  • look you post a video and u said were people can go to get parts for their tabs. i dont know if i went on the wrong website or what but wen i went on the website it shows me cars...is there a place were i shud go to on that website or what? please help me and reply back asap!! im trying to get mines fixed

  • thanks for the tutorial, saved me. For some reason here in Australia they dont want to replace the screen or sell me the part, they just want me to buy a brand new one....it didnt matter who i took it too !! my in-laws will never know what happened to their thrive ;)

  • Thx, uh, for the uh, tutorial, uh.

  • @zexarious Before judging, I'd suggest you try teaching a topic that you barely know and something that's never been taught before.

  • Where I can get the screen and components

  • @lewiscotto You can get the parts from National Parts Depot. See the link in the description for more details. I have a full updated bill of materials and some updated info on the replacement that has changed since I recorded this video.

  • should a used a heat gun for the glass.. it melts the glue enough so the glass slides off

  • @lawnside82 Just FYI, as it stands now, it's no longer necessary to go through the glass removal process. The updated part numbers in the link found in the description provide you with a part number that includes both the bevel and the glass, all ready attached. I wish this is how it was when I did it.

  • can you please do a tear down on the toshiba dx730 all in one computer

  • @mbradvid If you send me one, sure. If not, no...sorry!

  • @revco696 Nicely Said!

  • just get a third party warranty you can't go wrong.

  • At ~9:07 do you mean bevel or beZel?

  • Say 'ah...' one more time...

  • Excellent Tutorial. It looks like H000036130 is $160.00. Unfortunately part# H000032650 is no longer available :(

But it still beats Toshiba repairing it...price wise.

  • @fallout330 I updated the post in the description with the updated part numbers. There's also at least one report of a user successfully ordering/repairing with the new part numbers.

  • @revco696 thanks for the update revco696!

  • what is the point of using sponges?

  • @jawston9 The sponges help buffer the glass from the outer bevel, otherwise, the glass would rest right on the plastic. It also helps to give the glass a softer "feel" when pressing it.

  • @revco696 i didn't catch where you used sponges in this video. do you think with the new part, H000036130 (LCD Glass & Outer Bevel in one) that I wouldn't have to go through that?

  • @jawston9 I can't say for sure whether the foam would be included or not with the H000036130. The foam pieces are still valid part numbers, but the glass part number has been replaced by H000036130. I'd bet that the foam isn't included. You can run the Thrive without the foam, but I wouldn't recommend it for a permanent solution. Thus, you could order the foam separately if it's needed...but you'd take a bit of a hit with shipping.

  • @revco696 Thanks Revco. Can you show me how you did the foam thing? Just instructions are fine. Also, this may be a dumb question but do you know if it is possible to upgrade the thrive's ram or is it built onto the motherboard already

  • @jawston9 The foam is really simple. It's just a strip of foam with an adhesive and removable backing. You simply attach it where it was on the previous glass. There's reports that the updated part numbers (found in the link in the description) provide you with the foam and therefore they aren't necessary to order separately.

  • Great detailed video. Could not find anything about a "teardown" anywhere. I am a noob and got my thrive today so forgive my ignorance. I was wondering if the HDD (which I hear is a slate drive) is upgradeable? If so, do you think you could make a video upgrading the drive?

  • @dominiqueradio It's possible to replace the flash in the Thrive, however, I would advise against it. The flash modules are ridiculously expensive, meaning it's almost more cost effective to just buy a unit with a larger flash. Also, since the Thrive can natively take SD cards, memory is virtually unlimited...although it's recommended to put apps on the native flash and any media (videos, etc) on external memory.

  • Where do u get the new screen and components?

  • oh shut up and tear that bitch apart...

  • can you connect to internet by usb to rj45 adapter?

  • Superb Tutorial!

    Thanks mate.

  • Does it work?

  • @sysyreeta1 Yes it works. I've torn down & rebuilt a number of times and it's worked every time. Just make sure the connections are solid and it should be fine.
