In the past, when it was very very difficult to make waves in the west due to issues and circumstances not related to talent, Philippines singers were the pioneer Asians who made strides internationally. So much talent there, but little exposure and opportunities.

a word of advice from me too...there's nothing wrong with singing your own tagalog songs and making it big in the philippines rather than making your so-called 'better renditon' of the US songs!!! cmon copying is copying in the eyes of others. a good example would be vina morales, i think she is the best in this video because it is original. if its the philippine culture to innovate US songs then better put it to an end and make philippine music industry more original. all the best PEACE!!!

It's the Philippine culture, it's kinda like challenging a song being sung by international artists and trying to make a better rendition of it, rather than creating, Filipinos love to innovate. Of course we also have amazing orig. songs, but on live TV shows and other guestings, artists sing what's popular, and it's usually American/ English songs.
