'Interesting'. I'd never heard of Nightwish until yesterday, when I encountered their music by happenstance as it was being used for a 'drum cover' here on YouTube. It has its merits, but in general it seems like just another weirdo sub-genre -- for D&D or Vid-gamers. Is this immensely popular in Europe? Neo-classical metal is well-received here in the States, but by a relatively small audience. The one 'nightwish' I'd have would be to get busy with that Tar chick. Finnish women look tasty! ; ]

@theoriginalbillholt I like the James Bond-esque French horn swells that start at around 5:35. The first thing they made me think of was putting on my tuxedo, fetching Tarja from the clutches of evil, and racing off in a $900,000 speedboat.

@theoriginalbillholt It isn't just a weirdo sub-genre and it isn't made specifically for Gamers or D&D. They have fantasy elements in their music, which is always a delight although I prefer songs like this one (basically no fantasy elements)

They are Not Neo-Classical metal, They are Symphonic Metal. There is a difference between the two.

Nightwish is very popular in Europe.

I've come to the conclusion that all Finnish people look tasty. just look at Tuomas Holopainen.

ummm.. know im gonna be hated for this, but i looked into this and marcelo and tuomas had an interview and tuomas admitted to being in love with tarja. secondly, tarja wasnt being a diva she wanted to fly with her husband while on tour and she was sick and that what made her late for rehearsal and marcelo studied the payroll of the band and it wasnt about money or being greedy as tarja wasnt being payed the most out of the band. on a side note i miss tarja her voice made nightwish for me

This Tarja/Anette debate really should stop. Both singers are phenomenal, and if you watch the press conference where Tarja announces her removal from the band, she did state that after one more Nightwish album, she was pursuing a solo career anyway. So, one way or another, we were going to have a new singer. Nightwish has proved that, no matter what style they do, they are an excellent band. If you don't like Anette? Don't listen to Dark Passion Play or Imagenarium. Period.

If you want to compare singers in every genre together, then you really have a lot to choose from. Because there are many, many excellent singers in existence.

Wow, this song's amazing. I just bought the Dark Passion Play CD today, and I can already tell that I'll be listenining to this song a lot. It's just amazing.

Also, I see that people are still having the Tarja/Anette debate...I wish it would just STOP. I think they're both extremely talented, and Nightwish is amazing no matter who the singer is. I have a huge amount of respect for both Anette and Tarja because I think they're both phenominal.

Anette and Tarja both have brilliant voices, yes Tarja had more range, but i think Anette has a softer sound, that can sound really good, such as in the song Eva. Nightwish will always be brilliant :) Marco, also has a excellent voice! HELLO, HOW ARE YOU ;)

By the way I am fucking sick of the eternal Tarja/Anette Discussion. For real. Accept it. Anette is now (since 4 years ago!!!) the singer of NW. Fulstop. I am glad the band still exists, so I accept it without Tarja. You should too.
