  • What PSI boost were you running? Did it have an intercooler?

  • @BeulahLips At the time of that video it was 11psi.

  • @BigKahuna13 : I'm curious, did you have any back to back comparison of the 4L60E vs 4L80E? I'm looking for documentation as to how much HP loss there is with the 80E. Which you liked better, what RPM your shift points were at. I discovered the 60E drops around 3000 RPM when shifting 1-2 at 5800, and an LT4 with GM Hotcam falls flat on it's face. Not as bad with the low rpm stock motor with less RPM drop and flatter torque curve. Is that why you ran the 80E?

  • @BeulahLips: To elaborate, I'm wondering if the equally spaced ratios of the 80E overcome the extra power hogging parasitic losses vs. the 60E.

Too bad, I wish they made a 60E with evenly spaced ratios...(does anyone?)

What us hot rodders really need is a 60E with FIVE speeds, and strong.. that would be the bomb.

  • Lot closer to 615 fly wheel HP than 715 clown

  • @ND4SPDspecV Learn some facts. 4L80E sucks about 20-23% power out. Do the math. Clown.

  • chevy should have waited a few years and made these with the ls motor than it would have been a better car... lt1's are shit

  • Check out 96 impala supersport with Wilwood brake and 3 piece wheels type in jasonbatson and check it out.

  • JUNK!

  • @ BigKahuna13- when i grow up i wanna be just like.

im 18 and got my 94 SS a few months ago, first car and im working on it day by day... one day well meet...

  • what kinda trans are you using that it's sucking up 162hp between the crankshaft and the rear wheels...?

  • My dream car

  • BK FTMW! I hope to have my SS that in shape someday

  • i was thinkin more along the lines of 643bhp, where did ya get 715bhp? I make 580rwhp and that equals out to be around 690bhp...

  • du bist hesslcih

  • whats with the 150 hp loss from fw to rw...seems like alot

  • i might get another cop car in the future and install a LS2 in it. Would like to get a LS7 but theyre too costly for me. I dont make money like those rich guys and the Wall Street guys.

  • These cars are always under appreciated but so awesome!! I want one someday, and this is coming from an avid Mustang guy! Nice Impala!!! Keep up the great work!

  • **NICE SS*** whats ur time 1/4 mi??

  • @LindseyFamilia That SS ran as fast as 10.80 at 126. It currently runs high 10's low 11's with a different setup. It now has a 396, no blower, just some nitrous. It's also now owned by Shane at Carolina Performance Transmissions in Greensboro, NC.

  • Almost as scary as my modified SRT8. Almost.

  • @Wicked96SS Uh-huh. And what does your SRT8 run, partner?

  • nice ss but why do cars lose so much horsepower from the flywheel to the ground thats a loss of 162hp would be crazy if you could put all 715hp to the ground

  • Absolutely wicked! Anyone interested in a stock '95?

  • @wheelman462 yes deffinately how much

  • I just bought a 94 caprice ls, with the positraction rear end, upgraded suspension, 350, 5.7 vette engine. I have everything the ss has except the suspension, which I plan on getting though so it will handle better.

  • i always wanted to throw a wrench in between the tire and Dyna when their doin a pull just to see how far it would shoot out the other side.

  • Not hating on anything but where is all the power going to how is there that much lost in the drivetrain somewhere????

  • That spoiler looks bigger than normal...

  • @gabed96 that's what she said to the sailor.

  • That damn thing is scary! I have a stock 94 Caprice 9C-1 and just got new Flowmasters on but plan on getting Tri-y headers and 3" exhaust. After that, wanna go with a LT-4 cam and have the stock heads ported and polished and port matched with the headers. Will go with another electric fuel pump (Walboro) and change the rear end gears--to 3.42 posi . I still want those top end jaunts on the highway like the big 70 Dodge Police Intercepter and 69 Chevy 9C-1 Police intercepter.

