  • i'm only watching this cuz i hav to do it for school.... lolz, but it's really good!

  • omg... freakin crazy legs!

  • this is so well done. May I use your video on my soon to be launched website of how beautiful and fun tap dancing can be?Thank you --Cheryl Williams

  • I know this music. It's the same song we use! =D

  • Why are hornpipes called such?

  • @Angie2343 They are called hornpipe after the music.. which also is called hornpipe. :)

  • Amazing! Must take a LOT of practice!

  • that's so fuckin cool :D

  • how long have you been dancing?

  • Thats pretty good

  • Your legg looks like you have gone spaz :L its good tho (Y)

  • impressive man i admire you seriously

  • nice sounds!

  • I like your precision in your leg movements!

  • I thought you were great!!

  • whats the name of the songgg

  • I trust this is a "B" Hornpipe?

  • @Ceilt101 yes....me too

  • you meen beginner?...yeahh i would think soo. lol

  • we use this song and its great cuz it basically tells u the steps in the beats of the songs, "tip down, tip down, tip down, treble hop back..."

  • waoooo bailas muy bien!!!

  • It would be great if you moved around more - the steps, rhythm & sound are awesome. We're always taught to "use the stage."

  • It would be good to get more variation in your steps. The steps were composed of mainly taps! Hope this helps :)

  • bravo!!!

  • This sounds a lot like St Patricks Day

  • it does but st patricks day is different. is he doing slow hornpipe?

  • What a talent. Takes a lot of energy too.

  • I'm having trouble with this dance. I want to cry. I'm from the Niall O'Leary School of Irish Dance in New York City. He started teaching this yesterday. I'm so confused.

  • oh my actual god... i love your steps :)

  • nice for someone that was tired ... :-D

  • Try to make it sharper......

  • Your cuts are very sharp. Great work!

  • the name of the second song??? please

  • This simple but effective traditional step was composed by the late Donncha O' Muíneacháin.

I am curious to know how you came up with the step?

I have many more of Donncha's hornpipe steps. He had a huge repertoire and matched steps to the quality of the floor and the speed of the music.

Donncha was the Irish "Micheal Flatley" of the 60's and 70's .He toured the world with his dancing partner Celine Hession. He was an extraordinary dancer, a wonderful teacher.

    He died in January 2005.

  • ainelucie, would you be able to share any of his steps with us? I love the dancing from the 60s and 70s, especially hornpipes.

  • hi aine,

this is donncha's daughter-Siobhán. We'd like to thank you for your lovely comments. We appreciated seeing them. He'd be delighted to know someone was remembering his steps. Hope you're enjoying your own dancing.

  • Beautiful rhythm :)

  • You kind of look like cedic diggory!

  • your rhythm and timing is perfect..these things are far more important than complicted fancy steps. nobody will ever be a champion dancer without these basics and your lucky to have such strong timing and rhythm as its essential to be a good dancer!!

  • :O

I wonder wat that ones called

we do a hornpipe it goes with the new port set

its ok for a simple step

  • Comment removed

  • thank you :D

  • it's a simple step, but performed very well. why is it so baD?

  • if you had decent steps youd be ok

  • i have this one!

  • very clear and lovely timing. not one gap in between your legs excuse the pun. you know what i am talking about. fair play

  • I have a hard time keeping my head up when I dance...its terrible actually lol but you do it with ease lol

  • I love this hornpipe. What a great step to practice your rhythem, trebles and switch trebles. Thanks for posting.

  • I really liked watching this one for some reason. Even though you were really tired people aren't critiquing you as badly, lol. I think that says something. So hopefully you get where you want to go with this.

    Erin

  • People often underestimate the 'less complicated' steps, but my sister advanced into the second-hardest level dancing a hornpipe even less complicated than this one. ;) So don't underestimate it's power and quality! That said, this works much better with the faster music, as most steps in that style are done with the fast music. Good job on keeping with the beat. :)

  • your have really good posture ! :D

  • Although this is a slower hornpipe, I like it. You really got each beat down, and your lifts and turn outs were lovely. Great work

  • thx, I think it's time to do a faster and more difficult one ;)

    cheers

  • @AshOGrady

actually, this is fast hornpipe music (well the music is slow but there are two different kinds of hornpipes, fast and slow, and this is just a fast hornpipe)

  • whats this music called ???? i need to practice and i need some music!!!

    thax

  • Hi, this music is from BRADLEY BROTHERS, the CD is called "IRISH DANCE WORLD" there's another one from them "100% PURE IRISH DANCE - THE SHOW" they got some great music on it for practising, cheers

  • I like that :) think it´s impressive, it maybe boring for someone, but I liked it... :)

  • not a special hornpipe but an easy one to learn ;)

  • bravo

    from italy

  • grazie tante! ;)

  • how long have u been dancing for? I liked it.. the steps are just alittle boring.. I agree. Add some heel work and drums and maybe a few more clicks. Good job tho.

  • yeah, it's a very easy hornpipe and the very first one I learnt so it's ok, thx anyway! cheers

  • well it was worth it, u did a great job

  • I'll try me best :)

  • ew fast hornpipes are boring...BUT UR GOOD!

  • Great upper body control. And agreed with the others.. fantastic!

