  • This is a masterpiece of melancholy.

Experiencing beauty like this makes me strangely thankful for depression.

  • The city of lost children brought me here.

  • You'll find this song on iTunes.

  • I discovered this only today -through BBC Radio 4. It's wonderful. John Boulton

  • Beautiful!

This song was in the Patrice Leconte film "la Fille sur le Pont" (a wonderful movie, by the way...), I've discovered it thanks to the film and have been looking for it since then.

If anyone knows if this song is available on CD, please let me know!!

Thanks for putting it on YOUTUBE.

  • is that what she looked like when she sung this?

  • I can't give you all my dreams Nor the life I live. You and I know what friendship means, That's all we got to give. Who will take your dreams away Takes your soul another day. What can never be lost is gone, It's stolen in a way. Please, don't stand too close to me, Can you hear my heart ? Take my warmth and lean on me When we're not apart. Now our mission is complete And our friends are hid. Evil things brought down by the light, Life goes on until the end.
  • polecam moje...;D...pozdrawiam

  • ..like a true masterpiece..

  • This song is less annoying now that I know it's not being sung by a guy. Still, does anyone really like this or are they just being nice to an old lady?

  • i see this over drum n bass

    A

  • Quale canzone a dedicato a Ulrike Meinhof?sigh

  • Amazing song

  • For the few people who didn't already know this, the song is at the end of the french film "The City of Lost Children" and the song fits masterfully. Weird, weird movie but ultimately rewarding. Ends on kind of a high note but then this song comes on and you say "whoa....I just got my ass kicked..."

  • @Ratgrappler Yes you are so right, a great movie and this song fits wonderfully well.

  • @DirkjeA For sure. Creepy and beautiful at the same time. Movie and song both.

  • Very beautiful song, lovely melody!

  • beautiful song :)

  • Closing credits of City of Lost Children as well if I'm correct.

  • Just amazing...

  • very nice ! です.

  • e' bellissima mi fa impazzire

  • great song marianne has a great voice! shame i dont

  • This song is so gorgeous. I wrote the lyrics down and put them in the pocket of my best friend at his wake so that he would be cremated with it. He too was a heroin addict but unlike Marianne he just could not kick his habit. Anyway thank you for posting this video. It would have been a great song on a Faithfull album.

  • So sad, but she describes her life's troubles and tribulations through her art

    Uno caro saluto-Annika

  • From the movie "City of Lost Children" but also used later in "Girl on the Bridge"

  • I heard it on "Girl on the Bridge", loved it ... but couldn't find the soundtrack, searched the net for hours

  • @classic20 Hi there! Any luck with the search? I cannot find it either. Somebody said I could try the album "The Cinema de Patrice Leconte (Bande Originale) but it's practically not available.... ;(

  • @klimkovsky I did find it. I've posted the response on your profile. Have fun! =]

  • @classic20 Hi, thanks! But I don't see anything posted, can you post it again?! Thanks a lot! :)

  • @klimkovsky Sure! What I posted was: search on google for: youtube to mp3 and click I'm feeling lucky! Then at the site that just opened, put the link of the Marianne Faithful song and convert it to an MP3 file and download it! Hope that helped...

  • Thanks for this sublim song!!! I've searched the title for a long time. Thanks YouTube too!

  • The music is by Angelo Badalamenti ("Twin Peaks" and others).

    Great!

  • girl on the bridge :(((((((

  • Now I get it: the version you suggest me has a different title and a different intro. This is why I couldn't recognize it in the mp3 website I checked first (they only give 30 sec. preview). By the way, if anyone know where the version with no intro is (the version used by Laconte in "The girl on the bridge"), let me know. Else, thank you anyway as now I know I can have the long version at least :)

  • Someone has just put up the long 6 min version of this on YTube search for "Gary City Lost Children.wmv". It has the creepy musicbox into and instrumental ending. Also check out the film clips for "City Of Lost Children" the best French film ever !!!

  • also used to a film with vanessa paradis and daniel ......amazing!!!

  • The fantastic French movie La Fille Sur Le Pont (In English The Girl On The Bridge).

Probably the next best French Film!!!

  • A sad song. Strong, powerfull and precious voice thats singing that kind of music.

    Faithfull, faithless...

    5*

  • Where can I download this song!!!! I cannot find it anywhere, anywhere, in which album is it?

  • Actually called "Who Will Take YOUR Dreams Away", with orchestration by Angelo Badalamenti. The first film in which this song (which was written by Marianne) was used was called "City of Lost Children" (Cite des Enfants Perdus) and is available on a CD of the Soundtrack released by Polygram in 1995. The lyric is written especially for "City of Lost Children" and speaks of the themes of that movie. Used in other films since.

  • I checked: there is no song with that title in that album

  • you can download it from ARES i have it from there.

  • I couldn't find any song from her with THAT specific title. Could you please send me the link? Or does it have a different title?

  • I just wrote: "who will take my dreams away" on the searcher and a list with the song appear. If not, try writing just marianne faithful and see the songs that appear on the list to download.

  • ACABO DE VER POR SEGUNDA VEZ ESTA IMPRESIONANTE

PELICULA. bELLISIMA. EMOCIONANTE. lA SUERTE, EL DESTINO.....

  • Yo nunca la he visto T_T quiero verla, solamente jugue el juego en playstation y me llamo mucho la atencion.

  • I have to add, it is very Angelo Badalamenti-like. Brilliant.

  • Waw, I love this song!!! The first time I heared it on a movie I got goose bumps.

  • Simply Amazing ! I can't give less than five stars for it. Thanks!

  • Brilliant song, never realized it was Mariane Faithful, been looking for it, thanks.

  • the first time i heard this song was while watching the end titles of a movie...

    La Cité des enfants perdus

    or in english

The City of the Lost Children

    favorite song, favorite movie...

    thank you for sharing...

  • I agree about the song, I too got struck while watching the titles. But please, the movie was quite depressing. One of the saddest movies I have watched in my life.

  • it's by Angelo Badalamenti!
