If it's the former, then it appears that the praise would be that of God toward the sinner for his brilliant assessment of his personal sin; if the latter then it would be the praise of the sinner toward God for His graciousness in the gifts of repentance and faith to the sinner. I read the Bible every day and I've never seen anything of the sort. It sounds like something someone made up. The Gospel is certainly easy to understand, intellectually, but it is not something that a sinner CAN or WOULD do. Jesus said "No man CAN come to me UNLESS the Father DRAWS him, and I will raise him up on the Last Day." So it's clearly not mere intellectual assent, if that's what you're suggesting.

You cannot submit to Christ's kingdom (the visible church) if you don't belong to one. There is nowhere in Scripture found any sort of "Lone Ranger" Christianity. Christ is King, and he rules his kingdom.
