First time I heard this was on a 50,000 watt "blowtorch" AM station about 40 years ago. Jackson Armstrong used it on WKBW as his signoff song, every weeknight, just before NewsRap, with Brad Casey. I was hundreds of miles away and this was a glorious song for one of America's best Top 40 jocks of all time. I always thought most of the eastern seaboard of the United States was listening along with me.
Yeah, this is Billy Lee Riley on Harmonica isn't it... I've got the 45 somewhere. I bought it in about '73 from a record store in Chicago's Maxwell Street district.
This sounds like something you'd hear on the soundtrack of a low-budget '60s movie as the background music in a sleazy bar, playing from a jukebox, while some kind of drama went on that involved a sexy dame go-go dancing but acting standoffish to the hero.
Shit the bed!?....how good is this?
