@Crosswalknorway he's right actually, it's a well known 'rumour' (spread amongst circles within the military) that the SAS were constantly active in Ireland during the 80's. They were often plain clothes and they used to be sent in to clear tower blocks for IRA to make it safe for regular soldiers to patrol the area. every soldier was issued with a photo book of wanted and suspected members, these books were updated every so often, with faces mysteriously disappearing from the pages. SAS has been in many conflicts in every decade since WW II. They spent every day in N Ireland over 20 years. Theris never a fully trained SAS guy they all do tours in different areas theirs no basic training that makes them what they are in 20 weeks like in other armies. Comnapre Seals to the SBS the SBS are the underwater version of the SAS. Dont say the USA has seen more action, every conflict the USA is in at the minimum the UK SAS & SBS are called on.

My uncules boss was in the sas in northern ireland and he sed he staked out the IRA for days and then moved in, killing a few and planted bugs and sabotaged the IRA weapons so that when they were about to attempt a terroris act, the weapons woudnt work haha

@Crosswalknorway he's right actually, it's a well known 'rumour' (spread amongst circles within the military) that the SAS were constantly active in Ireland during the 80's. They were often plain clothes and they used to be sent in to clear tower blocks for IRA to make it safe for regular soldiers to patrol the area. every soldier was issued with a photo book of wanted and suspected members, these books were updated every so often, with faces mysteriously disappearing from the pages. No prizes..

@usarmycaptainamerica I've got a lot of respect for what you do. I'm doing climate science at uni, it's something im good at, and should make some decent cash when i start to get old and grey. But I want to do some time in the infantry first, royal anglian regiment, grenadier guards, the rifles. I don't know yet lol, got 4 years to think about it. Will you re enlist?

People die in selection and training every year, the final week of selection is interrogation with a hint of torture, if you give any information away, you're out. Of course everyone would love to be SF, but they are the best of the best.

SAS has been in many conflicts in every decade since WW II. They spent every day in N Ireland over 20 years. Theris never a fully trained SAS guy they all do tours in different areas theirs no basic training that makes them what they are in 20 weeks like in other armies. Comnapre Seals to the SBS the SBS are the underwater version of the SAS. Dont say the USA has seen more action, every conflict the USA is in at the minimum the UK SAS & SBS are called on.
