Buddhist - Christianty is a beautiful religion with much to offer. Many teachings are similar to Buddhist teachings. Sometimes different belief but thats okay because we should be equally different and unique. One not better than other.

I'm growing tired of entering Buddhahood pages and seeing many many Christians revolting and trying to push other beliefs around opposed to accepting and honoring. For the wise and virtuous, there's nothing to repent. Buddha is fully enlightened. One is considered a Buddha when one has eradicated greed, anger and delusion. Gods still hold on to anger, jealousy, able to destroy and kill. Gods, according to the Buddha, still have to work for enlightenment

That's the teaching of the Buddha. That's the reason why Buddha did not wantl the followers to work hard to go divine realm (heaven) as that's not the end of the story. To be enlightened, is the final goal accmplished.
I have been studying buddhism for two years in my RMPS class and although i think the basic principles such as all life involves suffering are good teachings but i cannot believe that you shouldn't become attached to family. It confuses me how it is a loving religion if you cannot love anything with a certain amount of passion without becoming attached. In conclusion the religion confuses me and i am intreged by it but some what confused by the principles they teach as they contridict themselves
@SCOlittleblackdoggy Buddhism teaches "correct" attachment and the correct type of love for family. All relationships end with either death or separation and it prepares us for this time. For example I love my wife in a healthy type of love in the sense of "now" but if she goes one day via death or divorce then it wont affect me emotionally as i will understand the Impermanent nature of all things. Look up the Metta of Loving Kindness as well.
There is a difference between love/compassion and attachment.. Attachment is when you want something (to remain as it is).. But the teachings tell us that all things are impermanent.. That all things and beings, including family, will eventually fall apart and die.. Thus attachment to impermanent things will inevitably cause suffering..
This doesn't prevent you from love and compassion for all beings.. Love is recognizing that we are all subject to suffering and thus we wish them all to be happy
"adulterers, raging homosexuals" compared to muderers... One thing is ways of life, choices, or, in homosexuality, sexual orientation, which has been and still is an extensively discussed subject. Another thing is taking someone's life... If you can't tell the difference I surely don't want to be around you!
Bad things happen to innocent people... That's what karma is about, being caught in situations you don't necessarily relate to because they come from things you did in previous lives.
@MrKry Sexual Misconduct is one of the worst Kharma's (second to Intentional Killing, murder) that a human can earn. Homosexuality "may" be acceptable (I will ask the monk next few days for opinion) if it is with loving kindness between consenting people where it doesnt harm others. Bad things happen to good people from their past soul's living body. Read Gary Zukav's books.
First I would like to say that I am a Catholic. And second, lets face the facts,if God condemns everyone to hell for not choosing the correct religious path, then i say many indeed are going to hell,and also Why was I not shown the right path by God. During his days, about 45 years, after enlightenment, all HE'd been doing was teaching basic human ethics on peaceful and tranquil ways of living to insight meditations to escape from suffering. It is not reasonable to name him a demon. You can taste a nice Indian food though you're a Chinese.
Buddha encourage his followers to rely on self discipline and practices. There are lots of teaching on the concepts of minds and matters. The Buddha's teaching on mind and matters are worth learning for everyone. The Buddhist scholars are worth given PhD's on their studies on the conceptual behavior of mind and matters(inside the body). BUDDHA taught the TRUTH, I will say UNIVERSAL TRUTH.
Buddha was a perfect teacher who humbly taught and showed how HE attained the enlightenment on understanding the life and death matters, how to escape suffering by efforts of oneself. One can not rely on others to get rid of troubles and suffering.

I hear what you're saying, but I stand by my comments. I'm not saying ALL young atheists fit this definition, but there are a lot of young people with anti-religious sentiment, and it seems to me that their attitude is motivated less by whatever flaws religion may have, and more by a desire to rebel and seem edgy and non-conformist.
And I still say that the most wise and mature path is the one of tolerance; doesn't mean you have to accept what religions teach, mind you. Just be respectful.
I also agree that tolerance is central to wisdom but tolerance should not be employed when one could actively fight/debate or try to lead people from false and militaristic beliefs.
Well, as far as false beliefs go, it's not an open-and-shut case, and trying to "educate" religious people, to lead them away from their "false" beliefs can easily become a form of evangelism.
But I actually do agree with the militaristic aspect, but it's not just a simple belief, but manifests itself as harmful behavior. I think fear is the prime cause of this militaristic mentality, and that most religions at some level teach AGAINST this kind of fear.
I apologise but as far as most of the major religions go it is a shut case. They ask for faith therefore no evidence is needed. This line of thinking is counter productive for ALL of human society.
Educating people is not the same as preaching, educating them is showing them through an unbiased perspective all the evidence and then letting them choose.
Some of the major religions are based on fear, fear of perpetual punishment. They cannot teach against their own teachings.
Many religions are based on faith, yes. But faith is only counter-productive insofar as it discourages people from asking questions, and not all religions discourage it. All of us use faith in our day-to-day life, even the most rational among us. Not all kinds of faith are religious faith, but you get my drift.
Also, I don't think that encouraging people to abandon their religions qualifies as education. It qualifies as thought-change, and, therefore, as preaching.
The goal is not so much to encourage people to abandon their religions. That is just a by-product of achieving the main goal. Revealing the truth and the evidence is the main goal.

