I saw this video quite awhile ago. His intro about his daughter leaving home puts a whole new spin on the meaning of the song. Just from watching him, I can tell he really poured his heart and soul into singing it. I think the daughter he may have been referring to was Jessi's daughter from her marriage to Duane Eddy, Jennifer. I believe she lived with Waylon and Jessi and he truly felt she was his daughter. see also Waylon's autobiography about Jennifer.
Waylon is the greatest of all time, nobody comes close, there was no tune he couldnt play or sing to..the real King!
I think God liked Waylons voice better then his own and thats the reason he took him from us so soon, so when we pass on, were gonna hear the Hoss call us home.
@Juicefani11 Waylon used to call him "Moon". And yes, he did pass away not long ago. Damn, must all good ones pass away ? Let's help together to make music in our time that is as real, heartfelt and passionate as it was back then! ND
@NicoDebris Dang straight! When Ol' Moon passed away I was suprised how much Country radio and Country music related TV programming let it slip passed quietly. They have NO IDEA what we just lost. I don't think even Ralph himself could have possibly understood just how great he was- if he knew his head would have exploded! I bet every steel guitar in America cried that day. R.I.P. Moon
It doesnt matter the song or the style of music, anytime I hear a tune I like I always wonder what Waylons version would sound like as I have yet to hear a song that he has covered that did'nt sound better than the original.
i love this song i did not know that willie had children i kno waylon had waylon jr. ( shooter) and some site said he has a daughter not with jessi though is that true?
Thats a real song..

What is the origin of this video clip? What TV show was it from ? Was this the only song Waylon sang for this particular show? What year?
It was great to hear him talk about the origin of it as about his daughter leaving home to get married.
