  • The Cars are just simply.... AWESOME.

  • Ben was by far the best and coolest of the Cars. Oh, and best looking, most talented and best dressed. Just best!

  • @CSavageSr Most talented? You're kidding, right? I will give you best looking and his voice was amazing, but Ric Ocasek sang most songs, was primary songwriter and even became a producer. On top of that, he was humble enough to give Orr, his good friend, some great songs to sing.

I think you are letting your attraction to Orr cloud your judgment.

  • @digitalintent 100% correct!!!

  • Mind-blowing.

  • Sound is as relevant today as it was in 1984 - Pioneers like Cars are awesome - thanX:)>>>

  • i always regretted not seeing them live--still awesome band!!

  • Beautiful rock and roll singer.....like Elvis.

  • Ben is so incredibly sexy in this video. He drives me crazy

  • they dont make music like this nemore thats for sure! awesome!

  • epic shit here!!

  • @slipknotftw1000 EPIC?????? sir that would be a understatement

  • The Cars were so 'tight' .. their music still has me rockin'.. Ben Orr had such an unmistakeable voice.. LOVE IT

  • R.I.P Ben Or

  • Agreed:.)) thanks for the ride in double vision:00.>

  • RIP Benjamin Orzechowski !

  • Just great !!!!!!!!!!! Love Benjamin.

  • man i wish i lived in the 80s

  • ok its waaay too hard to tell the difference between ric and ben's voice...is it just me?

  • 4:40

  • there best song ever, kind of a heavier leary song, great voice this guy has to, a classic from the cars

  • HEY WHERES PHOEBE - I WANT PHOEBE I WANT PHOEBE I WANT PHOEBE Ô¿Ô

  • I don't know how you know what his Tat looks like, but thank you for the info. I don't want to comment to you and ruin your beautiful post. Lots of us don't know too much about Benjamin. Thank you for letting us know.

Ps....I sure hope you knew him personally, if so, you are one of the few - blessed-

  • i came here cause of family guy lol meg is weird

  • I friggin love this thack.....

  • This video is exactly how I imagine the 80's were like

  • @necaxissta I lived the 80s--It was REALLY just like this! The mood, the clothes, the music...I miss the 80s...

  • I wished that I would have known that when I saw Ben and The Cars on this tour that I would never get to see him alive again. God Bless Ben Orr, in my opinion (I am a musician) the coolest rocker to ever take the stage. What presence, the dude just drips with cool.

  • @rkl17 Drips with cool... You are totally Correct!

  • I love this song and I love B. Orr. He's from my city!!

  • Dammit, you just don't get awesome music like this anymore. These guys play so well together.

  • Watching Ben and Ric playing together; I didn't see Ric hang out with Elliot and Ben on their side of the stage too much in the concert footage.

Elliot Easton Rocks it! He played on Benjamin's Lace Album. Class Act & such a hottie in his own right.

Benjamin obviously knew how to move. I bet he was fun-

  • Does anybody know what kind of Tat Benjamin Orr had on his arm? It's never filmed close enough to see-

I saw Fergie wearing similar shades on their TV special a few nights ago.

(coolness never goes out of style)

  • @JesusFreakJene Ben's tattoo was a chinese dragon he had done in London and underneath it says London 1983

  • Love the cars, love the cars, love the cars!!!!!

  • Miss you Ben....

    Great vocals.

  • the 80s..whatta trip

  • what kinda glasses are those?! 8D

  • I keep waiting for phoebe kates to come out of a pool topless..

  • Oh damn!!...u kids r so lucky that ur girlfriends r NOT doing that 'short hair' thing 0:33. So many HOT chicks, w/ HOT bodies, and that ugly ass hair cut ruined it!! But since all the other girls were doin' it...well, hey, "I wanna be cool too"...NOT cool!!

One of the worst memories of the 80's!!...it only worked on Pat Benetar. I still blame Dorothy Hammill.

That the Lord that this song reminds me of Phoebe Kates and leg warmers, instead of foolish hair.

