@lra1983 Get rid of your Royals and their minions, make them labour building Earthships, and once they get the idea, they can live in the rubbish bins beside valued animal shelters and barns beside the new home. As for YOU, you need to learn from Michael Ruppert, before your internet, cellphones, and electronics fail.
Use less pumps, they are expensive, manufactured components that will require replacing with time. Use more gravity fed pressure systems. This will require you to build taller buildings. Alternatively you could use elevated water storage, with the water being lifted by means mechanical or evaporatory.
Great informative video just upgrade the resolution. ♥ the concept but at the moment too pricey for me. I would need to buy land then build the earthship.
@mcfardo907 I understand your point in these homes being expensive, but the same could be said for the homes that are sold normally and they don't have the same benifits. Also lets not forget that the upfront cost will be high but in the end you will pay alot less, why ? because you will have no electric bills, water bills monthly and food is grown at your home so money would be saved in other areas you would just pay taxes on the land you own.

@DaliaDawn I'm sorry, but global warming is scientific fact. The planet's temperatures have cycled up and down for ages. Since the Industrial Revolution, the warm cycle has sped up. The planet should not be this warm for many thousands of years. Governments will up taxes because of it because they are irresponsible with their resources, and corporations will create fear of it so they can sell more product. Too much water in one's system causes death. The world can barely sustain 7 billion people, and more are born every day.
@SAOS451316 Oh, Eos the newspaper of which one of the editors is Jose d Fuentes of the science department of Pennsylvania U. whose department was named in the E mail scandal that happened a little over a year ago? That Eos? Why do you think the earth can't support more than 7 billion? Let me ask you this; do you know what the temperature increase is for the last century? I do. It is about 1 degree C. That number is an average and is being reduced because we are in a ten year cooling cycle.
@godbluffvdgg It was but one example of a source which confirms the same statistic. It can support 9 or 10 billion, perhaps, but 7 billion is about the limit when people live as they do today. Resources are limited, and are being consumed faster than replaced. That makes it unsustainable by definition. Yes, and three degrees can be catastrophic. The Earth's cycles do not take ten years. Try five thousand. Individual areas can have them, but not the entire planet. Sources please.
@SAOS451316 Five thousand years ago parts of the world were still exiting the ICE AGE! The Proof of that is at the north and south poles. Re; population support. Do yourself a favor... load google earth, start somewhere on the planet about 7 KM above and grab the earth with the little cursor hand, give it a little drag and watch the earth slowly turn. When you see this earth in all its' glory, the vast open space, and the teeny tiny areas we populate, maybe then you'll understand. reality sucks!
@godbluffvdgg Technically the last ice age ended twelve thousand years ago. I don't believe you understand exactly how fragile the planet is. The fact that we are small does not mean we can't cause harm. Bacteria can kill a human.
@SAOS451316 You seem to think the human is stupid. That may be true for some, but is actually the opposite in reality. We are collectively brilliant beyond measure, you and I are exchanging ideas in real time over boxes filled with circuits. We carry out this task with straight and curved lines universally accepted as information. My point; Do you really think, as smart as the collective is, IT, would allow harm to itself. This is all bigger than you or I. Read some Shakespeare to get the gist
@godbluffvdgg How is this relevant to the debate? Humans are intelligent, certainly, in some aspects, and moronic in others. Yes, computers are marvellous inventions. The 'it' to which you are referring does not control itself. Because we live in a top-down society, 'it' is controlled by the few hundred who claim power over everyone else. Those in power do not care for 'it', but rather only for their own wallets. I happen to love Shakespeare. To which play are you referring?
@SAOS451316 The relevance comes from the point that our subconscious actions are far more prevalent than our conscience ones. In our subconscious we are instinctively doing the right thing. I have seen the turn around in person in my 50 years of life. As you stated above "they" claim power. Well, I claim power over them. Re; Billy S, Hamlet has the most profound lessons, Henry V, Richard III, Macbeths... tomorrow and tomorrow....I will put some favorites in another post.
