  • Omg, the description? It's like you made love to a woman like a boss, and than said "By the way you were my first"

  • Every single negative comment I've seen here smacks of incredible ignorance.

Why do you morons get off on slamming guitarists who are far better than you could ever hope to be?

Mr. Cooley, this is some amazing playing, soulful and technical. Great tone, although it's not the best I've heard from you. Please keep it up!

  • technical show piece, but no real soul to his music, doesn't hit the groove, sorry!

  • The 8 people who dislike this video are death squeeze box players from Mars.

  • LOL!!!porn music!

  • Great playing man, i would love to see a collaboration between you and buckethead or Chris broderick

  • His guitar playing doesn't fit the background music at all.

All he needed was motherfucking fast drums, fast distorted riffs and fast bass lines in the background. Then he could easily shred the fuck out of that shitty place. But no, he wanted to satisfy the critics who despise shredding. That's where he failed.

  • @WishmasterTheDark i dint liked his playing either.plus his guitar is out of tone with such a thin neck.

  • Can this guy play.....

  • I really dont even LIKE rusty cooly, but i have to say thats the best playing i have heard from him......................and dont say his playing is to indulgent,...........Its GUITAR NIGHT at NAMN.............dick

  • Sounds like nitendo music from the 80's

  • this is the pest phrasing ive ever seen rusty do!

  • Man, Rusty, amazing playing... that truely was awesome. not afraid of shred, or melody. Good job man.

  • Rustys playing is soooo over indulgent, it's actually kind of bad.

  • I'll never understand why Rusty Cooley isn't a household name. Same with Jeff Loomis. Both of them make Eddie Van Halen look like a kindergartener playing a ukulele.

  • @lancerambert apples and oranges man

  • 1:29 is awesome

  • This use of the vibrato is just painful to listen.... musically it's boring to death.

Listening to that I realize how Joe Satriani is a real musician and guitar genius.

  • @F3FisGoodforYou how are you supposed to listen to it, physically?

  • @F3FisGoodforYou comparing different guitarists, are you by any chance 12 years of age?

  • @samfulfordskates ...you seem to have an IQ lower than your anal temperature... I'm talking about his vibrato and poor sens of musicality. Then I make a statement about the qualities of Satriani. Discussing about the relative qualities of musicians is not childish, it's way to appreciate Art. Comparison is what makes Michelangelo or Picasso stand out. I guess you're too dumb to grasp this concept because Daddy told you it's bad to compare.

  • @F3FisGoodforYou sense of musicality is entirely subjective, with your keenness to show off your vocabulary i would expect you to understand that. For me discussing relative qualities of musicians in the manner which you do is childish. why would i want to compare rusty's compositions or"musicality"with satch's? rusty's blistering legato andfast arpeggios make his music more exciting than satch's for me.the only thing i have gained here, is what i find is lacking in satch's music. how productive!

  • @F3FisGoodforYou

one's sense of "musicality" is 100% subjective, so you should have just stopped pretending right there that you were making a constructive point.

  • 0:59 - He wasn't ready for it either, his hand thought for him.

  • Comment removed

  • Fast doesn't equal no soul. Please, if anyone is critiquing, try to have a video of you showing us how it's done, otherwise you just sound whiney and petty.

  • Does any one know where i can get the backing track he is using?

  • this is not what i call a solo i just call this playing scales fast.. i hate people that just aim at speed and think they're cool for it... no soul in their playing

  • @falco1407 Yeah not a tasteful solo at all. Just doesn't sound good. I hate when people over-compensate with playing fast. I'd pick Neil Schon's playing over his playing any day. Sorry Rusty, you can shred like no other but, it doesn't mean anything if there is no soul.

  • @JLANDIS1043 I love how all the guys on youtube with such insightful critiques on guitar playing are the ones with no videos of themselves playing haha. I guess he should just quit, since you don't like it.

  • @Quikfingers Hey, we are all critics. I just gave my point-of-view/ opinion. I am no guitar god by any means and I don't have to prove anything. I always loved shred and Alex Skolnick was my influence when I first picked up the guitar. All well, opinions are like assholes, everyone has one and they all stink. lol

  • @falco1407 Would you say your songs are soulful? Copious amounts of gain and fast down picking almost incomprehensible downtune riffs that you call a song? God, you guys love to tear people down to make yourselves feel better. Live and let live guys.

  • @Quikfingers i didnt say that did i? i could like blues? hmm?

  • How can so much add up to so little...

Might as well just bypass this and go straight to source, Allan Holdsworth.

  • I wish I could play like that with the flu.... :(

  • lol pause at 0:25

  • a better tone and maybe thicker strings would suit him very well.

its one thing that makes me NOT listen to Rusty: his tone is mostly shit and he hits a lot of notes that are out of tune due to his very very light string gauge.....

