@Frickis nobody gives a shit if you've huge ass backpacks. My friend's one got kicked out of the tube intentionally once though and he never got it back. Just be careful is all..

@madmouse71 I'm just saying this as an obseveration, not being critical. But whenever there's a video of something good in a city outside of the USA, you'll always find an American trying to discredit it by saying "it's not as good as the American one", no matter what it is.
It's like the USA has this incredible inferiority complex and somehow has to make up for it.
I promise I'm not meaning that critically but it is ALWAYS an American doing it.
what an odd video. Its nice at first but believe me after using the tube lots you become very sick of it. In rush hours, you are literally packed shoulder to shoulder on those things. Still love London though but dont think I could live there.
@Glyphwright umm... say you were getting on the tube at kings cross it would say "this is a piccadilly line, calling at russell square" depending on which line you get on at :) and when you get to a destination it will state the station like "this is holborn, change here for the central line" :)
London is a enormous powerful metropolis. Its like its own world, the only city i have been to that has the same kind of atmosphere is New York City. They have a very similar vibe that immerses you and sucks you in. New York's is more in your face, London's is slightly more subtle. But yeah London feels like its own world. Im sorry lovely as it is, Paris cannot hold a candle to London. It is SO not in the same league. it just does not have the same worldy depth and atmopshere London has.
@NeoFalcon69 - I remember my first full day in London on my very first visit and how my wife and I found it amazing that we could just go down in a hole and then 20 minutes later you come up another hole and find yourself in an area that looks totally different. It felt more like teleporting ... but slower. I just got back from Amsterdam and while I was there I used the trams and trains as means of joyriding all over the city and the country.
I envy European and alot of Asian cities and their excellent public transportation systems - if I COME ACROSS another childish remark on how "crap" they are - I will slap them on the head and tell them to endure a day with me with our inefficient, outdated and insufficient public transport system here outside Euroland.
@TravelingManEuro only replying on here so i can get a reply from you. your ticket was green right? how and what on earth is a green ticket. in all my life here (17 years) i've never seen one. (not that i'll use it anyways as i've got an oyster)
@SLwootwootUK - The ticket was issued at a booth for short stays. I may have gotten mine from a machine designed for tourists. When I was in Amsterdam recently, I stayed there for three weeks and got myself a OV Chipkaart. This works similar to the oyster card, but this one is anonymous and can be reloaded with credit as needed.
I made my first trip to London this week and all street musicians like the synth guy in this video, were absolutely kick ass. For example I saw a guitarist performing Ring of Fire, an awesome beatboxer etc etc. Thank you, buskers of London.