@godbluffvdgg So are you saying that I subconsciously think that humans are stupid? In my many long years I have seen that humans are stultified in larger groups when they have a lack of good communication, which is the case in the current system, unfortunately. Good for you! Alas, most people just assume that the rich and powerful dominate, and that that is the natural order, i.e. what is right. All those are great reading, though I prefer the Comedies.
@SAOS451316 No, it is impossible to think humans are stupid at the subconscious level. That would be a wrong; The subconscious cannot be wrong. This is why 95% of action is caused at the subconscious. It is the 5% cognizant action that gets us in trouble most often. Re; communication; I know the opposite is true. We are actually communicating at a level greater than has ever existed in the history of man. I would also argue the "most people assume"... Witness this awakening, as it is happening.
I wonder how much it would cost start to finish in the UK. This is a great idea but seems to me that it only works in warm climates and the UK is far from that.
wha wha whaaat???? Goats for meat......that's it, this can't be good for humankind if they are wanting to hurt those poor goats to eat their meat. hahahahah
I was watching a bunch of video's talking about the possible earth changes coming up (like a pole shift, increased volcanic activity and storms...) so I thought that this kind of design would do well in such extreme conditions. I love how it's designed to grow food and collect water and energy. So even if all these crazy things don't happen, I still think it's worth it to build this kind of home.
And instead of promoting this on a wide scale and make it accessible to a large crowd you charge $5000 just for the plans of a 800sq/f studio? And it doesn't even comply with local building codes. ?
@pauluminous Yeah, it's not like he needs money for, say, travel, or materials. An Earthship is not a conventional home, so of course it's not going to comply with building codes. Get over yourself.
That's like saying it's ok to pay $10 for a bread 'cause the baker needs a holiday.
I'm buying a product, I'm not making a donation to support his way of life.
Adobe is already recognized by a lot of building codes. Nontheless a lot peeps who choose this lifestyle are really not spending $5000 on a drawing.
Not to mention that in order to come up with $5000 I'll have to make at least $15000, minus taxes, travel back and fort etc etc. How sustainanble is that?
trying to build this in california major stumbleing blocks with code enforcement and Land use services dont think I can build this in san bernardino county
FABULOUS , WHY DONT MORE COUNTRIES ,GO IN FOR THIS, HERE WE ARE BECOMING, MORE & MORE DEPENDANT ON EVERYTHING THAT COSTS & PEOPLE ARE BECOMING POORER, ALL OVER THE PLANET,
this houses are great! amazing concept! now lets think about all the millions of people who do not own a piece of land to build on! ...one day maybe i'll be able to have land but until then i would love to improve places where I live (already built)
Great if youre a Rothschild or some other aristocrat with land, money and transport who can bribe the local council to let u build it. Not so great if you are the rest of the population who haven't got a penny to your name and have to live in rented accommodation. Technical solutions are not the issue; governments have to go before the people will be able to enjoy sustainable living.
I don't consider myself "green" but I am very interested.. I have been on this website for about 3 hours now and love the concepts and the natural beauty.. I do believe this is what I'm supposed to be doing..
what is the advantage of a black water system with a septic tank over a composting toilet? I had a composting toilet at my previous home and built another from Adobe.... It needs no water and turns your waste into compost which in turn will nurish your soil..... The one i had didn´t smell at all and i live in a very hot country.... Black water systems seem very clever but if u have a septic tank full of waste you then have the task of emptying... Why waste recycled grey water on flushing?
Everyone should add just one of these concepts to their homes. Whether it's a solar panel, grey water systems, the heating/cooling systems, water harvesting, ANYTHING! It will help our planet! (With the perk of saving money)
The Earthship will pass inspection and they are up to code. Many counties have changed thier codes to accomadate Earthship. Earthship is TRUE FREEDOM. Support Michael Reynolds!!
they are expensive to build.. believe it or not an Earth Ship home cost more to build than an ordinary home. But the payoff is helping the environment and eventually lowering your own cost of living. (after the home is paid for).
I need information regarding Earthships in Tropical humid conditions. Will they work or will it be too damp and caused mould mildew etc.. help please !!!
Im not sure why people get so het up against green tech. Surley if its cleaner then its better. Why are so many happy to breath in pollution, poison rivers, and thoughtlessly kill wildlife...not to mention starve developing nations. why be dependant on only 1 source of energy technology ie fossilised carbon. If the greenhouse effect is not happening then at least we get cleaner tech, being developed. If it is happening and we do nothing then we are buggered! oh yea we cant tax the sun and wind.
