@avalanchealonso Yes, Vince Ely left shortly after the album was complete and some videos were done--he didn't tour with them for this album. At the end of this video, you see in the band line-up that Phill Calvert is the drummer here, but he didn't stay long. The Furs were entering that period where it was just Richard Butler, Tim Butler, and John Ashton as permanent members. It was nice to have Vince Ely back for the All that Money Wants single and Book of Days album.
Richard Butler is frickn' cool and he makes other bands look..well, 'yawn'... well, to me that's my opinion :-}..lol.. Psychedelic Furs fan 4ever!!! <3
Nice to hear this again - not sure if it was same line up but they did a version of this on Whistle Test in autumn of 82 and was far better than the version on the record. I used to have one of those trenchcoats!
I saw this band a few times in clubs around L.A. back in the day. The thing that this band reminds me is how it was ok to just write songs that are kindof not "epic" but have some style and depth. Of course, I like Butler's sarcasm too. Times have changed and the "blue eyed army" is once again on its reign. Corporatism sucks.
Ann Sheldon is her - if you watch right up until the end you'll see her name credited. I believe she died in a car accident. Gary Windo - sax - also is no longer with us. Nor Barney Bubbles who design the LP cover to Forever Now. very sad.
Ann Sheldon was my best friend and favorite cellist during the 80s.We played a lot of music together, hung out, designed shit, wrote music, drank a lot and performed together. She was fucking amazing!
It's true about the car accident. Ann Sheldon died in the early evening on New Year's eve 1984 within 10 minutes of leaving my house to play what she thought might be her final gig with the Furs. A tree and an icy Catskill Mountain road did her in.
Ann was coming to play in Albany with my Dads band on that nite............I was the person who told everyone in his band that she was dead.....miss her...much
Ann was a best friend, orchestra-mate, co-worker and roommate in the mid to late 70's. We stayed in touch after that but never got to see her with the Furs. This video made me miss her a lot.
I love this song, this version is really... interesting... reminds me of castle music from the holy graile or something lol. I love it though. Ive been looking for this vid since i last saw it on YT a year ago.
Had Vince Ely left the band at this point? He was a big part of the Forever Now album, including the recording and videos.

The bittersweet irony of this video. To be able to relive this, see Ann Sheldon and Gary Window again; while they play a song about Death. Sigh...

not sure what I love best....the Furs or the internet for allowing me to relive this.

Easily one of the best bands to come out in the Early 80's alternative scene !!
Hands down..

Losing Ann was a tragic loss.

Really great to find this clip, Gary Windo was a friend of mine and a wonderful man, sadly he died in 1992, RIP Gary.