lol trigger happy police, true one guy that got shot and killed, he had a chair leg in a plastic bag, the police thought it was a shot gun and shot him dead, no shit, or they might taser you in the back of the head while holding you down,as for pickpockets if you have a ruck sack, put a padlock onto the zip mostly eastern european women while you wait at the traffic lights, oh and we have round abouts lol..... enjoy your in the U>K
I went to London in the spring and absolutely fell in love with the city and with the Tube! I can't wait to go back again some day and ride it all around again
and i rode it 30 years ago, so most of you are rookies, looks like theres more lights now. im in texas havent rode it in 30 years but still reminds me of american werewolf, lol and i used to ride it at night after pub crawlin
I love riding the Tube whenever I'm in London. I got on the Tube at Piccadilly Circus, Man was it crowded it was 2 days before Christmas. Subway Cars in London seem smaller to me than the ones in cities like New York City & Chicago. Also they are very, very deep in the ground. You take three escalators just to get to the platform.
@BruhTV Depends which line you take. If it's the Bakerloo, yea, it's really freaking' deep. If it's the Circle, you can see daylight for a good few sections.
The cheapest are buses and trams, but they are slow. Otherwhise the Underground using an Oyster card (NOT paper tickets). The subway in London is so clean! No graffiti, no junkies or anything like that! I live in Stockholm and our Subway is not like that one in London. We have station like "T-Central" and "Slussen" thats full of drug-addicts and a lot af graffiti... Not that clean as in London, and Stockholm only have 2 miljon people in the City, London have a population moore than Sweden have..
Strange.. But i love London, almost every swede have som kind of love for the capital of England.
mmmmmmmmmmmm. I like waking up at 5 in the morning, going down the escalator at kennington, looking at all the rats running around on the tracks, breathing in asbestos fibres and other people's hair and getting on the first charing cross branch. How could life be any better?
i rode the tube before but i didnt like how crampy & closed in it is. its like a sardine can. i like our Chicago el trains better at least we got more room to move.
This is so cool. I live in the usa and where i live there is no public transportation. I'm 45 and i've never been on any form of public transportation. This would be really cool. If u want to get anywhere, you have to have a car
london underground is cool but hot and sweaty, smelly people, drys out your eyes but is quite easy to get where you need to go fast im glad i live in the north west better air not horrible car fume air like london i also find it funny how whenever im on xbox live some southener goes you northern monkey u thick fuck when half the people in london i saw were fuckin stupid and cant pronounce words properly i saw one like 15 year old who couldnt pronounce london is only great for historical stuff.
I loved some noise of the tube door when it closed lol. People walk fast but you have to go slowly when you go though the barries.Wowm, this video reminds me of my memory in London tube! Thanks for sharing!!
The musicians are known as "buskers." I think this busker is one of the most interesting parts of the video, and I wish I had more of him on tape. Getting a close-up would have been nice too.
Very surprised you got away with this! Security usually jump on this, by the time you would have got to the ticket barrier. You can get very accurate details of the layout of a staion via this. Did you get any funny looks that we CAN NOT see on the film?
I am kind of surprised too. I made no effort to conceal my actions. I just wanted to have a good video to always remind me of my favorite activity in London.
@TkMToM1993 type into google "most visited countries in the world" go onto the wikipedia page "world tourism rankings" and scull down a bit... there you go...
@EJES2000 *scroll* i meant, it states that every year 76.80 million people visit france... it is the most visited country in the world, and lets face it, if you were to go to france you would visit paris wouldn't you???
@EJES2000 "learn my shit" right okay then... well i would post the other websites i found stating the same information about france having the most tourism but to be quite frank i really cannot be bothered to argue with you, you obviously cannot admit to being wrong... and youtube will not let me post links on here... just go through the websites and you'll see that every single one of them states that france has the highest tourism rates.
now it is not allowed to make photo´s in the tube. If i was in March in London at Kings Cross Station a security of the undeground said to me "Do not photograph" I answered Sorry , typical four an Austrian tourist
I think it's because the flashes blinds the driver. They shoud have made an rule saying that it's not allowed to use flash on the tube or something like that.
There is only one rule on taking photos on the underground, no flash. You can still take photos, the flash is just likely to set the fire detectors off.
haha i love this video. when i visited london i thought the tube was the coolest thing ever, and all the londoners take it all the time and think nothing of it. thanks!
I've been in different countries, I've seen different underground but I should confess that Moscow metro is the best. And I say it not because I'm from Russia.
@Frickis nobody gives a shit if you've huge ass backpacks. My friend's one got kicked out of the tube intentionally once though and he never got it back. Just be careful is all..