Not sure where your based FlatfootJohnny....but you certainly can tax sunlight, it was tried in the UK in the 17th and 18th centuries. It was known as 'window tax'. The more windows you had, the more you paid. Eventually people started bricking up their windows to avoid paying so much. As well as being a crime against architecture, it where the expression 'daylight robbery' stems from.
I agree. I think it's because people have been trained to hate compassion. What these people need to know is that the energy companies have been playing us for decades (remember Enron for example? Killing people by turning off their electricity in the hottest of summer or charging them 5 times the price they should?).
• Look at the city water supplies. Flouride? Chlorine? (now they are thinking of Lithium to make us more docile). Still the water is poisoning us?
How about how they are playing with oil prices and food prices. If you don't start taking care of all of your own needs, you are going to be a slave.
You could look at it this way. To be a good American, you should try to not be a burden on America's troubled infrastructure. We're constantly being told about how there are going to be water, food, oil and resource shortages. Make your own by getting off of their poor GRID. It's a war & the Earthship's on the front lines!
@FlatfootJohnny A lot of people are stupid, misinformed, brainwashed, conformant and conservative, in sense that they're sometimes literally afraid of changes and never take the time to think through the situation. On top of that, technology like Earthship endangers the status quo of business world. Neither government nor business men don't want us to be free. They need us to proft, they can't just do that alone.
Anyway, this is how we should live by all means. All people of the Earth.
@FlatfootJohnny dude thats so true, it's money mongering wealth hoarders (~1% of the human population) , that have 99% of the money. they control what direction civilization moves in with their corporations, puppet democracies (hidden fascism), and religion. that's what power is all about, control. it's the wrong kind of power, but power nonetheless.
@FlatfootJohnny it's amazing how the 1% of the population that's trying to live without making an impact are chastised by the other 99% as "hippies" and "tree huggers" or even "liberals". Even though the 1% is making the world a better place for the other 99%. They're so brainwashed by the people who are making money by being part of the problem. We will be the creators of our own hell on Earth.
The house is beautiful, but in order to be sustainable about 20 people would have to live there, and they'd need to limit their travel. When I see crowds of people standing around this house, I wonder how they got there, and where they went after the photo was taken...
Politics and pseudo-science aside, it's a terrific house/greenhouse/etc. These houses are laborious to build. (Note the vid where the guy is packing the soil in the tires with a sledge hammer. I'm wondering if water tamping in lifts wouldn't be just as good with a tiny fraction of the labor? Also I'm wondering about combining the tires with cob on the outside and an sod roof. (Yes, I know they have hard roofs so they can collect water, but it's a hard look and requires lots of insulation.
Global warming was a bad choice of terms to use. Which is why the govt and corps pounced on it. Its climate change, and yes its real. Our planet has been in a state of constant change from the moment it was formed. We as a species are adding to and accelerating that change. |What will be the outcome? I don't know but im not arrigant enough to think nothing will happen.
If you ask me, it's even more arrogant to believe that you, a tiny human, a flee on the Earth's back, have the ability to influence ancient, almost immesurably powerful forces of nature such as climate, that have been around for billions of years. I don't deny that we are polluting nature, and that we could drasticly reduce that pollution without sacrificing too much, but I still don't think there is enough scientific evidence of man-made climate change for it to be considered a valid theory.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Why not publish the results of any experiments you've done on the subject or any work you've done in this field so that the scientific community can review them? If you have good evidence to counter the majority scientific opinion then I'm sure they'd be interested. If, on the other hand, yours are just the typical uneducated ramblings of the average ignorant cunt, then perhaps they won't have much time for you.
Global warmers (or climate changers, as they are now called when the Earth is cooling) should present adequate evidence first, since it's they who started this whole hysteria.