  • @BNforever2009 I had 3.73 gears for years, way way better than 3.42's. Don't waste your money on 3.42's. I got 20 mpg on the highway with 3.73's. It's one of the 'trust me you'll love it' mods you have to do. As a matter of fact after all these years I just changed to 4.10 gears in my 95 SS and it's even more fun than the 3.73's! BTW I still can do 130 on the highway so don't worry about the gears.

  • @BNforever2009 Yeah i would go with 3.73's, I have a 95 9C-1 with them and I dont have to shift into 4th until around 115 so u will have plenty of highway speed.

  • @BNforever2009 Honestly, the LT1 was cool back in the day but for the money you spend making this LT1 "faster" you might as well install an LS1 with some AFR heads or go Big Block like a 496/540

  • @k9forkids This video is from 2005. A lot has changed since then. I run a TB SS with a modded LS2, love the LSx engines, but don't ever diss on the LT1. Some people run LT1's to stay in the LTx classes. Agreed that the LSx blows the LTx away though. I currently run a 95 Impala SS with a 396 and its a beast, love that engine.

  • a heavy car like this pullin this much power? stray cats better look both ways b4 crossing the street or they're gonna be flying thru someone's kitchen window!

  • wow you lost almost 200 hp through the drivetrain. Im sure you can improve your rwhp.

  • At 0:45 if anyone was standing behind it chances are they would have been blown away.

  • nice car man

  • what the F*ck i just crapped myself! that was sick....im gonna watch it again!

  • im a ford guy but this is very nice.

  • damn dude that was nice

  • you lost 162hp at the wheels??? thats like 23%!

  • @XxMusclecarsxX yeah when i saw that i thought that something was wrong myself you should loss maybe 10 or 15 % through the powertrain and drivetrain but that seems exessive!

  • i love this car.... lucky who ever owns it. JUST LOOKS LIKE A BEASST

  • Oh my goodness!!

  • that thing is sick! nice car man, GM all the way!

  • Hey Im having problems with the wiring of the 4L80e to the 96 model could you call me or e mail me....

  • i love the last comment lmfaoooo..... and im in love with ur imp now thats a beast keep up the good work.

  • just to let you guys know that a real 95 Impala ss with a different color lol.

Its a new trend taking off the Impala emblems and side scripts and it makes the look more smoother .

  • 4l80 uses a lot of the same or similar hard parts as a th400. Both power robbing tranny's BUT that doesn't mean they don't work good. I garan-damn-tee that a car with a th400 at those high power level will run faster than a t56'd car at the track even though the t56 car will allow more power to get to the dyno. Not to mention th400/4l80e's are pretty tough tranny's to kill which is what you need with that kind of power. I wonder how much power the blower is eating at that power level. 60+hp?

  • it looses 163 HP by the time it gets to the wheels o_O

  • 162

  • my uncle has one of those and he calls it a caprice ss

  • @slicer119/ASCMustang88 its a 9c1 police interceptor basically an impala that was treated like a race horse to catch criminals then sold to the public after the mileage got too high

  • Well they do look a lot alike... The major difference is that the Impala has an LT1 (Corvette engine) and the caprice a 350. But the exterior look of the Impala and the Caprice are basicly the same...

  • @slicer119 than its not an impala its a caprice two different cars but look similar to each other but the impala is a more prestigious i mean dont get me wrong the caprice is a nice car but just the impala name alone is orgasmic but sadly they fucked up the once beautiful car the 2006 and up impalas are so damn ugly in my opinion from what they used to be

  • i got a 95 impala ss on the title it say police and on the dash it says caprice clasic so what is it is it a ss or caprice i check the vin and it was a reall ss from there but i dont no

  • Comment removed

  • I'll tell you what. When you can drive your car across the country, change tires and nothing else, and road race it, autocross it, win a car show, win a sound off competition, and win a drag race with it you can comment about which blower to put on my car. PS I watched your video, you can't drive to save your life.

  • pwned.

  • @BigKahuna13 your a ISSCA member arent you lol very nice :)

  • hahaha you really had to put fly wheel horsepower for these morons....lmao dont they see your real wheels on the dyno haha i love youtube...hows this thing doing? anything new

  • I like those smooth bumper covers, I had a set on my SS they look a lot better than those caprice bumpers with the built in trim on stock impalas looks flush!

