So many American have a knee jerk reaction when it comes to foreign aid, to shut it off, when shutting it off will in some cases be against our own interests. The speaker in the video states that most people in Egypt hate us. The reason we give Egypt aid is not to buy their love, it is because it is part of the deal we struck with them years ago regarding how they treat Israel. A lot of the money we spend on foreign aid is a great investment. Although I do agree that it needs separate votes.
With whom would this suggestion not make sense. Maybe our officials should start paying attention to this dilemma with more effort applied without party finger pointing for blame. I do hear that (at least) some lobbying causes our government's willingness to award other countries bribe monies to other countries in order to help our corporations to succeed financially (even they probably outsource).

The dictator in that country wants a 100 million dollar bribe for drilling rights. So, to save money, Exxon bribes 10 million dollars worth of congressmen - and the congressmen sends 100 million in "foreign aid" to the dictator. Exxon gets to drill and sell the oil to China or Japan. Now that you know how it works -- don't you feel better ???

The only reason that I think that we should keep sending money to Israel is because they vote with the U.S. 90% of the time in U.N. sessions. Whether anyone wants to believe it or not, they are the United State's most loyal ally. The rest of the countries we send aid to vote against us 90% of the time, albeit Russia votes with us 25% of the time. If a country wants to receive foreign aid it should not be free, it should be like a loan, that they need to pay back within an allotted time frame, that can be collected whether they like it or not, if they can't pay then they better have some collateral ready whether it is money or resources. If they don't than we can oust them and they will be ineligible to receive foreign aid ever again. their embassy will also be removed and their alliance invalidated.

So, we’re paying taxes to other countries too, huh? Doesn’t sound like we owe anything to any country. The debt to China probably wouldn’t even exist had money been properly allocated. Perhaps we ought to declare all previous and forthcoming “aid” to China as debt payment. It’s money all the same, the name is just different. It doesn’t take a mathematician to understand that the debt to China should systematically decrease with each deposit.

I am interested in Senator Poe's statement concerning "this is the way the RULE works". DOES ANYONE KNOW WHAT "RULE" HE IS REFERRING TO? So many American have a knee jerk reaction when it comes to foreign aid, to shut it off, when shutting it off will in some cases be against our own interests. The speaker in the video states that most people in Egypt hate us. The reason we give Egypt aid is not to buy their love, it is because it is part of the deal we struck with them years ago regarding how they treat Israel. A lot of the money we spend on foreign aid is a great investment. Although I do agree that it needs separate votes.

With whom would this suggestion not make sense. Maybe our officials should start paying attention to this dilemma with more effort applied without party finger pointing for blame. The first two comments seemed to be on the mark, especially the second one (in my mind). I do hear that (at least) some lobbying causes our government's willingness to award other countries bribe monies to other countries in order to help our corporations to succeed financially (even they probably outsource).

Why don't you try going and living in some of these countries before you pass judgement on the US. Most of these countries are poor because of their own politicians robbing them blind. The majority of our foreign aid goes straight into foreign politician's bank accounts. The only aid that is effective is grassroots, on the ground, small focused efforts. Any money the US sends overseas to help those in need never gets past the crooks

@TheGloryfighter1000 Partly agree on latin A. I lived in Honduras for 2 years and traveled most of Latin A. Currently I live in Africa and the story here is much diff. However, what you are speaking of are direct initiatives operated by our intel agencies. What the congressman was talking about was aid given to these countries blindly. The majority of aid is lumped into one pool that congress votes on. They have no idea where it is truly going. The misuse of aid in Africa is appalling.

America has a duty to help foreign countries with literally no means of help. We have the the ability to do this because even if it's "not our problem", we are still held responsible because we have the ability to help. But im only talking about poor 3rd world countries owned by cruel dictators... idk why in hells fuck were dumping money to all these other countries who are fine without us... makes no sense

Here's how it works - A large global corporation - for example - Exxon - wants to drill in a foreign country but they have a problem. The dictator in that country wants a 100 million dollar bribe for drilling rights. So, to save money, Exxon bribes 10 million dollars worth of congressmen - and the congressmen sends 100 million in "foreign aid" to the dictator. Exxon gets to drill and sell the oil to China or Japan. Now that you know how it works -- don't you feel better ???
