I have a 6ft foldable table, and I bought a washable black fabric tablecloth from Walmart for $20. It folds out and I underside clear tape it to block the front of the table and have my wires hidden. Works really well and was cheap! You can't see ANY wires on my table except the one for my desk lamp and one for wireless mics.
I have the same table and bought mine for $15 on sale at a local store they sell them normally for $30... Great piece to have.. Also I built at DJ booth that fits right around it that has been seen in my video's and I get a lot of compliments on that as well... Glad to see you are doing well brian... Keep up the work... I will start posting more myself shortly....
So now Im torn between a 4ft or a 6ft set up. I bought the 4ft because of the adjustable legs going to 36in hieght. but after watching the the other video you shared I see an easy way to raise the table hieght on anytable. Now I cant decied weather the 4 or 6 ft table will look better then the other. any opinoins anyone?
@briansredd thanks. I believe I had talked to Steve as well a few months ago on another subject and it's sad to hear a man with so much passion in his work and our entertainment industry put his work on hold.... If you have Steve's email address, please send it to me at gonzo@instepdj.com
@instepdj it seems DJ skirts does limited production runs. Takled to Steve yesterday & thruout the year, he'll offer certian products for a limited time. I'll try to do a video on this giving more info in the next couple days
That was just cool enjoyed watching. I have two of the those tables I picked them up from a place in NZ called the Warehouse for $50. I don't use them for DJing but I liked the way you adapted it with the scrim king and table topper. i haven't seen the table topper like that over here though. I will try and post what I use
I have the exact same table. I have sent you a video showing our new facade. It's desgined to fit around the standard 6 ft table's we have here in th U.K. to.
I have had two folding tables like Brian's table for quite some time. They definitely have held up to the abuse. Recently I purchased an adjustable height table. I guess my question is, how do you get around feeling constantly stooped over your table? I ask because upon purchasing my new table, I realized how large and hard to transport it was :D
@VincentMendou No stooping here. my mixer rack puts my controls about maybe 8" higher than the table top & my PC at the perfect level. This table weighs next to nothing & has a carrying handle
Seems kinda odd from a UK point of view to see or hear of so many US DJs using tables...
Mobile DJs in the UK mainly use purpose designed deck stands (Google 'Giraffe deck stand' or 'Ultimax deck stand') or booths (Google 'S&H booth' or 'deck stand booth pro').
Over here, tables tend to have a rep of being used by the bottom feeders who can't be bothered to buy a proper stand. :-)
@groovindj Most UK DJs can't afford to buy gum let alone a "propper deck stand" :P Seriously, do you feel this set up looks bad? It's my observation that many UK mobile DJs fall into two different clubs: Thoes who try to do radio style performances with frequent volume drops during intros to introduce a song AND thoes who want to do more turntable/CDJ performance style shows...
@briansredd cont... Most USA Mobile DJs have a different objective. What many of us are trying to do is be less conspicuous in a room decor wise (weddings in the USA spend loads on decorations so the less we look like a stack of kit in the corner the better). We want to provide great music but leave the center of attention both performance & Esthetic wise on the client (bride/groom/etc)
@briansredd yes, "less conspicuous" is good - and that's what UK wedding DJs are doing too (the pro ones anyway). For example using Bose L1 speakers, using a lectern style stand, using a single light and so on.
@briansredd no I don't think it looks too bad once the white cover is over it, but it just surprises me that DJs there would use (what we in the UK call) a decorating table to set up on.
Thankfully the guys who think they're on the radio are not so common these days!
@DjCoolboy1996 There are pipe & drape toppers, but i find them time consuming to set up. Thoes Facades that look like something a woman has in her dressing room to dress behind are way too big, awquard to transport and in my oppinion not very attractive. Wish someone would make a sharp quick hard shell topper again.
Hey Brian, I made a special table for my DJing needs. The table folds up and has wheels for maneuvering. I also have all my lighting pre mounted. It might look a little "nutty" but beleive it or not I have had nothing but compliments on it. And it even tackles stairs well. Check out my channel for my video on dj rig set up. Keep up the good work brian!!!
@briansredd Ya I saw that vid last week as well and since I dont roll out like that, your video just made me realize how lazy my ass is lol...thanks for the vid man. I'm going to have to get my act together. DJ Malarky out.
I love that table topper but I use a coffin nd it has a slide out laptop stand so I wouldn't be able to fit the coffin and slide out the laptop stand with the topper atleast I think it wont fit. but this is a great idea. n nice set up.
I have a DJ Skirts table topper that I will sell. It is in great shape (the carrying bag too) I no longer need it because I purchased a Dragon Front Board.
Nice, i bought i fold up table from a furniture shop in 1993 for my set up and i am still using it. it did cost £200 and was made in England. but i think it was worth the extra money as it will probable last me forever,
Nice Vid. Over here, in the Netherlands most Mobile DJ's don't use tables with tablecloths and table toppers. Almost every professional mobile DJ has his own personalized DJ Booth. To me it looks more professional than just a table with your gear on top of it. But that's my opinion. Keep on making these nice video's! Greetz!.
great video!!! i also have the dj skirts table topper but it is the both black and white version..i prefer to use it instead of the facades everyone are using....
I cant believe your doing this vid...just got a new table to take out ... exactly the same as yours just got it from Costco (ehh is that how you spell it) about £30 6ft by 2ft i think perfect for the scrim king set up....hadnt thought about drilling some holes in it though?
Brian you are amazing I would have a hard enough time setting up that table and topper with two hands and you did just fine with one, great job and keep the informative videos coming they help me out a lot!
Nice job, B. I watched Pulse's vid last night when I saw it posted, and immediately thought of the table topper. I Googled DJ Skirts, hoping to see that maybe they were back under a different name, or that some other company was offering a compatible product to the topper, but no such luck. I did see one on Ebay for $140, but in the description, it said that there may be "signs of cosmetic wear", and I couldn't really tell from the picture and I didn't want to take a chance on it being crap.
Hi Brian, Great Video! FYI, DJ Skirts is NOT out of business. I have talked to them many times this year. They are only making items on a very limited basis. They make items available for a short time, and then it's not available for another year. I like their stuff too, but I think with all the other manufacturers coming out with scrim-type products, it's making it harder to remain profitable. Also, most guys have the DIY skills to make their own and just copy the ideas from DJSkirts.
@MrBklein31 If Steve is back, his website needs updating. Only saw clearence items that were not popular items or brilliant sellers. No toppers at all
Watched both vids... great stuff to help guys get set up professionally. Brian, I just gotta say "hats off to you" for keeping doing what you do. Great job as always....
Nice to see you still doing what you like. you will get back to 100% !
I got a table from Marathon it a two piece and it close up like a flight case best $125 I spend. and it has wheels. it stronger than any plastic table. you should check it out
cheap, efficient and professional looking setup, nice. I would properly go further by drilling 3, 4inch diameter holes for wiring and cable pass threw in the table top, similar to those found on office cubical s. And cut out slots or holes in the scrims to allow pass threw. But make sure the cutouts in the scrim are hem to prevent fraying. Of course you will need to line up the holes in the scrim to the holes in your table to access the hole in the table.
thanks for that Brian, i was looking for more videos about tables and how to keep them clean, if you have any more ideas or ways you already keep it clean please upload some more videos if its not to much trouble.
i have one of these and i LOVE IT