  • the damn glasses hide those gorgeous eyes

  • Ben looks very Miami Vice here

  • This might be the best song the cars ever did, and they did their share of great tunes.

  • I loved the Cars and their music. Sadly on stage they were just boring, I hate to say it since the music was just fantastic.

  • AHHHH the Summit in Houston..ive seen so many shows there i cant remember them all..now its the Joel Olsteen church..I bet u can still smell the dope!!

  • can't wait for see them in concert hopefuly they come to florida

  • Love his guitar riff near the end of the song Ben on bass, everytime I hear it now I know that was him! Funny how video changes everything, They had an advantage with dual lead singers , loved them singing together but their lead vocal songs is what set the songs apart, I love most except some of the 80's ones are definitely dated, but the popular ones like Drive, Dangerous Type, Double-Trouble etc, are timeless also:)

  • oh yeah loved the band since the beginning who does too add me oh fb requiem from chicago...

  • I saw The Cars in 1979 at Legend Valley, Ohio.

  • So many think that Ric Ocasek was the only singer for The Cars, but Mr. Orr (RIP) sang lead on a number of their bigger songs. I wish sometimes I could go back to my youth in the early to mid 80s!

  • I still have the ticket stub from their Reno concert back in '84. Ben Orr was top-notch; unfortunately the lead guitarist, Elliot-what's-his-name and Ric Ocasek were a total snooze. Wang Chung opened for them and gave a far better performance, which ticked me off as I had been a die-hard Cars fan. I saw Ben Orr in the 90's and he performed Drive with that awesome voice of his. He died two years later-total bummer as he was the real talent in the Cars.

  • Ben was fantastic. I love you . Rest In Peace.

  • incredible job!! these guys were amazing!

  • incredible job!!

  • what an incredible band!! amazing performance!

  • what an incredible band!!

  • Seeing The Cars tomorrow night... Can't wait cause I'll be singing "Bye Bye Love" trying to be "Moving In Stereo" and "Shake It Up" while we "Drive" to the ShowBox in Seattle to see them perform "My Best Friend's Girlfriend" which "You Might Think" is a "Sad Song" but it's "Just What I Needed" for someone of the "Dangerous Type" or that's "All Mixed Up" but in reality it's just "Magic" in "Heartbeat City" for "Candy-O" to say "Hello Again"and "Let The Good Times Roll".. peace and RIP Ben

  • Still sounds amazingly fresh to this day. The Cars first 2 albums were incredibly ahead of their time. RIP Ben, you are sorely missed to this day. Maybe it's a good thing you went when you did, that way you don't have to hear the crap being played by today's artists.

  • @grinderman77 hilarious gingerman!

  • @Cuteblondie1972 yea thanks...i heard. pretty sad.

  • All the Cars songs sound fresh today...Ric could certainly write 'em and Ben could definitely sing 'em

  • Great song.

  • I consider this to be the best song the cars ever did. the song is hypnotic.

  • Ben Orr died kids!!! He was a big contributor to the vocals!!! Give them a break!!!

  • I miss shows like this, they are fun to watch

  • oh where are you my sweet beautiful Phobe?

  • Wow I grew up with the Cars being my #1 band in the 80s thats awesome!!!!

  • keyboard guy stole my dance moves at 2:14

  • @bobcobb19a12 HAHA!!

  • @bobcobb19a12 I LOLed

  • @bobcobb19a12 God that's funny!

  • These guys are awesome!

  • hello brad.....LOL!!!!!!!

  • WoW! This is a GREAT video! s-e-x-y;) Shows The Cars in a wonderousful way xox

  • my 2nd favorite Cars song !!!

  • this video is so frickin 80's!

  • When they invent the time machine, this is the time I'm returning to live again. The begining of Techno.

  • @jmurray1157

you mean the beginning of the "new wave" of rock

  • @jmurray1157 If you want to go back earlier check out Kraftwerk. I would consider them the real beginning.

  • Was blasting this in my car today.

  • them was the days!

