  • I think I saw this film a dozen times when it came out. Pretty good model work..

  • I watched every saw movie and didn't feel a thing but i can't get through half of this video without feeling like i am going to throw up. It was probably the part with the little boy.

  • wow all those cows are now dead!

  • @Zellie1994 Free menudo for everyone!!!!!!

  • No CGI bullshit, all organic and with all it's destructive glory!! :D

  • Seriously who takes an elevator during an earthquake!? Morons lmao!

  • I just love that blood effect !

  • And that's why I don't like elevators

  • Drunk people: The only people standing still during an earthquake.

  • The guy not moving at all at the bar is actually living 0_0

  • This is old school but i prefer this stuff to the crap like 2012.

    This is classic.

  • 5:43 That guy in the red hat isn't doing anything but drinking his butt off.

    What an idiot!

  • Use the stairs instead!!!

  • HIPPIES YAAAY!!!

  • I'm surprised that everyone didn't recognize Walter Matthau as the drunk in the bar.

  • I laughed so hard at this movie! XD

  • yes, it is fiction, because the fault under los angeles dont produce 9.9 earthquakes. Yes, it can produce 7.8-8 earthquake wich would create EXTENSIVE devastations, but 9.9 is fiction.

  • @xxxtangerinexxx This movie was made in the seventies. The filmmakers didn't know better.

  • Cook meets hot water

  • the guy from China was like "I never been in a lift before."

  • Poor little kid why every time i watch a earthquake video it always show kids Thumbs up if you agree

  • i was there

  • The cracks creep me out.

  • well it looks like califonia needs to check their earthquake codes...

  • poor cows.

  • 2012 Is better.........A LOT BETTER!!

  • @malcolmmorin Are you kidding me? 2012 was just flat-out silly and so implausible. The california earthquake scene was extremely over-the-top.

That movie was only made as an excuse for a shit-load of redundent CGI.

  • @DramaKaw Pfft. You thought I was talking about the movie? I was talkin about real footage. The whole movie is footage in the future. You gonna die, Bitch! :D

  • @malcolmmorin Footage in the future? Yeah, and Pat Robertson really was God's Messenger.

  • Comment removed

  • @DramaKaw He was...I'm from the future, I know everything: You gonna die in 2012! MUAHAHA!! >:D

  • @DramaKaw Y U NO REPLY BACK!!

  • @malcolmmorin What's the point?

  • @DramaKaw Uhhh...I don't know. -_-...I do like this earthquake video. It looks half realistic. Or something...

  • ORIGINALLY SAW THIS MOVIE IN A HOLLYWOOD THEATRE, IN SENSURROUND. THIS WAS A TRIP, YOU'RE SEEING THE VERY SAME CITY THAT WAS DESTROYED IN A MOVIE, AND AFTER THE MOVIE, YOU WALK OUTSIDE, AND THE WHOLE CITY IS ALL BUILT UP AGAIN ! LMAO !

  • I feel sorry for those people in the cinema, all they wanted was to watch a movie not scream because of an earthquake, waste of MONEY!!!!!!!!!!

  • The reason the guy in the bar was just sitting was because he was very drunk

  • brown eyes 4 shut up how bout u die

  • Why the people got in the elevator was because it's called PANIC and those people thought oh look a way out get in the elevator a way out, but most people know not to get into an elevator during on dangerous things

so I'm telling you people who live in an earthquake zone and grow up to work in a building never ever go in a ELEVATOR!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Comment removed

  • @RihannaMusic101 i agree

  • i mind when this was showin in cinemas , it had multi sensouround

  • The woman screaming at 3:54 sounded like a duck.

  • @oldies1976 CGI makes CGIless movies look like preschool. CGI FOREVER!!

  • did you see that kid fall, i lmfao, so fake

  • @95Navigator lol

  • Die Die Die Humans!

  • 8 minute earthquake?

  • @the1obaseki Indeed, Valdivia's 9.5 was 10 minutes long.

  • In an earthquake you dont have time to think. You go to where your instinct tells to go, thats why those people got in the elevator.

  • Comment removed

  • ! Do not use the elevator when emergency !

Stupid peoples using elevator when earthquake at 4:45

  • hear stories valdivia earthquake of 9.5 Richter in Chile and will realize that this earthquake in the movie, is a pittance compared to the earthquake in Valdivia, Chile, and that that this movie is 9.9 which does not appear more than 8.5 and valdivia that of 9.5 was very violent, please chile veil United States since he never experienced an earthquake of 9.0 magnitude on the richter scale

because their country has not experienced an earthquake as strong as was the 8.8 magnitude in Chile

  • a 9.9 richter? never happen in Los Angeles and the plates do not break the hard way as subsidence, there is a place where an earthquake could occur of this magnitude or higher and is in Chile, with the Nazca plate and South American subduction break as strong earthquakes are always of great magnitude earthquake that fake movie, not even moving so violently as in Chile of 8.8 richter which I lived through that night of February 27, 2010 at 3: 34 a.m. I still have a second comment...

