  • very sharp and powerfull

  • Roberto, amore mio, Manrico non è per te....

  • I don't like to hear him strain his voice in this repertoire, especially on that last terrifying high C. He has a tendency to go sharp, too, which to me indicates he is pushing too hard. His voice is so lovely in the lyric rep., like Nemorino. Sad to waste a terrific instrument on big shout-y roles.

  • @sopranosd

    Shut up idiot

He sang a powerfull and splendid high C ever !

  • @lightenor - you need to lighten up 'light' tenor, and learn some manners.

  • I can't say I'm the biggest fan of Alagna in this repertory, but this is really hot. And in the original key!

  • It`s good!

  • find your light dude. The spot is behind you. At least hit the cue right since you can't nail this song. To light a tenor.

  • Eeeeek! 2.5/4

He's bending up to a very closed and strained high C.

And his voice is not fit to my taste either.

  • ok so manrico is not his role. Terrible

  • He sings it well but his high c would be better transposed to B - as Caruso, Martinelli et al did to great effect.

  • There are better clips of him singing this aria. He is good doing it, however here he needs to take breathers big time.

Still the best natural tenor voice in the game today.

    3/4

  • LOL, why do you have a problems with the breathers? You are not a singer, I can tell...lol

  • I agree this is not his role! Why does he insist on singing the heavier roles, La Scala already told him in aida, did they not? Oh well, guess he is gonna sing whatever he wants at this point in his career! 3/3

  • because opera companies, managers and the rest of the business end of opera push singers into roles not suited.Alagna just doesn't have the heft for this role or Aida, or god knows how many others he's been pushed into.Pitty really. He makes a brilliant Romeo though lol

  • I think in this point of his career, he can do pretty much whatever he wants. This is by choice.

  • I agree. Here's a thought.......lets hear you sing it Ben. I'll be the first to buy seats....one condition though, please make it in Toronto, you don't sing enough in Canada.

  • Roberto's small voice seemed to get lost on this big stage. Good looks though. Nevertheless he must realy work to get to his topnote's. 4/4

  • 3/3 another big ego that doesn't let the singer stay away from this role. The first verse was good though.

  • 0/3

  • combination of a bleat, a bellow and pure forcing. no way.

  • I like him in other parts of the opera. Here he really sounds too strained. 2/3

  • Bravissimo!

    5/5

    It's top C!!!

  • It's more than just the quality of his voice. He has a lot of trouble negotiating those little mordents. It never occurred to me that they could be so difficult. 2/3

  • not his best repetroire but surprisingly good 4/4

  • 4.5/4.5 it's high C

  • I agree with BeauTenor on this one. 3/3

  • Nope, no, and no way. He sounds VERY stretched. If his voice had more natural squillo he could MAYBE pull it off (like Carreras), but it's just a size too big for him. He's so much better in lyric French rep. 3/3