PS! Why are you being so defensive? It's a scientific theory, not a religious belief, it's meant to be challenged.
Why does it matter if Global Warming or Cooling is an issue? All that shit fills up landfills anyway! And they don't pay one red cent to run the house.
You're right, it doesn't, it's not even an issue. There are however legitimate environmental concerns, like pollution, overfarming, overfishing, deforestation, soil degradation etc. And those are things that we can actually do something about. Global warming is just a political tool, a distraction.
You have no way to refute what I say so you resort to name calling. Classic uneducated Al Gorean simpleton response, couldn't have expected anything else.
Did you know your God Al Gore has made over $5 billion, with his co-founder Goldman Sachs banker buddie David Blood, from scamming global warming suckers like you?
Also, what Alex Jones talks about has nothing to do with right wing or left wing politics.
Go fight your windmills, Don Quixote. Continue the ignorance. Peace.
how long would it take to make these houses reality though? the mass construction of these can't be inexpensive...you'd think only the wealthy are gonna survive. . if i'm meant to die from the effects of global warming, then i'm prepared for it. i seriously can't imagine living in a farm bubble for the rest of my life...
ha ha ha, this isnt some bomb shelter. Its simply an alternative. An option. It is not the end all, be all. And according to Earthship Biotecture a comparable sized and quality structure will cost, on average, ten to twenty percent more than traditional stick built houses. Of coarse, you wont pay a dime for water, heating, cooling, and a portion of your diet (possibly all of your diet if you style your yard after the Derveas').
awesome, but freaking ridiculous at the same time.the woman says something like,"this will help curb global warming, or AT LEAST make human life sustainable for a little longer" creepy to think about our own mortality like that.these houses are meant to be totally self-reliant so that in case people start dying off due to global warming, then at least some of us will survive it. but what's the point of living if you're stuck in your house for hundreds of years until the earth repairs itself? lol
Looks like something we so called rich fat lazy americans should build for the homeless ! Ugly but works I guess . . . And global warning is just political propaganda :-)
I wonder if that big house sitting in the sub-urbs with no self-reliability, and cut off from major food/energy sources at the flick of a switch from some often unknown corporation. I wonder if that will survive through these upcoming years of change.
NOPE...so many fat ass greedy white trash in the U.S. are all calling their fucking brokers and just salivating and panting and crying to see if they are going to lose their stocks and portfolios this week as the RIGGED financial crash continues. the nasty smelly fucking white trash in the U.S. would fuck eat sleep their money if the could....ALL THE DAY LONG...fuck the U.S.! the great whore!
I would have to agree, it disgusts me how people can have so much power to change things, yet they let it grow fat - like a force fed pig to the greedy farmer.
i have seen in a couple of these homes advertised in an architectual magz...very interesting. but, like everything else in this greedy country, gotta have alot of money to "go green"
Labor is not free. If you want a house like this...build it. The only way I'd do this at all is to design/build it myself, as this is artistic expression as well as shelter. If you're lazy and uncreative, then you'll have to pay up. dboy
I doubt it would survive a meteor strike. Perhaps we need to build earth ships that can carry us out into space a safe distance from asteroidal impacts.
Very good idea, but why would the government allow that?
You are completely independant of the government, and thus they can't force your opinion, and this is not what they, or the corporations that own them, want...
Capitalism is the thing that has enabled these people to build these houses. Capitalism itself isn't bad, mindless consumerism and corporatism is bad, too much government intervention in the free market is bad. People need to make these distinctions before making judgments.
i would help u build it for free as a statement and moral duty if i lived over their and had no commitments here! So why hasnt the illegal Governments of the world took this idea up? Cos it dosnt make revenue for them i bet! Imagine if every house was like this, it would be amazing. Thats what i'd have if i was rich!
their building modules are available for sale in various floor designs. Google Mr Reynolds full name and his web page comes up. I am curious if one can build it in city limits? or must i move to the boonies?
the problem is that if we all lived in these houses, how would the government grab enough of our money in taxes? in the old days, there was a window tax, maybe they will invent a bottle tax or a tyre tax?
This has been flagged as spam show

