Brilliant collection of pictures! How long did Speedie make their own bodies for? They've got cool designs, particularly the Mack with the slanted ribs on the body. My favourite shots would have to be 1:15 / 2:00 / 2:48. This is what I'd love to see more of on YouTube / Flickr; some classic Aussie machinery - thanks a million for sharing these.
very nice pics! Wasn't aware the Mack MR made it out there. Also a bit strange to see a ford logo on a garbage truck, thats almost unheard of in the states. Very nice trucks in these pics, older ribbed body truck always grabbed my attention considerably more.
@3amrepmike3 - Yeah, the Mack MR's were used just as much for FL's as they are in the States. Were very popular over there. There were also a few Kenworth's, the ones that had the Pete 320 shape. The Ribbed body's have to be my favourite's over today's rounded world of compactor's haha. Thanks very much Mike!
@laserkeyboard yea, I recently saw a picture of a Kenworth L700 front loader that tharealsteven showed me, they sure looked awesome. Any areas where those Mack MRs still roam around? Like the small haulers out in the middle of nowhere? Out here if you go out into the lower population states, the olldd trucks are still found out there working hard. As for the modern compactors, they all look so damn similar.. several mfg. out here have trucks that only a name plate can tell you the difference..
@3amrepmike3 - Oh yeah, there are only a few L700's around, all done up looking brand new! But with the MR's, not that ive seen. I know that Veolia (Collex) still run some in Tasmania, but thats a different state haha.
Love the Macks. You have a lot of old trucks there.
