@ricardosoares2000 - Jet A fuel that is used in all jet engined ACFT is basically diesel.  The B52 has black smoke because water is injected into the combustion chamber for more power. Almost like WEP.

They used to fly into Darwin, Northern Territory, Australia. Awesome to watch. They've got one there in the aviation museum. The cockpit is very cramped compared to the rest of the plane. Everytime I go to Darwin I go and have a good look at the B52..

@cortes1988 thats because they were built to take serious punishment. i just hope they dont replace the engines any time in the future. wouldnt be a buff without 8 howling turbojets. man they should have built all the old fighters to have that kind of service life. think of the money theyd have in the natl defense budget if all they did was upgrade instead of retire and replace. im sure they coulda found a way to make the f14 perform like the f22

@Jacksonkellyfreak exactly and I they shouldn't be replacing any engines on the B-52's. I heard that they plan on replacing the engines on the C-5. I sure as hell would not like that. They sound amazing! Yeah I agree I like the old fighters. I hate how the Navy retired the F-14. that jet was so much better then the F-18.

The B-52 is so damn awesome! Those huge wings that never seem to end, the ever present smoke trails and signature whistle of the eight TF33's on flyby. If I had nine lives, I would spend one as a B-52 pilot for sure!