Buddha revealed the truth about life and death by explaining causes and effects in logical way. If you explore the literature called "Abhidhamma" you will know what the Buddha emphasized about. It consists of how the mind and the six senses (eyes, ear, nose, tongue, body, and mind) reacts. To be short all its about mind and matters only. Buddha said don't believe that you're told by ME or the monk, or by your elders, or your teacher. Try and test yourself and then believe in what you find.
We are not folloing the ISM. We follow the teaching of the BUDDHA thro' HIS well trained MONKs called SANGHA. The
Buddhist who knows the BUDDHA's teaching, from the monk's teaching or books, are not blinded followers. We are not forced to believe in his teaching. We follow the Buddha teachings becaused we understand what is all about in it well and so did our ancestors. I feel pity on those poor diversed buddhists doing the spirituals thing.

I don't really agree with that. I like to be a free thinker, so as you can see from my comments to you, I want to respect all beliefs and seek a sort of harmony between them. There is no reason why certain claims and beliefs can't coincide with each other. Clearly I'm not "hot" as you say, because I won't try to badger people with my beliefs. I simply let things flow.

I have been studying buddhism for two years in my RMPS class and although i think the basic principles such as all life involves suffering are good teachings but i cannot believe that you shouldn't become attached to family. It confuses me how it is a loving religion if you cannot love anything with a certain amount of passion without becoming attached. In conclusion the religion confuses me and i am intreged by it but some what confused by the principles they teach as they contridict themselves

@SCOlittleblackdoggy Buddhism teaches "correct" attachment and the correct type of love for family. All relationships end with either death or separation and it prepares us for this time. For example I love my wife in a healthy type of love in the sense of "now" but if she goes one day via death or divorce then it wont affect me emotionally as i will understand the Impermanent nature of all things. Look up the Metta of Loving Kindness as well.

There is a difference between love/compassion and attachment.. Attachment is when you want something (to remain as it is).. But the teachings tell us that all things are impermanent.. That all things and beings, including family, will eventually fall apart and die.. Thus attachment to impermanent things will inevitably cause suffering..
This doesn't prevent you from love and compassion for all beings.. Love is recognizing that we are all subject to suffering and thus we wish them all to be happy

The Buddha's teaching on mind and matters are worth learning for everyone. I'm not saying ALL young atheists fit this definition, but there are a lot of young people with anti-religious sentiment, and it seems to me that their attitude is motivated less by whatever flaws religion may have, and more by a desire to rebel and seem edgy and non-conformist.
And I still say that the most wise and mature path is the one of tolerance; doesn't mean you have to accept what religions teach, mind you. Just be respectful.

Well, as far as false beliefs go, it's not an open-and-shut case, and trying to "educate" religious people, to lead them away from their "false" beliefs can easily become a form of evangelism.
But I actually do agree with the militaristic aspect, but it's not just a simple belief, but manifests itself as harmful behavior. I think fear is the prime cause of this militaristic mentality, and that most religions at some level teach AGAINST this kind of fear.

I apologise but as far as most of the major religions go it is a shut case. They ask for faith therefore no evidence is needed. This line of thinking is counter productive for ALL of human society.
Educating people is not the same as preaching, educating them is showing them through an unbiased perspective all the evidence and then letting them choose.
Some of the major religions are based on fear, fear of perpetual punishment. They cannot teach against their own teachings.

Many religions are based on faith, yes. But faith is only counter-productive insofar as it discourages people from asking questions, and not all religions discourage it. All of us use faith in our day-to-day life, even the most rational among us. Not all kinds of faith are religious faith, but you get my drift.
Also, I don't think that encouraging people to abandon their religions qualifies as education. It qualifies as thought-change, and, therefore, as preaching.

I agree with some people here that Buddhism is more a way of life than a religion, although it is religious in a way.
There are Buddhist "extremists" if you can call them that, these are the monks who detach themselves from everyone they know-all friends and family, as they are not important in their afterlife.
You really need to read books on Buddhism, it is impossible to understand it completely through Youtube.

When we encounter negative external elements, we need to refrain from unwholesome thinking and cultivate wholesome ones. It is difficult, but we must practise and perservere. I don't back Buddhism, in fact I'm a Christian. But it's people like you that give Christianity a bad name. supershroom, you came waltzing into this video with the intent of ridiculing someone else's religion while shouting what you believe to be the gospel truth. You started this fight and you know it, VenetianLion is only defending himself. You have to learn to respect another person's opinions.

There are better ways of letting people know the truth. I'm sure we're all adults here, we don't need people cramming information into our heads anymore. You let people decide whether or not they want to listen. The way you're trying to spread the word is simply fanatical and vicious. I don't really agree with that. I like to be a free thinker, so as you can see from my comments to you, I want to respect all beliefs and seek a sort of harmony between them. There is no reason why certain claims and beliefs can't coincide with each other. Clearly I'm not "hot" as you say, because I won't try to badger people with my beliefs. I simply let things flow.

four things that buddhism differ from christianity isthat 1. in buddism there is no god that rewards or punnish you but buddhism present reciprocal deeds. that is, the law of action is the one which rewards and punnish you. nothing to do with God.
