  • Black men have always been there for their families until they were forceablly removed from the home.

  • You really think Obama is going to pay homage to Black Women? You want him to stand up for woman, but you made your choice when you choose him as your candidat and not a woman.

  • The problem is, that Clinton kind of screwed that up when he made Jocelyn Elders the Surgeon General. She had to be fired after recommending that masturbation be taught and condoms be distributed in schools.

  • Melissa Harris-Lacewell-Perry-Hussein-Obama

  • Even though much of the content of Democracy Now is probably decent, I can`t listen to it due to Amy Goodman`s horrible gravely, croaky voice.

  • I hated the Tubman reference. Does Clinton always has to rub blacks' slave history in their faces?

  • If you had sex with her your IQ would raise 75pts

  • That woman is smoking hot!

  • yada, yada, yada...she stole the title from another book; "for colored girls who have considered suicide/when the rainbow is enuf". Thief! As for Pres. Obama having to talk about black female leaders is another do-nothing example of the dead-in-the-water civil right establishment...brats. Let the President talk about the fact that I need a roof over my head, food in my stomach, and clothes on my back!

  • @SooperFlye - Wow, you REALLY missed the point, didn't you? She didn't STEAL the title but purposely made her title simiar to show how how that book and her book are similar in meaning. Sort of like a continuation of the book w/o a first person perspective. As for the civil rights being a "do nothing establishment" you are either being purposely ignorant or just aren't black because every AA person knows that if it wasn't for tthe movement, we wldn't have any of the successes that we have today.

  • @SooperFlye Interesting. She says "'as Obama says 'we are the ones we have been waiting for.'" Actually Obama was borrowing (without acknowledging) from Alice Walker who has a 2006 non-fiction work by the same title.

  • @mogatsamasego who gives a rats behind about who wrote what, when it was written, yada yada yada.

This dead rhetoric has no validity within the neighborhoods of this country, except for the bourgeois black folks who can afford to sit around in their safe 7500 sq. ft condo, sipping ginobilis' and talkin' laudy daudy.

If people want to learn about these women or anyone else...go to the freakin' library and read a book.

In the meantime, people need jobs, clothes on the back, food in the stomach

  • She is a professor of black racism studies in her Affirmative Action preserved academic slot. Of course, she hates any group that opposes racial preferences and Marxist redistribution based on black’s officially sanctioned victimization status. Should NOW even broadcast her extremist racial Marxist hatred? Her hatred is exactly that same as The Nation of Islam or the Black Panthers, but couched in the same anti-Semitism and unearned AA accreditation.

  • lacewell is a black steinem not fit to mention the name of blessed Mrs. Hamer

  • @vivascargill She looks ~Half Caste~ biracial to me not Black maby you should get your eyes checked.

  • @rottwieler20 whatever that was not my point which had to do with class not rce

  • @vivascargill Alot of dumb people have a problem with bieng both (Black and White) when in reality there is more mixed people than ~Half Caste~ they also never menstion ~quadroons~ Quater-Caste people and just either lebelle them White or Black its SICK and wrong judgment.

  • Melissa Harris-Lacewell is just brilliant. I can listen to her all day.

  • @funkbrother216 :

not only that, but she is beautiful as well. especially in this interview. i think this is the best i have even seen her look on TV. I do have to say though that she can be a little snobbish sometimes... she loves to say that she is "tunured at princeton"

  • @funkbrother216 - Me too. She has a lot of valid points and I love the way she delivers them.

  • Man please,im so sick of this bw is the foundation shit, man please.

  • thank you.

  • Im black and I have to agree with this assessment. Its unfortunate that there are so many women who struggled so hard to get black people somewhere. If they could only see where so many of us have ended up nowadays. Its a damn shame.

  • [HOW MANY ASIANS TO U SEE CHAMPIONING SOME ASIAN BRAIN SURGEON?]

I see you never heard of the Daily Asian tv show. They celebrate their culture and accomplishment too. So does the Irish, Itallians, Jewish and Hispanics. For some reason, people like you don't feel that it's Black people's place to celebrate their heritage like everybody else. You're just trash.

  • maybe its cos Asian Brain Surgeons dont have ancestors that were slaves that have handed down their inherent poverty, and inherrant lack of privilege that whites enjoy and an onslaught of fatherless families and black women under pressure to bring up families alone, black self hatred caused by 500yesrs of discrimination that has obviously had an effect on every facet of Black women & mens lives, appearance and mental well being & status in society.

BW need 2be celebrated for a change BM do too

  • How the fuck did black women lay the foundation for which Barack Obama stands on when he was raised by a WHITE WOMEN AND WHITE GRANDPARENTS!?

  • i completely agree with your point. i have written articles about that topic... the fact that as a black man, it is impossible for me to consider the election of obama as a significant accomplishment of african americans, when he was not raised in an african american setting, family, area, or culture.i always say to people who call him our first "black president"... he spent 9 months inside the womb of a white woman, that should be as good a scale as any to discern a persons ethnic identity

  • A very intelligent Black woman. She is great and I agree 100% with what she said about those wonderful African-American women in politics.

  • Wow I wish she would have been my Teacher at School!

  • Mrs. Lacewell is easy on the eyes and easy on the ears. Lacewell 2016

  • Again, the wonderful Ms. Lacewell lays it all out there. Hey, a future presidential candidate? I think so!

  • A good candidate, I will vote for her.

  • I have much love for Melissa H-L even on things I disagree with her on she has my utmost respect. And if I may add she is stunning.

  • I just love how excited Ms. Harris-Lacewell is when talking about these African-American women you can see her get all bubbly just thinking about them it is obvious these women have had a great impact on her life.

Thanks for the upload this video is great and I definteley learned something today!

  • FIGHT MANNEQUINISM!!!

Mannequinism is a phenomenon caused by political and volunteer inactivity where "...sufferers experience a hardening of the skin and firmness of all joints until ultimately the body is transformed into a plastic hollow shell. It is a disease of the mind that ultimately affects the person's whole being and community."