  • f'ing niiiiiice! beautiful car!! (i remember the old ad that used to be in the magazine. "lord vader, your car is ready" i just thought that was sick!)

  • does anyone know where i could find a spoiler like that one

  • yes I could prob find one for you

  • yes you can try david . langness at cs you-know-the-rest

  • That's a bad girl right there....does anybody know of some nice modifications for the impala SS?

  • just bor everything and you will have 429 then nice exaust and a cole bolt onls like a knk and you cold also run nos if u would like

  • OK, the 94-96 Impala SS/Caprice LTZ *never* came with an LT4. Why would the Caprice Classic come with the Corvette Grand Sport engine, but the Impala SS come with the base Corvette mill?

  • Yeah, no LT4 in any Impala SS. BUT...a lot of guys with LT1's went out and got the heads/cam/intake to do an LT4 top end to get the extra 40 hp back then.

Also, I don't think they made the LTZ after 1993 since they made the SS starting in 1994. The LTZ was the "SS" version of a regular Caprice up to 1993.

  • you mean in america right ?

cause here there is alot of ltz from 94 until 09 and ss 2

  • I'm Saudi. I had a 96 LTZ with an LT1. Now I have a 96 SS with an LT1.

  • @BigKahuna13 Hi, they made LTZ untill 1996 we own one, but it comes with digital gauge

  • pinkfloyd your a moron!!! gettin my Impala SS in a few weeks. Cant wait

  • PINKFLOYDFREAK55 GET OF DIS FUCKN VIDEO CUZ WE LIKE 2 KNOW WAT WE R TALKIN BOUT ON HERE!!! THE 94-96 caprice classic eitha came with a 4.3L v8 or the 5.7l lt1...wtf did u get that lt4 shit from??? go do ur homework n research

  • Hey PinkFloyd, the caprice NEVER came with the lt4, neither did the impala ss. What are talking about, you know nothing. The SS only came with the lt1.

  • i have a couple of questions

1 is ss only lt1 or there is lt4

2 how could i know the difference from just looking?

  • The 94-96's Caprice Classic's have the LT4

ALL 94-96 Impalas are SS models and have the LT1, there were no base Impalas for that generation.

  • thanks

  • thought driveline is worth 10-20 HP loss. why is there a 162HP difference in front and rear HP??

  • it's a percentage. more hp, more lost.

  • 15-25% loss not a given hp lose its a percent really

  • Scary

  • I got one!

  • nice build

  • believe it, it's real. Bill has had more impalas than the number of times most of you have gotten laid. don't be madd hatErZ yo.

For the other guy hating on the 4l80e...do you realize a th400 uses most of the same hard parts. Parasitic loss would probably be similar with either (i.e; A LOT) but that's the cost you pay for not blowing shit up every track outing.

  • Sweet Car!

  • does it really matter if we believe him or not...

  • Believe who? Me? I'm confused. Check my other vids, I have one with the dyno sheet posted too. Not sure why this vid gets all the hits, the other one is better.

  • You dont Believe him? This thing is insane. I live by him and i got a 96 impala too. i cant wait to see this car in a few days!

  • show the dyno sheet!

  • check my vids, there is another vid that has the dyno sheet attached to it

  • my neighbor has a 96 and its a plum color hes gutting the engine and putting a 454 in it and claims it should get 600hp

  • At the flywheel means how much HP the engine is actually making at the crank/flywheel. Like the HP #'s you see cars advertised with for sale.

Then you have wheel hp which will show less # due to drive train loss

  • wat does fly wheel mean when they says "at tha fly wheel"?

  • that is the actual power that the motor is making...the 553 rear wheel horse power is the power touching the ground which is y he refers to the 4l80e transmission as power sapping cuz its a peice of shit electronic controlled shit ratio trans so hes loosing tons of power....should go to a 700r4 or turbo400 hed prolly free up 50horse or more to the ground

  • 700R4? LOL that's a piece of garbage. TH400 if he wants performance.