  • No music. just a shred =\

  • where can I find the rest of it ? pretty amazing

  • I bow down....awesome playing

  • You can see the bridge pickup is slightly angled, does that do anything major to the sound?

  • @metalrules2791 a warmer sound to the lower strings (B E A D) and a sharper tone to the higher strings (G B E). It's a small thing that makes the tone a lot better, and it makes the guitar more versatile sounding...

  • @PhysioProdigyMusic Ahh i see, i just wondered haha, does make the guitar look slightly cooler aswell.. not that rusty's signature could look much cooler :P

  • @metalrules2791 dont know about the bridge pickup; don't think its angled at all. But the neck pu is; it has to be because the lower cutaway is so deep! We possibly might hear a VERY SLIGHT difference, but not enough to make a difference.

  • Rusty you're a real god!!

  • Me and Rusty are the biggest fans of EMG pups

  • I wish they had the guitar in blood red color

  • @TheFlight999 Im pretty sure his eight string model is in blood red.

  • i live in dfw... id glady drive 5 or more hrs to have just ONE lesson with rusty cooley

  • The best part about Rusty's picking technique is that he's almost constantly flipping you off.

Jokes aside, I would love to see Rusty jam with Greg Howe or Guthrie Govan.

  • Definantly think i just shat myself but im too scared to look after 1:00.....

  • pretty crazy guy

  • sometimes, when i feel like i got better at guitar i check out other youtubers to see how they are doing .... and right now i found this vid and my self-confidence was like 100%, 60% .... 0% :D and i am afraid that if i keep watching this god in action, my guitar will just laugh at me when i pick it up next time :D

  • @bodomReaper89 haha I have the same problem dude :P

  • dude you rock!!!

i dont suppose you wanna send me a free signature guitar lol :P

  • \m/\m/\m/\m/\m/\m/\m/\m/\m/\m/..

  • Tis rad!

  • SO GOOD!

  • oops, my last comment was @ johnation

  • WOW! That was not sloppy in any way at all! Or if it was, I sure as hell couldn't tell!

  • very good! awesome playing man!

  • It was a little sloppy because he was sick & hadn't touched his guitar in 4 days... People! read the description...

  • Gotta love that tone!

  • Well.....I wish I could play like this being sick and having a lot of pressure.

    Awesome control man !

Could you just leave me your hands just for one day, so I could reach "eargasm" with my guitar ?

Rock On dude! You're a real influence for all shredders, like the one I try to be.

    \m/

  • Haha your amazing. If thats your sloppy then i guess thats ok.

  • Sick stuff Rusty!

  • let go the tremolo bar Rusty xD cool improv otherwise

  • Do they do the RC7 with that finish or is it white/black only?

  • yeah, the one on this video is the RC7G and the black and white RC7s are called RC7X and all of these are for sale :-)

  • @medina1 Awesome, thanks :)

  • You could be 1 month without toucjing your guitar, meanwhile i was practicing like a crazy. Still, you would be better lol

  • Fuck I love those inlays! =D

  • amazing guitar backed up with an amazig guitar player...i a lot to eat before i get to that hehehe...goodluck and godbless with your music rusty

  • 5 stars and favorited. You're insane, Rusty. Wish there was more. Your phrasing is really spaced out more here, alongside all the crazy licks. :D

  • I'd really like to hear you do more fusion stuff, Rusty. I personally thought this was a really cool performance. The whammy bar vibrato was really awesome in particular.

  • Beautiful...

  • isnt there another utube vid of this performance which runs a lot longer?

  • I have followed this man`s career for sometime, and this is great playing,I like that it isn`t so fast. Please don`t get me wrong,I`m not criticizing in the least but,he found his voice in here sick and all.Great performance I think, post more...peace,.health,.\m/

  • I'm still convinced a keanu reeves statue will be erect in your name when you die!

  • What is from Derryl Gable's dvd?

  • this is really good

  • really great clip

  • This is from derryl gabels dvd

  • I can't wait to get flu and stop practised four days!

Are you sure that I'll play that good if I do it?

    Hehehe, great video!

  • I think this'll cause most people to rethink their thoughts when they say shredders can't phrase,,,

  • Im thinking of getting a 7string and I like yours the most

  • Nice playing man! just ordered your rock house dvd i hope it helps me to apply licks like these into my improvs ,learning a lick half the chalenge applying it the hard bit for me!!

  • His DVDs will give you the tools you need to apply these fast licks to your playing. Just be sure you're ready to burn the fretboard as much as he does!!

  • Thanks!

  • @MrRustyCooley EPIC SOLO!!! :D:D

  • @MrRustyCooley Im wonder Mister Cooley, Are you gonna release a solo album again soon? I would love to have a new CD of your shredding !

  • Hmmmm..... your flu, unpractised standard still rocks. Go figure.