  • I saw the Cars on their Door to Door tour in Indianapolis as their run was winding down. This song wasn't a favorite of mine but that night the amped it up (at least in my mind, probably not really) and this was the best song of the whole show. I still remember that repeating simple bass note over and over and how loud it was. I think even they were surprised at the crowd's reaction. The even smiled which is something is seemed they rarely did. One of my coolest concert memories.

  • this song is catchy

  • WOAH

  • bens glasses are badass

  • Ben Orr is dead. But he really looked good back then. I bet he had chicks lining up to be with him after that H-town show. Outstanding song Ben. May you rest in peace. Most guys can only dream of having a life like yours.

  • Ric did well for himself too!

  • @corrections189 hey man, Rick did more than well. Look who he married, the best 80's supermodel in the world. and they are still together. he gets to wake up next to her every morning. no rock star did better than Rick!

  • sure57!!

  • I'm really glad they didn't decide to replace Ben on bass, but Hawkes is filling in for him, and Ric will do a pretty good job of mimicking Ben if they do this or Drive. As for writing, didn't matter much, because Ric wrote everything for the most part.

  • this isnt complex or "better" music and it definitely aint more complex than the music today, listen to it and analyze it. a catchy extremly simple and short melody & cheap synthesizers all the way... it sounds good, no doubt and i love this track, but the statement that its better or more complex is just plain dumb.

  • Ben's got a Miami Vice/ Max Headroom look going, but it don't matter -- he'd be cool regardless! Time is a thief. Miss you, man.

  • Progressive Cars

  • This song was featured in Fast times At Ridgemount High movie. They show clips of it. Phoebe Cates in her bathing suit. MEOW!

  • @Deanocub and they show her tits in the R rated version!!!!

  • i love the 80s for the music and hate them for the Music Videos !! Experimental shades and visions nobody has seen before

  • Great song but sucky video, except for Ben of course. What's the big deal about some average looking skinny chick taking off her top? Happens all the time. She ain't hot or got much anyway. Many women are better than that. People are weird and pigs (men). So stupid. Wonder who' idea it was to put that vid in the show? Hmmmm..... Ric is in it too : /

  • I love how this song just continues to build and build off of Ric's opening lick.

  • The Cars were truly great. They bridged a gap between hard- heavy rock like Led Zep, pot head, partyer music and new wave-punk, spiked hair music. They appealed to so many , the first two albums especially. No other band was like them. One of those things where the right bunch of people at the right time came together and the magic just happened and they knew when to call it quits too.

  • @Doosterify - the Cars were one of my favs. I agree with your comment 100%.

  • Phoebe Cates theme!

  • My bands did a lot of the Cars tunes back in those days. I played keys as well as guitar.

  • The Summit.... aka Lakewood Church : O

  • Underrated band. Not as big as the Beatles or Led Zep but innovative for starting the new wave genre

  • Love the cars forever

  • anyone know ehre i can get those sunglasses ben is wearing?

  • COOL beyond cool

  • The Cars had some of the best fucking album covers out there

  • it's so easy to fly through a window, awesome

  • @xkcman

    Cool line.

  • The absolute, undisputed KINGS of NEW WAVE. THESE FUCKERS RULE.

  • my fav. CARS song!

  • Probably one of the greatest rock sounds/bands who ever came across the screen/stage.

  • Phoebe Cates!!! OMG.

  • S uprise: The Cars were not Rick, they were Ben.

  • @51Thundersticks Yep. Although I admire Rick O'Car-sick, Ben was the man. I'm guessing you know about their influences from Vega, etc..

  • @51Thundersticks Rick Ocasic wrote all the songs. It was Rick. Ben sang and played bass. Rick was the creative force behind the music. They were all great, nonetheless...

  • great mucians still my fv song by them and it was a b side of a single criminal.........geat talent

  • great song!!!

  • There is cool and then there's Ben! Super cool..

  • Love The Cars but not great live show, I'm sorry to say.more a studio band.

The 80's was a good decade, but in the 70's there was Zepplin..Floyd..Tull...Who...Stones.....

  • @StopLiesSeeTruth Ever see The Cars live?

  • @hazeltyler89 Twice, back in 85 amd 91

  • @StopLiesSeeTruth Lucky bugger! :) Guess I'll have to be happy with Youtube, lol.

