punk rock, bleach is much different than facelift.

  • They were a grunge band, like it or not, sure facelift wasn't really grunge, even though they had some grunge songs on it (Love, hate, love). Nirvana is grunge as well even though nevermind wasn't, the rest of their work is grunge. AIC and nirvana are two completely different grunge bands. Grunge is a mix of punk, sludge, acid rock, and metal. Thats what GRunge is.

  • labeling them grunge is wrong lol.

  • Comment removed

  • alice in chains isnt grunge and never will be.

  • grunge is just gay punk rock noise music

  • Comment removed

  • alice in chains never called themselves grunge for a reason.

  • Comment removed

  • nirvana called themselves grunge.

  • Comment removed

  • nirvana sucks

  • yes, and they continue to suck money out of people's pockets with album sales so fuck off and kill yourself

  • grunge is punk roots

alice in chains has no punk roots.

  • Comment removed

  • i listened to alice in chains before everyone here 1990 here, i think i know what alice in chains is.

that's that 19 years listening to alice?

  • soundgarden isnt metal.

  • pantera is metal and they still have blues guitar solos lol you obviously dont get music.

  • frozen, you hit it on it mark for me. let the truth be spoken, my friend.

  • LOL this is southern metal

  • technically grunge with more metal in it

  • its southern influenced/blues influenced shit.

  • if you go into any grunge video on youtube and say sumtin bad about cobain or staley or anyone ur gonna get some harsh comments back. to me it just proves the intense emotions connected to the scene. if anything, those emotions intensified as a result of cobain's death/ pearl's withdrawal/staley's reclusion etc. sure grunge may be dead because the music is not being produced anymore but it needed to die. dont you see? we are the pure fans, no more media, no more posers. death was all it needed!

  • alice in chains isnt grunge.

    definitely southern influence shit

  • that riff sounds fuckin redneck as fuck

  • Redneck eh? Buddy go listen to some bluegrass/country.....You dont even know what you're talking about

  • this obviously has southern influences.

    bluegrass/country isnt redneck.

  • lol i listened to alice in chains fuckin 1990....alice in chains definitely has a southern vibe to their shit....not to mention jerry cantrell alice in chains guitarist was friends with pantera's guitarist.
