It doesn't take up memory on the iPod, at least not on mine. I have 1.9G in music and 45MB in wallpapers (not album artwork, just background images) showing in my iTunes and when I check my Ipod it states exactly the same. Yes, I still had 1.9G in music and 45MB in wallpapers before putting the album art.

Besides, even if it's taking up space in your iPod, it's only 100 kb per picture (give or take). So unless you have a 500MB or a 1G iPod it doesn't occupy significant memory space.

OMG

All you have to do is make an iTunes account, but choose (none) on the credit card part. You don't have to give your credit card number!!!