Not having a go at London, but I am disappointed to look at the narrow platform and those small train carriages.
How do people fit in there? don't even want to imagine breathing in there :)
Of course it is way better than the Sydney's Cityrail *correction - Shittyrail*
but compared to what I've seen in Seoul, Tokyo and Shanghai metros...
It looks uncomfortable and dull.
Sorry Londoners, I expected more from the world oldest subway system.
renovation before the Olympics maybe? :)

Thanks for the memories. The Piccadilly line was one of my favourites. Love the architecture.

yo penny lane if u live in a bigger city there must be a form of public transportation
jtckrew 2 years ago
wow how far under ground is it? looks far
pennylane36 2 years ago
it's really far. At one point we had to travel down three larger than average escalators lol, deep in the ground. maybe over 100 feet?

i rode the tube before but i didnt like how crampy & closed in it is. its like a sardine can. i like our Chicago el trains better at least we got more room to move.

the deepest the tube goes is 221ft (67.5m)
deepest station is 192ft (58.5m)

That was great! I have fond memories of the Tube when I was in London last year. Thanks for the enjoyable video.

I loved some noise of the tube door when it closed lol. People walk fast but you have to go slowly when you go though the barries.Wowm, this video reminds me of my memory in London tube! Thanks for sharing!!

This music guys are awesome. Sooo cool they just stand/sit in the tube and make everything music.
Thats cool and make me happy. :D

The musicians are known as "buskers." I think this busker is one of the most interesting parts of the video, and I wish I had more of him on tape. Getting a close-up would have been nice too.

Love the Underground too. I live near Bournemouth and don't visit London that often. Should be going next week though, 2nd visit in 3 months!

Very surprised you got away with this! Security usually jump on this, by the time you would have got to the ticket barrier. You can get very accurate details of the layout of a staion via this. Did you get any funny looks that we CAN NOT see on the film?
ednuttah 2 years ago
I am kind of surprised too. I made no effort to conceal my actions. I just wanted to have a good video to always remind me of my favorite activity in London.

Pleeeeaaase, not the Paris vs London thread again. Both are the pinnacle of European cities, nothing else to compare.

@subtheo Paris is not even worldwide famous??
TkMToM1993 9 months ago
@TkMToM1993 its only the most visited city in the world.
EJES2000 6 months ago
@EJES2000 I find that hard to believe.
TkMToM1993 6 months ago
@TkMToM1993 type into google "most visited countries in the world" go onto the wikipedia page "world tourism rankings" and scull down a bit... there you go...
EJES2000 6 months ago
@EJES2000 *scroll* i meant, it states that every year 76.80 million people visit france... it is the most visited country in the world, and lets face it, if you were to go to france you would visit paris wouldn't you???
EJES2000 6 months ago
@EJES2000 "learn my shit" right okay then... well i would post the other websites i found stating the same information about france having the most tourism but to be quite frank i really cannot be bothered to argue with you, you obviously cannot admit to being wrong... and youtube will not let me post links on here... just go through the websites and you'll see that every single one of them states that france has the highest tourism rates.

now it is not allowed to make photo´s in the tube. If i was in March in London at Kings Cross Station a security of the undeground said to me "Do not photograph" I answered Sorry , typical four an Austrian tourist
Suttner29 2 years ago 2
why do you think that is ? not beeing able to take photos?
elia19 2 years ago
because there could be the danger of a terrorist attack but i can understand this!!!!
the tube is very beautiful!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Suttner29 2 years ago
Even new york allows photos.
MistrEgg 2 years ago
I think it's because the flashes blinds the driver. They shoud have made an rule saying that it's not allowed to use flash on the tube or something like that.
Davekun1991 2 years ago
Well it's hard for them to catch someone using a flash on a camera, so they might as well ban it altogether.
casua1ty27 2 years ago
There is only one rule on taking photos on the underground, no flash. You can still take photos, the flash is just likely to set the fire detectors off.

How deep is Piccadilly Circus? You had to go down like 2 long escalators and a 2 flights of stairs. Pretty deep down.
adman4t 2 years ago
a few stations are so deep there are no escalators, only huge lifts (elevators)
danny999911 2 years ago
haha i love this video. when i visited london i thought the tube was the coolest thing ever, and all the londoners take it all the time and think nothing of it. thanks!

I've been in different countries, I've seen different underground but I should confess that Moscow metro is the best. And I say it not because I'm from Russia.