  • Is it me ... or is your hornpipe a variation of a traditional set.. kinda like job of journey work... im almost certain. Anyways ;) good trebles :D keep up the good work.

  • Whoa! Your legs seem to have a life of their own!

  • Nice! Try to pull up in your dancing -- it will straighten your legs more and pull the feet in closer together so it won't look like your reaching so much in your trebles.

Also, try adding some heelwork into your dance -- it's beautiful to watch and will be a nice change of pace from all the trebles, cuts and leaps.

  • thanks so much for your advice! I'll try that!

  • oh yeah, sometimes they do... :D

  • I agree with the others that you are exceptional for a self-taught person. Did you watch videos? How did you accomplish such great technique? I danced for about 6 years at one time, and I was not nearly as good as you are.

  • You are very good. You're certainly an accomplished dancer. How long have you danced? By the way, I'd just about rather watch you than Mr. Flatley.

  • i agree with the first 3 sentences, but i still prefer Flatley :D

  • i learned a step almost exactly like that once.. my teachers called it the derry lead (or dairy lead?? lol) anyway, you have nice, steady beats!! :)))

  • this is gash

  • Wow!!! I can enjoy that just by listening...don't have to look! But when I do look it looks terrific!! Beautiful! A pleasure to watch and hear! Great job! Dang...wish I was that good!

  • Your steps are really slow i wish mine were like that !

  • its only bcoz its bun lik the way u have an easy reel prob wat u learned wen u were rally young

  • Good technique, smooth and rythmic. You,ve good talent..

  • I love the dance and the musica .thanks .

    :D

  • °_° good work and nice boy ;)

  • amazing.....I can onli hope im as good as yho in me preformance o!! great fantastic immence!xx

  • you like the bradly brothers dont you

  • they got some good music

  • That was perfect, very well done!

  • that was amazing your time and rhythm were perfect, you're the "Lord of the Dance" lol how long have you been dancing for?

  • that looks amazin! the rhythm is fabb! keep watchin it ova n ova lolz. gud work :)

  • Your cuts are great ! And brilliant rythm ! I really really envy it lol...

  • lovely crossover and turnout! your timing was right on. :D

  • I like your hornpipe very nice

  • thanks mate ;)

  • Haha I know this step..It's from Nora Pickett TCCRG...are you dancing in Basel?

  • yeah, I attended a workshop by her... this dance studio is placed in Basel ;)

  • Please take advice below

  • WOw... Im so Impressed! I've been in irish dancing since I was 3 years old and i envy you a bit. By the sound, are those tap shoes? If they are, Wow.. thats great you did a good job. I tried once in tap shoes but I couldn't do it. I have Rutherford and Fays and a new pair of SHannons im getting a feel for..

    Hoah to you!

  • Ta! I'm at a loss for an aswer... it doesn't matter how good you dance it's all about passion that makes you dance this way! I got a pair of Pacelli shoes with capezio tips never tried in tap shoes. I heard Fays shoes should be really good...

  • Fays shoes are wonderful! they have great support for your feet.

  • thanks for your advice, so I'll better get them ;)

  • Thats really good for being self taught amazing infact. You really need to join a dance school it will increase your chances tremendously.

  • thank you so much! could you recommend a good school? cheers

  • thats really good.....do you have any soft shoe videos?

  • not yet I think as soon as I'll have more time I'll put some on, ok? cheers

  • I'm an Irish dancer, and I think it's really great that you taught yourself! The rhythm is Incredible, but maybe add a few harder movements. And also, join a dance school. You may not want to, but if you want to compete and be in with the chance of being world champion, don't let that chance go to waste! Take it while you can! Good luck for the future. :)

  • wow, worldchampion sounds good... it needs a lot more go get there anyway I guess I've got to make up my mind 'cause I'm not going to be younger anymore :)

  • wow really good for a self taught dancers. you should join a school

  • when there's more time I'll have to thing about it ;)

  • You're so good ! Even for a selft taught dancer lol :)

    Why don't you join a school ? Il n'y a pas d'école de danse Irlandaise en Suisse ? :-)

  • I think it sounds good... the taps and clicks fit with the music as though they are part of it. isnt that what its all about?

  • nice hornpipe :)

  • it's good to see some traditional hornpipes here! YAY! n ya everyone tinks they are boring (which they are not!)because they don't realize that they are "traditional" you dance them VERY WELL n yer technique n rythmn is fab! keep up all of the great work !!!! you amaze me being self taught! don't think my trad steps are as good and I've been in a school fer 5 years! YOU ROCK!

  • Wow, definitely join a school! That's amazing for being self taught!

  • ur self taught?? ur really good for a self taught.... my only comment is that u should throw some bangs or stomps into that step..... otherwise people may tend to over look your step as boring as previously posted.... i think its good for a self taught tho, if you join a dance school, youd be really great!

  • wat level are you?

  • level? I'm a self-taught dancer ;)

  • boring steps lol

  • seen as u see fit to complain about this dance then i challenge you to post a video of u irish dancing to see if u are any better or if u can come up with some more interesting steps

  • i think if you knew anything about traditional irish dancing, you would retract your statement. this is exactly what a traditional hornpipe is supposed to look and sound like.