And then is heard no more. It is a tale
Told by an idiot, full of sound and fury,
Signifying nothing.
godbluffvdgg 9 months ago
@godbluffvdgg Technically the last ice age ended twelve thousand years ago. I don't believe you understand exactly how fragile the planet is. The fact that we are small does not mean we can't cause harm. Bacteria can kill a human.
SAOS451316 9 months ago
@SAOS451316 You seem to think the human is stupid. That may be true for some, but is actually the opposite in reality. We are collectively brilliant beyond measure, you and I are exchanging ideas in real time over boxes filled with circuits. We carry out this task with straight and curved lines universally accepted as information. My point; Do you really think, as smart as the collective is, IT, would allow harm to itself. This is all bigger than you or I. Read some Shakespeare to get the gist
godbluffvdgg 9 months ago
@godbluffvdgg How is this relevant to the debate? Humans are intelligent, certainly, in some aspects, and moronic in others. Yes, computers are marvellous inventions. The 'it' to which you are referring does not control itself. Because we live in a top-down society, 'it' is controlled by the few hundred who claim power over everyone else. Those in power do not care for 'it', but rather only for their own wallets. I happen to love Shakespeare. To which play are you referring?
SAOS451316 9 months ago
@SAOS451316 The relevance comes from the point that our subconscious actions are far more prevalent than our conscience ones. In our subconscious we are instinctively doing the right thing. I have seen the turn around in person in my 50 years of life. As you stated above "they" claim power. Well, I claim power over them. Re; Billy S, Hamlet has the most profound lessons, Henry V, Richard III, Macbeths... tomorrow and tomorrow....I will put some favorites in another post.
godbluffvdgg 9 months ago
@godbluffvdgg So are you saying that I subconsciously think that humans are stupid? In my many long years I have seen that humans are stultified in larger groups when they have a lack of good communication, which is the case in the current system, unfortunately. Good for you! Alas, most people just assume that the rich and powerful dominate, and that that is the natural order, i.e. what is right. All those are great reading, though I prefer the Comedies.
SAOS451316 9 months ago
@SAOS451316 No, it is impossible to think humans are stupid at the subconscious level. That would be a wrong; The subconscious cannot be wrong. This is why 95% of action is caused at the subconscious. It is the 5% cognizant action that gets us in trouble most often. Re; communication; I know the opposite is true. We are actually communicating at a level greater than has ever existed in the history of man. I would also argue the "most people assume"... Witness this awakening, as it is happening.