  • @hazeltyler89 As far as I know a version of the cars toured this year!

  • @StopLiesSeeTruth Not the same without Ben for me....I might consider going to see Elliot, Ric, Dave and Greg if they decided to tour together again. Ben was always my favourite, but I do still love the other members for their amazing talents as well.

  • @hazeltyler89 you are going to get you chance! After 23 years the 4 living members of the Cars are getting back together to record a new album and tour!!!

  • Excellent!

  • Beautiful, beeaauutifulllll Ben

  • these guys sound awesome live some bands suck live because they are sloppy

  • Oh God!!! BEN!!!! You are my fantasy when i hera this song. mmm...

  • Another great band gone forever. I can't stand the top 40 these days. Not many good musicians left it seems.

  • I mizz The Cars these dayz! They roxed! Hope they do a reunion tour someday soon thu! ;-P

  • Cool is when you don't even try......

  • When I first heard this song I was totally blown away. The Cars were a new sound in the mainstream. Maybe not underground, but they were something new on the radio.

  • Great song, great band!

  • This is Perfect !!! Miss it all , as time goes by.

  • Ditto.. What a PERFECT SINGER...individual.. Miss him soooo FREAKKIN much!!

  • hey brad... you know how cute i always thought you are lol

  • Great song by one of my all time favorite bands!!

    RIP Benjamin Orr

  • Ben Rocks!!

  • how would you set your amp to play this song

like, insane, metal, clear, or crunch?

  • @MitsukiRox You need to use an overdriven sound, no metal tone or anything like that, just a good, moderately distorted sound.

  • @typsypyg thank you so much! :D

  • Benjamin Orr very sadly missed...very gorgeous and talented musician...RIP Ben

  • Great song

  • @DHMwithT... I do not think so, the song is special...

  • Super solo bass ... I love Him

  • I always loved this sound...partied hard to it time and again. LOL

Leave it to Todd to take this crazy-good shit on. He is..... well I'm out o words for Todd. ya'll know.he's Todd!

  • LOVE THE 80'S

  • Every song the cars did is genius! pure genius

  • god this song is soo bad ass.

  • I was there! Section 101, row F, seat 1. Absolutely an amazing show!

  • i hope pheobe cates dosnt catch me doing somethin LOL!!

  • I actually saw this tour in 84 when I was 17. Little did we all know then that this awesome band was to end just a few years later. Such good times.

  • All these current poser wanna be rock and pop bands today...take note from these guys... Real musicians here.

  • @sharpenedskull Don't you see the circular logic here? You could argue that classical musicians are much better than these guys because they play more complex music. To most people its not about the musicianship, its about the art, its about the emotion, and most of all its about what is catchy.

  • Mmmmmmmmmmm.... Phoebe Cates!!!!

  • oh my!!

  • @tpc33 Doesn't anybody knock anymore?!?

  • @JonnyLikesPie lol!!! ;) that scene was great in Fast Times!

  • The Cars were often criticised for performing live exactly as the song sounded on album. I never thought that was a bad thing. This is a great example.

  • RIP Benjamin Orr. you was a flossin' boss.

  • great cars song, wonder why ben sings in this video where ric does it on the album and in another video. i like ben''s bowie like growl better

  • @kearneyse1

Ben Orr sings lead vocals and plays bass guitar on this track.

  • i just heard this song 4 the first time in my car this morning, thing sounds bad ass

  • Wha? That dbag can.t even sing.

  • @DarthHater100 That is the stupidest comment ive ever read... Ever thought of suicide?? You should look into it..!

  • Miss you Ben!!!!!

  • Ah yes The Summit. Many a great rock and roll show was held there. Now it's full of bible pounding Jesus freaks and money changers.

  • This song has always been great on it's own...away from some dumb movie.

  • Houston, The Summit, 1984 and of course the legendary Cars. Priceless and Classic!

  • I never heard it in any movie and I'm glad, because it would've ruined it for me as this was always one of my favorite songs by them. Thanks Ben for making it special.
