  • Thank you very much! In grade wleve in Canada doing this, only we don't have that chart to determine metal activity. We just learnt that the anode will usually be the S.R.A and your cathode S.O.A

  • Very nice review. I like your enthusiasm!

  • i wish you were my professor!

  • Why do you call the side thats losing electrons anode? shouldnt it be called cathode because its negative as its losing electrons.? In a hydrogen-oxygen fuel cell H2 is losing electrons so it will be called anode? but on a diagram its got a positive sign

  • @hupper12345 REGARDLESS of the type of cell, the ANODE is where oxidation (loss of electrons) occurs and the CATHODE is where reduction (gain of electrons) occurs. Always, always, always, no exceptions EVER.

  • In voltaic cells, chathode is the positive one, but in electolytic cells, cathode is the negative one?

  • @armalik17 Yep!

  • @MarkRosengarten

Oh I get it.....(was confused for a second)

well, that clears things up a little.

  • thank you so much!! :)

  • wheres the 12.2 b?
