The OVA's were more dark and bloody, and the music was more orchestrated, not to say that it's bad, because it's still pretty damn good, but I thought the original anime's music was MUCH better.

@CPLdoomguy ture ture, but that was the best part of the frist anime. the story completly derailed because they didn't wait for the manga to get further in the story. so about 1/3rd of the way through it just became weird and detached from Hirano's creation.

@GrimImpaler Actually,it's better that they didn't wait for the manga to end,because in my opinion the design and the animation in TV series was horrible.If you don't get what i mean,compare Alucard's fight with Luke Valentine in TV series and the OVAs.

However,i digged the TV series' storyline,it was more about vampire hunting rather than destroying evil organizations (you could say the Millenium is one),still i'm not saying that it is better than the manga's.Also, Incognito SUCKED big time.

@CPLdoomguy I agree with you, I liked the idea of Jazz and blues/rock music creating the atmosphere for that show. And when I think of Vampires like Alucard I dont think of classical music but music like this.

As for me, TV-series were more serious show, if not more "realistic" (For example they had multinational corporation, a defense contractor that produced "Vampire chips" instead of... Well, Nazis) OVA's have more... Well, ironic/sadistic tone. They are somehow more bloody BUT more humorous as well.

@alphaleone1 I love the original TV OSTs, and what they did with it's rocky, action,anarchy (or whatever world can describe the awesomeness). And i like how they resused this "Alucard vs Andersson" theme. But using orchestra and more Wagner/Zimmer like score (with certain bit's of crazyness) made the OVA feel fresh and gave Hellsing the new start Hirano and the Wild geese wanted, giving us a new and more grander story. Not just in the storyline, but also the artwork and many new characters. :D
