@rantingsofafangirl Honestly, this is something that really, really bothers me about magna in general--and yes, it is in most yaoi. I've managed to just float over the "oh, great, more rape..." scenes because this *is* fake, and have managed to enjoy the magna... But this doesn't make these types of situations okay! It creates a rape culture, or perhaps simply reflects these already existing problems. Having rape be common and glorified factor in making a relationship, even in media, is bad.

Also, that this submissive can't vocalize or even recognize their enjoyment because it's shameful, even if it's only at the beginning. What if the dominate party is misguided or doesn't grasp that the one they're making advances towards actually DOESN'T want it? This is often the cause of date rape. "(S)He wanted it" is not a valid excuse *ever*.

A huge majority of yaoi is based on saying no over and over, usually from one guy to another. It's part of what gets the women (and men) who watch it so excited. @disheartened100 A point in my previous chat was that rape being average doesn't make it okay, and it doesn't make it less damaging. Seeing this treated as acceptable causes so, so, so many problems.For example, date-rapers often don't realize they actually raped their victim because of the "they wanted it" excuse. Vocal consent needs to be given-- no excuses. And flat out rape being so dishearteningly prominent doesn't need to be accepted.

It's been the point, really. Most of the time I've spent isn't directly related to this OVA, but off the real life REACTIONS to it. The difference is hardly a fine line. Yelling, "no, don't." when you haven't set up clear boundaries and safe words--or established that all participants truly want it-- is clearly on the 'not fine' part of the line.
