  • This type of takeaway is either a shank or a slice. The clubface should be slightly closed and the arms should be MUCH more extended.

  • Another dodo giving us incomplete information. Just because one gets into the correct 'takeaway' position, does not mean the backswing will produce good results.

This 'takeaway' position is a very small part of the whole picture.

  • i agree with video! crucial!!! to have that club face open from take away all the way to back swing. i had to figure this out myself not too long ago , dropped 6 strokes.

  • toe pointing straight up is clubface open. The clubface should actually match your spine angle and look at the ball more. Clubface should be sqaure to the ARC not open to the ARC

  • @JRJ8135 You are totally right!

  • @JRJ8135 I don't know about that - when I do it the face seems really shut?

  • @JRJ8135 No. The club face should not match your spine angle at that point. It should be almost pointing up, but not quite. If what you continue to match your spine angle of say 40-45%, then by the time it gets to the top, it's very very shut.

  • i will be taking this tip to the driving range tomorrow fakhkh yeah!

  • great tip...I have been working on it...