  • Wow they are so stupid to go in an elevator when there is a serious earthquake going on.4:48 - 5:26

  • @serinax9307 Some people do not think accurately whenever an earthquake occurs.

  • How i do love 2 see people fall over!!!

  • is that a film?

  • 2:55 oh he is ok...PHEW!

  • 2:54 poor kid

  • Funny how at the end the guy with the sigaret in his mouth has to turn off the gas... BOOM!

  • its no fiction. But 9.9 is a little exagerated.

  • The Southern San Andreas snaps over a 250-mile length - much bigger than the San Francisco area. When the big one hits (overdue now by 4 years), it will shake at maximum intensity for about 8 minutes. Compare that to about 30 seconds for the Northridge quake. The glass downtown will be 6 feet deep, and the falling shards will cut people in half. 20 million people will be locked into the L.A. basin with no food coming in, the roads impassible, and the airports crippled.

  • Apparently the furniture was bought at Walmart, the buildings were made in China, and everyone in LA has ADHD

  • i bet those houses on the silts would be like the very first thing to collapse

  • Scotland Just got struck by a 3.7 earthquake and a 2.5 and a 1.5.THTS 3 TIMES I HAVE BEEN HIT!!!

  • I wonder who survived!!!

  • Musta been right on the epicenter...

  • 4:49 The guy in the lift is smiling?

  • poor cows 2:25 :(

  • @KILLERCLOWN48 They will be missed..

  • @KILLERCLOWN48: yeah, you're right, they should have been TORTURED INSTEAD! lets be realistic the eaarthquake's doing them a favor

  • hey if seen this movie lol

  • lol the earthquake lasted 8 minutes

  • @Samstorm139 ...I used to think this myself- but the earthquake is not shot in 'real time' ...that is, if you watch EACH sequence of the quake seperately- you will notice that at the beginning of each setion- the quake is just beginning for those individual characters etc..The stilt houses, Stuarts office bldg, Corey- kid on the bike etc....

  • After years of searching I have finally found this. Got shown it in geography and pissed myself seeing the realistic blood scene in the lift LOL

  • Lmfao at the man just sat there at 6:23 he probs is blind and dont know whats going on Lol

  • n oone wants to move to america now :P but i know i dont

  • This is before Back to the Future starring Michael J. Fox.

  • I don't know why, but I always enjoy watching old earthquake movies like this

  • LOL, 3:19 "well hello there, neighbor!"

  • This has nothing on the CGI of 2012

  • strong earthquake 9.9 Richter scale

  • I feel sorry for the kid in 2:54

  • thsi is stupid fake blood

  • This is why I don't live on the West Coast. o.o

  • that is one long earthquake

  • 5:03 did she say "holy FUCKING god"?? :D

  • you hear the bell ring? quite annoying.

  • 5:15 is why i never want to be in a elevator while there is an earthquake.

  • that city is mess up at the end

  • The woman with her daughter at 7:00 remind me of my grandma and mom. It makes me sad. :(

  • Lol the guy at the bar just kept drinking, meanwhile everyone else in the room was scared and kept getting hurt.

  • Should be a 10.0, but 9.9 will work. Stronger than the Chilean Earthquake of 1960 and Anchorage, Alaska in 1964.

  • wow this is creepy!!! is this a movie?? well californians!!! watch and observe this video well so you could all know what to do and what not to do when an ertahqueake strikes im kinda prepared

  • @gr13340

    Yes... this is a movie...

But an earthquake THIS big striking California is impossible.

  • @FreemanJS91 nothing in this world is impossible! i think is possible

  • LMAO the VW at 2:26

  • 5:44 And not a single fuck was given that day

  • He drops the man off the building at 4:03 so funny because its fake

  • lol the guy at the bar's invincible

  • @SonicTheHedgehog1224 OK so, next time I'm in an earthquake, I'm not getting under the table. I'm getting a drink and look bored. That will save my life.

  • lol 0:37

  • Plane at 5:28 if i was on that i would be laughing (only because its a fake)

  • Not the Cows!!!

  • The scene in front of the theater is fairly believable. Not so the cars on the freeway; don't ya think most people would kinda try to stop before crashing and burning?

  • @geonerd if u ever drove while an earthquake stroke you will know that it feels like a speed bump or if u ran over someting

  • @gr13340, for me driving through an earthquake felt like driving with a loose tyre, my sterio was on blast - I didnt even realise there was an earthquake going on until i stopped my car to check the tyre out

  • Seeing church bells ring all at the same time like that is pretty odd.

