This is crap.

Polishing your shoes works because the polish fills the pores of the leather, not because the surface gets buffed. The polish gets in the little nooks and crannies and when you buff it, you force the polish in further. That's why you have to apply multiple coats. The oil in a banana will eventually render the shoe unshinable. you might as well be trying to polish the shoe using saddle soap. Just go out, get a dauber, a horse hair brush and some kiwi and do it the RIGHT way.
