I like some psychobilly but I hate when people call The Meteors or rev. horton heat to name just a few rockabilly bc it could not be further from the truth. When I think rockabilly I think Eddie Cochran, Sun Elvis, Buddy Holly when on Decca, Johnny Burnette Trio, Gene Vincent, Benny Joy, Link before the fuzz gems and well anything with a slapbass not meant to sound like punk. I love all three but a lot of psychobilly is lousy. Cramps were the first one and prob the best one. Can't beat Link tho.
Recepie for maximum analog nastiness: 1 dub this tune on to an old reel to reel tape deck 2.crank it thru a pair of Fender Twin Reverbs {turned up to 10) 3.Play over and over until the police show up in your drive way. 4.After that, yer on yer own. Makes for an interesting evening, though
Hillbilly Wolf...............sounds like a predator. My favorite wolfe was the one Sam the Sham & the Pharohs sang about back in the days when L'il Red Riding Hood was topping the charts. Thx4 postin'
holy freakin' crap. we owe this guy our balls. this is real rockabilly, not that modern psycho/pop abilly crap. the best thing about link is that he knew when not to play.
@mattybock Damn straight buddy! Psychobilly ain't rockabilly at all! It's shit is what it is! This is the real deal, can't get any better than Link Wrey!
@killgreed agreed. out of all the psychobilly bands i've heard DAG are the ONLY ones that match what the old guys did. i've always felt a real rockabilly vibe in their records. only heard the first few though.
@killgreed I have always LOVED the Cramps. Unfortunately I was shocked to learn recently that, like, ALL their songs were covers! Some are instrumental note for note covers that they added lyrics to ("Teenage Werewolf", "Sunglasses After Dark") and others are just simplified covers of little known 50s - 60s bands. I still love 'em and think of all the scrawny rockers in women's undies since the 70s Lux Interior was the hottest. Look up the album "Roots of the Cramps".
@Cozmixcartoons bands that fall into the psycobilly genre that are good, guana batz, cramps, rev horton heat to name a few. they took rock n roll to a new level.
@Cozmixcartoons this guy knows whats up. im no youngin but im not old yet either, at 26 i feel unbiased enough to say that no bit of psychbilly i've heard (and i've heard plenty) can match what the old guys did in the 50's. i'll take the old rockabilly sound any day. these guys were trendsetters for a reason.
When rock and roll was being poisoned at the top by 'the men in suits, to quote Gene Vincent, Link and his band were still giving it life and continued to do so British Invasion or not. He even backed a northern soul singer! Too much for Motown or oldies radio.
Link Wray means so much to me. He is a pure force of nature he was the danger that defined real rock and roll. This is a great piece of history. Thank you for posting it.
Damn how totally old school, what great echo!

I loved this song since the first time I heard it back in the ninties, on Mark La Marr's "Shake, rattle & roll" radio show.

Link is amazing , he electric guitar sound is sick, so raw and unique. He
must of blown minds in the 50s and 60s. YOu can hear his influence in so many
new real rock/punk bands.

Is that Robin Williams on the left, missing a tooth? Probably wearing the eye patch, rehearsing for Dustin Hoffman's part in the movie "Hook".
