  • This interviewer's emphasis on lyrics - can't help but wonder if this probing is what became of the end of U2 live performances of "A Celebration" - due to one ambiguous line on the lyrics. The last live performance of "A Celebration" was reportedly in Tokyo during this tour.

  • larry is in what my teacher likes to call the typical teen sitting pose. hehe.

  • ボノの言葉/Japaneseへのメッセージに撃たれた。

    「俺たちU2はダブリン出身だ。日本人も世界に出てくるべきだ。日本人にしかできないことがあるはず。」

    その通りではないか!

  • U2 wrote "Miami"

  • they are very gentle and intelligent. i didnt know how they know who they are...awesome music. i love U2 forever...from a japanese fan.

  • Thank you! I've never seen this.

  • the edge has more of a british accent compared to the others.

  • that's coz he is from England! and his folks are welsh!

  • Anyone watching this may also like 'A Band Called Bert'

  • Edge was bald back then, no wonder he wears a hat all the time.

  • estoy con ustedes u2

  • "My name is the guitar and I play The Edge!"

    great, Edge is so cool^^

  • they look bored

  • Larry:))

  • Haha, the Edge is balding.

  • Wow! I lived in Japan from 1983-1986..the host was the liaison of east/west. I love Japan! this brings back so many memories!

  • How can this be 1983 if "Pride" was already done?

  • Hmmm, that's strange.

Maybe the interview was recorded but wasn't broadcast until The Unforgettable Fire was about to be released.

  • good point - someone is lame for thumbing down my valid question

  • Pride was not already done, this is '83, Pride was done in '84

  • I said Pride couldn't have been done in 83. READ. This is towards the end of 1983 when they toured Japan.

My guess is this interview was a reairing a year later when Pride was done.

  • holy hostility Nominay, CHILL .. t'was a simple comment, dont take offence so easily man, relax

  • am taking my valium now

  • right on

  • YOUGOSLAVIA LOVE U2

  • Totally agree with Bikerbaz1...you can see that even back then Bono was talking out of his ass and being a pretentious twat. The only things thats changed is the mullet. The Edge is a better speaker than him.

  • I don't entirely think that's what bikerbaz was trying to say, though I won't speak for them.

  • Larry is so cute

  • Mexico loves U2!

  • Its not hard to imagine the youg Bono in this video would think of the Bono of today as a mainstream twat.

I thought the comment that "the white flag means the same in Japan as it does in America" was funny...tell that to the marines who fought in Iwo jima!!

  • Haha, little did Bono know, but that mullet would soon get into the hall of fame

  • whats up with the obnoxious back track.

  • This is the exact time period when Bono's mullet was reaching its most perfect form.

  • they look so fresh and innocent here... lol.

  • U2 is best band ever formed. Norway loves U2. The whole world loves them!

  • No matter what country Bono happens to be in, he always says the equivalent of "I'd like to see [INSERT YOUR COUNTRY'S NAME HERE]'s bands all over the world"

  • look at the rest of the band squirm when bono says those ridiculous things

  • ain't that the truth dave, you should try it on reality

  • I agree in Bono when he describes about thier music that is not glossy and it's not hidden behind a mask. Its just natural.

  • China jajakajaja

  • hilarios- if you watche a u2 interview on magic mushrooms today it wud luk like this

  • Bono is such a sweetheart. Absolutly adore him!

  • "i'd like to see japanese bands all over the world" hail bono!!

  • Yep, Bono looks adorable in this video, but if you want to see Bono drunk, see this video : U2 - Nice is such a shitty word

  • Pride (Bono) RULES!!!!

  • mY Name is the GUITAR and I play the EDGE, JAJAJA

  • It's for all the things Bono says that makes me love them...theyre not a shallow fascimile of a sham. They're real people, expressing their feelings, trying to make a difference. And they have. In many ways. They are the greatest band ever to grace this planet...I will argue that to the death.

  • I AGREE WITH YOU 100%. My friend disses U2 and it pisses me off,to death. I think that they are the best band in the world. This band has the coolest members, not to mention the awesome guitar licks of the edge (the echo effect is so cool), the beats and rhythms of both Larry and Adam, and the "Jaw Dropping"

vocals of Bono (especially on Pride, a song I have a lot of trouble singing, that proves how talented they are).

  • One word Bono..iPod.

  • Typical U2. Poor interview guy!!

  • Listening to Bono's interview is like hearing

    a nice song.
