I believe this song was a gift from his mom after she passed away. She inspired him -- maybe in his dreams. Mom, you have a beautiful son. And you must have been a beautiful mom.

Out of all their songs, I think this will always be their most beloved by fans. There is just something about it,isn't there? Pat puts his entire heart and soul into everything he does, but especially each time he does this song. The Grammy performance of this gives me chills, just love it. His Grammy acceptance speech where he thanked his mom brings tears to my eyes. She must have been a special lady indeed, and she would be so proud of her wonderful son.

I love the acoustic versions of this, and I also saw an acoustic one of Calling All Angels(my fave of theirs), which is fantastic.

I have seen clips of Pat singing without a mic here on Youtube, to the song When I look To The Sky. He is simply amazing.

The man's powerful and beautiful voice needs nothing to go along with it, really. All he needs is that. What a gift.

@TheWiscmom, yes he did. His mom died of cancer and he was under pressure from his record company to come up with a so called "hit" and he went back to his homestate of Penn. and in one night he came up with this song from a dream he had. It is about his Mom.