  • agreed the TH400 is a better tranny but the 700r4 would b a direct bolt up...the TH400 is not comp controled at all so it would require a lil bit more work that really wouldnt b worth it...put a strong valvebody in the 700r4 and ud do fine at the track and still have everyday driveability

  • LOL. I kept breaking 4L60E's and I drove it all over the country to races so I couldn't so a Turbo400. At the time I thought a 4L80E was the answer since it took a vicious pounding.

  • spintech is the best for lt1s sounds great

  • badass! I always thought these bodies were one of the best impala bodies ever made!!

  • okay i was getting worried like 30 seconds in the video cause it didnt sound like it had any balls to it

  • Im going to pick up my 94 SS next week, found one with low miles for a steal.... I only plan on driving it on the weekends!!! Cant wait!!! Im gonna keep the outside stock, but Im thinking about going Crate Motor and bigger trans!!!

  • For you ricers this is what a motor should sound like, not a pissed of weed wacker. Get it.

  • Even though you're right in this case, Listen to the sound of a Ferrari... <3

  • hahaha hes got two cars... yea a civic and a neon... definitely worth bragging about i guess. hes jst one of the thousands of people drving an SRT-4 that thinks that their car is faster than god. dodge slapped a turbo on a neon. thats it. time for some real V-8 power, but these ricers have no idea what real power or torque is. i think you should have something worth bragging about if your gonna post something about this video.

  • its not fuckin FWHP... its RWHP get your facts straight son

  • fwhp = fly wheel horsepower aka bhp

I don't even think ricer boy terminology so sorry I confused people

    BTW, what are you driving?

  • put it this way... its a vtec.. thats all ima say... and my bad i was gunna recomment this apologizing about it cause i was reading wat everyone else was sayin... haha being a vtec owner fwhp just snaps in my head as front wheel hp know wat i mean. but ye i guess im a ricer.. but hey.. i got love for american muscle.. i always wanted to own a 96 impala ss but gas prices cut me from doing that.. so im stuck with a vtec and im about to restore a totaled Neon SRT for a senior project.

  • how much boost are you running on that vtec? i'd hope 18 or better. I'm a american muscle person but i have tuner friends if you wanna put some money up.

not knocking Honda's at all because they can achieve some nice hp numbers and are still gas friendly, but just remember real race cars lift the front wheels, not put power through them!

  • yes indeed... hondas can get some nice hp with the goods.... haha... but im still working on tuning it.. i bought it with the turbo on it... and i've been tweakin it since. i still gotta install my gauges cause idk how much boost i got. im thinking of taking out the b16 and put in a k20... but that would interfere with the srt4 thats in my driveway haha

  • By time that 4banger reaches this v8's hp, your car will barely be streetable and you have to be on a diet of race gas.

  • if ur talking bout that caprice with a 4 banger your a DUMB ASS it has a v8 6.0

  • My comment was a reply to someone building a HO 4banger. nowhere did I state or imply the Impala/Caprice had a 4banger. DUMB ASS.

  • Internet badass, stand back!

  • Dumbness hits an all time high.

  • The B Platform Impala SS had a 5.7 "LT1". The 6.0 I believe you're referring to is an "LS2" motor which could be found in Earlier C6 Corvettes, later Pontiac GTO (Holdens) and the SSR. 6.0 also could refer to GM truck motors such as a the Vortec 6000 but then you'd be completely way off track.

I'd watch the whole dumbass comments when you don't come correct with your own info. ;)

  • @blackdubsociety you need more hp for bigger heavier cars so a FR car that weighs 2600lbs would need maybe 300or 350 at the wheels to kick that cars ass.

  • i wanna know how a rear wheel drive vehicle has a FWHP rating? help somebody?..lol..this vid sucks..prob fake

  • FWHP= FLY WHEEL horsepower

  • please tell me how someone managed to fake this video? maybe you just a lil jealous that you don't have it?