  • 5:27

    FAKE!

    no one die.

  • Those two people got off the wrong side of the bed at 4:21

  • even though it is fake its pretty interesting

  • LOL

  • Some of the BEST special effects ever, especially for the time..1973-74. Yeah the blood is cartoonish, but overall this is one epic special effects masterpiece!

Beats today's CGI 100 times over!!

  • Some of the most realistic earthquake effects i've ever seen.

  • FAKE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • LOL! 8:07

turn off the GAS! Genius with the cigarette runs into the house to turn off the gas.

    KABOOM!

  • lmao @ 2:45

  • The Cows on the truck go! MOO MOOO AHHHH MOOO MOOO AHHH MOOO MOOO SPLAT!

  • 2:44 Kid got pwned.

  • then run to the street

  • stupid guy at 3:13.. U GO INSIDE!

  • The fake blood at 5:28 should have spelled the word 'SPLAT'

  • 5:45 to 6:30. That guy probably has no freaking clue as to what the hell is going on! He'll sober up, feeling as tho a mack truck hit him, and he'll be like, "man, do I have a headache! How did the town get leveled?!"

  • LO MEJOR DE TODA LA PELICULA "TERREMOTO" A PESAR DEL AÑO EN QUE FUE ESTRENADA 1974 EXELENTES EFECTOS PARA SU EPOCA , ME LA HE VISTO ALGUNAS VECES Y ME SIGUE GUSTANDO TIENE LA MAGIA DEL CINE CATASTROFE DE LOS 70

  • @chpemorad uh hello this was the 70s thats was like 100 years before our time now you have to understand thoes people just put down rocks and stones for food.they didnt know any better

  • @justin19822 ajajaj yeah I know, but search for others Earthquakes' movies like "Aftershock: Earthquake In New York" or the other movie about the Big One... those are from the 90s and in every american movie about disasters I see the same thing, what not to do during an earthquake or a disaster!

  • @chpemorad Exactly , I mean did they ever watched Discovery Channel , they teach you how to survive during earthquakes

  • "Then the earth shook and trembled; the foundations also of the hills moved and were shaken, because he was wroth." (Psalms 18:7)

"And the same hour was there a great earthquake, and the tenth part of the city fell, and in the earthquake were slain of men seven thousand: and the remnant were affrighted, and gave glory to the God of heaven." (Revelation 11:13)

  • wow 5:28 was fucking awful

  • I wanna watch the whole movie now! This film rules. I may have been born in the eighties, but the best movies were made in the seventies and eighties. All remakes suck.

  • Why didn't those people on the highway just slam the breaks?

  • @chapaev36 if u ever felt an eartquake while u were riding u will see why you dont slam the breaks!! it feels like if ur going on speed bumps

  • no "COWS" were injured while filming this video...

  • Great special effects for 1973

  • All you have to do people in the movie is do what the guy who is smoking.

  • 5:28 WTF??

  • 4:22 XDDDDD watch the 2 ppl fall outta the building XDDDD so funnnnyy XDD EPICX2 FAIL

  • Remember kids, never go into an elevator during an earthquake!

  • 7:10 Blooper: You can see the glass on her head even though she wasn't hit yet.

  • @Aquarius199 Caught that. This blooper and the cheesy elevator sequence drives me nuts, but I am not sure why.

  • mooo-mooooAGHHHHHH

  • NOO!!! DE COWS!!!!

  • (((SENSURROUND))) yeah saw this three times at the local ABC screen 1 Bournemouth around February 1975.

Today the Dolby stereo digital at the ABC screen 1, sounds like a vitaphone poor sound system! Not even worth watching the rubbish 3D films they put on with the rubbish Donkey lemon sound system!

Sensurround was bad ass chest pounding sub bass!

  • To live and to die in LA :D

  • the thing i hate about present day earthquake films is they shake the camera instead of the environment.

  • Ha ha, the USGS building.....in the earthquake all the inside of the room is having shelves falling down, uh duh, they didnt have qarthquake straps and precautions in place..?????? lame movie.... Well with the rash of big quakes, it may be sooner than later..... the quake scene....might be acurate...prepare yourself

  • earthquake in Mexicali 7.2 Richter........ that was so scary...... I cried.

  • we just had a 5.0 today at 406 Am In Los Angeles.

  • only idiot would go by lift during the earthquake...

  • The scene where the guy looks out his window, witnessing all the skyscrapers falling apart, has got to be the most iconic part of the movie, pretty damn realistic for it's time, except for the people falling out of the skyscrapers, that glass must have been pretty weak!

  • How long is the earthquake suppost to be?

  • poor cows at 2:24 :(
