how do you decide which plastic to use when? i've got to the point where i keep going out buying a pack of this, or a pack of that, and catching nothing. I've got 8-10 different plastics, i don't know which to use when.
@dnullify100 I have a pretty simplistic approach to bait selection. I like to keep my arsenal filled with just a few baits that I have a lot of confidence in. I keep the colors basic too. Hope that helps.
Came across your channel. Loved it and subed. I know this pond and fished there too. But I just started bass fishing this year, so I'm still learning the lures and techniques. Too much fun. Learned a lot from your channel.
How do you know when a bass hits when you're fishing weightless and they're hitting really lightly? And whats the best way to test it so you dont spook a fish away that has the lure in its mouth?
@vweeks181 Watch the line closely. It might move to the side, or go slack, or go tight. Eventually you'll develop a "sixth sense" for when something doesn't feel right (i.e. the fish has taken the bait).
@HatCamBass appreciate the help! When the creek I fish is murky or I'm casting far ahead of me I either feel them swat it, or the line moves to the side, I just didn't know if it was that much different than bass.
@HatCamBass I fish a pond in Mass and it has a tree like the one in this vid. i fish the same tree every year and always get a 5-6lb bass i think its the same bass. wacky rigged stick baits are great. good vid
This is one of the best video introducing the weightless fishing on youtube.
Very informative and clear. Nice job!
I get couple questions here. Do you use swivel in between the test line and the leader to avoid the line twist? How do you know the fish bite when there's lots of slack?
@ruinedbackyard I don't use a leader for this application. On slack line, I'm usually watching for that line to start moving. In cold weather, when the bite is very subtle, I'll try to keep that line tight so I can feel the bite. Hope that helps. Thx for watching!
@HatCamBass Just started using baitcast so im using a $30 shakespeare agility (got for christmas). I can cast a 3/8 ounce spinnerbait 50+ feet and cast 100+ times with out any backlash. I know how to dial in each lure but i cant get it right for plastics like trick worms even with a 1/8 ounce weight
@UARAF16 well first off, don't expect to cast a worm with a 1/8 oz weight the same distance as a heavier bait. You could try using lighter line...might help with the reel you are using. Other than that, just keep playing with your drag and braking system (if it has one). Set it so the worm gently falls to the ground when you disengage the reel.
did this place keep good water through out the drought