  • thats great..YOU DRIVE A NEON!!!..what a dink

  • sweet...awesome dude!!!

  • im selling my 1996 chevrolet impala ss has 130000 im in nyc i want 5k or best offer its in fair condition runs good needs paint job and a tail light call me at 9175876864 im willin to meet a person in another state or watever my name is ray thanks

  • i was thrown off also by the fwdhp but it makes since usally brake horse power is at the flywheel im use to that term but anyway awesome ride

  • ok man you put that this thing has 715 FWHP (front wheel horsepower) WTF??? never in my life seen a impala front wheel drive and/or all wheel drive...

  • fwhp = flywheel horsepower as in how the car makers advertise horsepower

  • what are you fucking retarted bhp is how car manufacturers measure power as in brake horsepower as in how much reaches the brakes and as you can see he is measuring on a wheel dyno meaning it would be rwhp rear wheel horsepower he is being measured at the wheels in order to measure bhp or as you made up fwhp...the engine would have to be removed and ran on a life support system so do me a favor and know what your saying before you say it

  • actually moron the engine was bench tested on a stand by the builder - so yeah it was on 'life support' - it also went on the dyno as you can see - and anyone with half a brain knows just the rear wheels ONLY are cranking. But whatever. Just post up pics and vids of your car, I'm sure it's real badass and runs some sweet 16's at 80 mph. Rock out!

  • why dont you look in my profile lol i have 2 cars, and the with actual power adders weighs less and runs a lil less hp but i bet it'll take that impala

  • I just checked your profile. YOU HAVE A NEON! HAHAHAHAHA! That thing is disposable. Don't chicks drive Neons? And if you are going to talk big you better run in the 10's or faster. Bring cash or shut your mouth. BTW - YOU DRIVE A NEON! HAHAHAHAHAHA!

  • LOL ownd, NEON!

  • how much money did u put into ur engine

  • I hate when 4 cylinder drivers think they can take a big block v8. I own a 96 Lt1 caprice and i've left rubber on many neon windshields, i jus wish they learn already. sweet ride !

  • An LT1 Is a small block. Btw, even though I'm also a Domestic man myself, an LT1 Caprice is nothing special.

They're heavy, detuned, and sluggish. Sure you're leaving neons in the dust....but so what they're like 18 second cars.

  • I bet the one in the video does better than 18 seconds.

  • ...that would be a safe bet.....good evaulation there champ.

This is an impala, not a caprice

  • He's got other vids of it running 12s, still want to bet?

  • 12's are faster than 18's. Case closed.

  • Don't get the cars confused. I have/had 4 Impala SS's. That 96 blower car in THIS vid runs 11's and is in North Carolina with the owner of CPT. The 95 SS is NA and runs 12's, 11's on the spray. Sorry for the confusion.

  • @BigKahuna13 thats fuckin sad to see all that car and all it runs is 11's fuck i got a homey with a 4 door integra with a turbo running 12.2's on 10psi. and pump gas wit octane boost. and im not a honda fanboy.

  • no he is right, they are severely overrated in factory trim. they run like 15's stock. not very impressive. obviously this one is not stock, but you get the point. and a 9c1 caprice is the exact same as the impala, just cheaper.

  • they are overrated in stock trim but are completely badass with minor tuning and minor parts added. airflow parts do so much for this car and it is not a hard care to get into the 11 to 12 marker.

  • agreed

  • Overrated? you must be kidding. You drive/ever seen one? what do you drive?

  • yes ive driven my moms that has magna flow exhaust and k&n intake ill make a video of it if you would like just let me know...

  • QUEER

  • dout ur neon is gonna take his impala.. lmao

  • your an idiot

  • i think this falls more along the lines of jealousy.

  • Sorry haters...

This car and video is the real deal

  • You claim a loss of around 25%, so 750RWHP through a very loose converter (these are drag specific builds) and a rearend that is commonly known to be significantly less efficient then yours (9" ford vs 8'5" GM) so I guess your earlier 25% statement makes sense then right? So that 750 RWHP has 1000 FWHP according to you?