@ziggyhuys
SinnNorth 1 year ago
And instead of promoting this on a wide scale and make it accessible to a large crowd you charge $5000 just for the plans of a 800sq/f studio? And it doesn't even comply with local building codes. ?
pauluminous 1 year ago
@pauluminous Yeah, it's not like he needs money for, say, travel, or materials. An Earthship is not a conventional home, so of course it's not going to comply with building codes. Get over yourself.

That's like saying it's ok to pay $10 for a bread 'cause the baker needs a holiday.

Great if youre a Rothschild or some other aristocrat with land, money and transport who can bribe the local council to let u build it. Not so great if you are the rest of the population who haven't got a penny to your name and have to live in rented accommodation. Technical solutions are not the issue; governments have to go before the people will be able to enjoy sustainable living.

what is the advantage of a black water system with a septic tank over a composting toilet? I had a composting toilet at my previous home and built another from Adobe.... It needs no water and turns your waste into compost which in turn will nurish your soil..... The one i had didn´t smell at all and i live in a very hot country.... Black water systems seem very clever but if u have a septic tank full of waste you then have the task of emptying... Why waste recycled grey water on flushing?

Im not sure why people get so het up against green tech. Surley if its cleaner then its better. Why are so many happy to breath in pollution, poison rivers, and thoughtlessly kill wildlife...not to mention starve developing nations. why be dependant on only 1 source of energy technology ie fossilised carbon. If the greenhouse effect is not happening then at least we get cleaner tech, being developed. If it is happening and we do nothing then we are buggered! oh yea we cant tax the sun and wind.
FlatfootJohnny 2 years ago 46

Whaaat2008 1 year ago
@FlatfootJohnny
Whaaat2008 1 year ago
@FlatfootJohnny A lot of people are stupid, misinformed, brainwashed, conformant and conservative, in sense that they're sometimes literally afraid of changes and never take the time to think through the situation. On top of that, technology like Earthship endangers the status quo of business world. Neither government nor business men don't want us to be free. They need us to proft, they can't just do that alone.
Anyway, this is how we should live by all means. All people of the Earth.

@FlatfootJohnny dude thats so true, it's money mongering wealth hoarders (~1% of the human population) , that have 99% of the money. they control what direction civilization moves in with their corporations, puppet democracies (hidden fascism), and religion. that's what power is all about, control. it's the wrong kind of power, but power nonetheless.
asaradec 1 year ago
@FlatfootJohnny it's amazing how the 1% of the population that's trying to live without making an impact are chastised by the other 99% as "hippies" and "tree huggers" or even "liberals". Even though the 1% is making the world a better place for the other 99%. They're so brainwashed by the people who are making money by being part of the problem. We will be the creators of our own hell on Earth.

(Yes, I know they have hard roofs so they can collect water, but it's a hard look and requires lots of insulation.

dancidelics 2 years ago
Global warming was a bad choice of terms to use. Which is why the govt and corps pounced on it. Its climate change, and yes its real. Our planet has been in a state of constant change from the moment it was formed. We as a species are adding to and accelerating that change. |What will be the outcome? I don't know but im not arrigant enough to think nothing will happen.
Rathe989 2 years ago 2
If you ask me, it's even more arrogant to believe that you, a tiny human, a flee on the Earth's back, have the ability to influence ancient, almost immesurably powerful forces of nature such as climate, that have been around for billions of years. I don't deny that we are polluting nature, and that we could drasticly reduce that pollution without sacrificing too much, but I still don't think there is enough scientific evidence of man-made climate change for it to be considered a valid theory.

Why not publish the results of any experiments you've done on the subject or any work you've done in this field so that the scientific community can review them? If you have good evidence to counter the majority scientific opinion then I'm sure they'd be interested. If, on the other hand, yours are just the typical uneducated ramblings of the average ignorant cunt, then perhaps they won't have much time for you.
grundgemonster 2 years ago
Global warmers (or climate changers, as they are now called when the Earth is cooling) should present adequate evidence first, since it's they who started this whole hysteria.
PS! Why are you being so defensive? It's a scientific theory, not a religious belief, it's meant to be challenged.
johan404 2 years ago
Why does it matter if Global Warming or Cooling is an issue? All that shit fills up landfills anyway! And they don't pay one red cent to run the house.
Kitscoma 2 years ago 5
You're right, it doesn't, it's not even an issue. There are however legitimate environmental concerns, like pollution, overfarming, overfishing, deforestation, soil degradation etc. And those are things that we can actually do something about. Global warming is just a political tool, a distraction.

ha ha ha, this isnt some bomb shelter.
NapaSales150 3 years ago 4
awesome, but freaking ridiculous at the same time.the woman says something like,"this will help curb global warming, or AT LEAST make human life sustainable for a little longer" creepy to think about our own mortality like that.these houses are meant to be totally self-reliant so that in case people start dying off due to global warming, then at least some of us will survive it. but what's the point of living if you're stuck in your house for hundreds of years until the earth repairs itself? lol