  • I like how you fudge numbers to make your point. I said 23%, not 25%. That's a 25 HP difference. I also don't see any pics/links to your cars so as far as I am concerned I could care less. I have no interest or reason to doubt other peoples claims about their own cars. I guess since you are obsessing over this you really have nothing else going on. Another internet expert. Nice work.

Finally, I need you to say you don't agree a 4L60E sucks 20% from the flywheel to the rear wheels.

  • Something is wrong if you lost 160HP through a 4L80 and a 8.5" unless you have a 7K stall or something wild. Which according to how you drive the car all over, you do not. Something changed between the engine dyno, and the chassis dyno. Or one needs to be corrected.

  • For the record I am basing this off procharged th400/9" LS1 F-Bodies liek I am building now. It is very common to see low-mid 700RWHP from a maxed D1SC in those cars, and trust me they are NOT making close to 1000 flywheel HP! The 9" eats more then a 8.5" GM 10 bolt any day. For the record I have a 96 impala and am building a procharged 99 camaro and am on impalassforum as big bad black ss. Not just some bored guy talking chit.

  • work on your math - a 700 HP cars losing 20% through parasitic loss is 875 HP at the flywheel

  • That flywheel rating is WAY high. Even a TH400 with a loose converter and a 9" wouldnt eat up that kinda power!!!

  • A 4L80E is the same as a TH400 except it has overdrive. It's the biggest power sapping tranny we've ever seen. AND this has a big converter. AND it's been on an engine dyno before it went in the car. AND we've dyno'd many Impala's with 4L60E's and 4L80E's and seen 20-23% losses. AND Track times/HP calculators have all proven this out. What else ya got? Let's see some vids of your car? You have a lot of dyno experience with 4L60E's and 4L80E's? Post the links.

  • Yah FWHP? Is calculating all the HP loss necessary? Doubt its accurate anyways unless you had an engine dyno, which if you have 715 at the flywheel, and 550 to the wheels your loosing like 160 sumthing horsepower through your drivetrain which is pretty crappy. Most cars only loose about 50 or so. I'd say you probably have about 600 to 620 at the flywheel which is pretty darn good but 715 just sounds a little off to me...anyone else agree?

  • Most automatic 4L60E's lose 20%. The 4L80E is a bigger, heavier, power sapping auto. It can soak up to 25%. Proven fact, didn't make it up. Thanks for playing. And yes, I had the engine dyno'd on a stand before it went in the car N/A without the blower. Please post pics of all your 500-700HP cars that only lose 50hp through an auto tranny.

  • First off i'd like to say GOTDAYUM!!!!! got any video's of the other imp's getting dyno'd? i haven't found any yet. Hell of a nice car though. Now moving along to the troll.....

Maybe you'd like to post up a video of your car with atleast half that horsepower. It's sad when someone has to come along and hate on another persons accomplishments. Obviously if he's got it on the dyno, he could easily pull out some printouts of results and shut you down. Do you even own a fast car?

  • SIIICK! is that a spoiler i see? what kind is that bro?

  • It's made by David Langness, and everyone refers to it as a Langness Spoiler. David makes them in urethane or carbon fiber, they are real nice but a bit pricey. Well worth it once you see it. You can reach him at David Langness AT cs dot com - he is good people.

  • fwhp? what ever happnd to crank hp?

in my world fwhp is Front wheel hp

    ....or bhp

  • When you buy a new car, and you walk into the dealership, and the new Z06 Vette has 505 HP on the fender, what do you think that is? Flywheel HP or rear wheel HP? It's flywheel HP. Flywheel HP has been around as a rating system since new cars started rolling out of the factories.

  • your world not every one else's world lol

  • ssweet!!!

  • gotta love it, i want monster under the hood with a cadillac interior

  • FWHP - FLY WHEEL HORSE POWER

    gosh... obyously it aint fwd.

Uppgrade to stage3 built tranny homie

    sweet ride
