  • O how nice to listen not only this but many other Brook Benton's records as they were favourites of my late husband's-its remind me something of him and our happy 40 years together-many thanks

  • This has got to be one of the all-time best songs. What a voice!

  • Fabulous tune- fabulous vocalist- one of the 100 greatest songs in history. Just one rhetorical question- why is this song not in stereo when "A Million Miles From Nowhere" a year earlier was in Stereo on the VIK label. Just seems strange.

  • On this date in 1959 {Jan. 26th} "It's Just A Matter Of Time" entered Billboard's Top 100 chart, eventually it peaked at No. 3 and spent a total of 18 weeks in the Top 100!!!

  • @sauquoit13456 That just goes to show how great the music was when a classic like this hits only #3.

  • Hey there lonely girl, go on till you reach the end of the line, but remember In your search for fortune and fame what goes up must come down, but I know one day you'll wake up and find that my love was a true love, it's just a matter of time.

  • classic!!! --- thanks for sharing

  • Lovely singer great voice we never hear anymore with the modern crap.

He left us too darn young!!!

  • the 8 "idiots" must have thought this was rap

  • what a voice soooo sexyyyy

  • favorite singer of all time period

  • Wonderful singing.

    RIP Brook.

    You had a fantastic talent.

    Barry Watson ( UK) Harmonica

  • A fantastic voice. Very similar I think to Nat King Cole. Love it.

  • This man has such a sexy, and romantic voice. I am with him wherever he goes when he is crooning. Love you BB!

  • Whatever happened to this kind of good music.

  • What a voice,none better.

  • Brooke Benton was one of my favorite singers. There will never be another voice like his. PS. May he Rest In Peace..

  • classic!!

  • Even if this is not your favorite song, at least Brook Benton should be one of your favorite singers, and does not deserve a "dislike" from anyone.....

  • @bioheroplayer I agree. How could anyone not like something about this song. Truly one of the great singers of all time, no doubt.

  • It kind of makes me sad to know that great artists like Brooke benton are no longer with us- to show us the way

We are truly a lost generation without them

  • I remember listening to this song on the Hi-Fi when my Grandfather got drunk and started to testify about how this was his "Piece!" Thanks for the Memories...

    R.I.P. "Steak Jarrett."

  • Magnificent and timeless!!

  • Brook Benton

    Roy Hamilton

    Arthur Prysock

these three were my mother's favorite!

  • My mother used to play this all the time when I was growing up.

  • my dad jammed to this ... and it's still cool.

  • Sorry Randy Travis....this is perfection. Smooth silky voice of the late Brook Benton.

  • the 5 idiots who dislike this song have no clue what good music is

Brooke Benton is one of the greatest artist ever

  • @sid203 Six idiots as of this note...to steal a phrase from the late Johnny Carson..."may an unclean Yak sit on their Twinkie"...check out another Brook song "The Ties That Bind"...awesome by him...also wonderful by country singer Don Williams. Can we all be honest here for a minute?...any one of Brook Benton, Dinah Washington, Karen Carpenter...could sing from the "Yellow Pages" and we should melt. I am so envious of my late Dad who got to hear/see Brook perform at a bar in Alaska in the '60's

  • Can a memory get any smoother? A rare and pleasing remembrance from high school days........I had forgotten this one.

  • who the heck dislikes this song!!!

  • t u f n Jna means Thank you Father in JESUS NAME AMAN WHAT A VOICE HAD LOST MY OLD RECORD AND TAPE THANK SO MUCH FOR POSTING !!! <3

Obrigada!

  • I heard this song in Boogie Nights, of all movies. After Becky Barnett gets married.

  • Randy Travis's version was great; but still not quite as good as Brook Benton's. The man had the smoothest voice of any generation.

  • @rennyshelton Glen Campbell did a great remake of this song........still love Brooke

  • Best of the best

  • Best ever version of this song.

  • Time matters.Memories pressed between the pages of my mind.Love these clasics.M.C.L.

  • I sat back, closed my eyes, and a tidal wave of memories hit me. Junior high school dance at a church in San Antonio, TX. So long ago. Thanks for the post.

  • my dads favourite. what a voice

    god bless you both

  • what a voice!!!!!

  • One of the best songs to slow dance to when you are a teenager in the 60s. Real artist and real romance.......kids do not have that today.......its sad.

  • Real Music! Real Singing! Real Perfection, must play this again!!!

  • @Aloebunny ..glad you like Aloebunny, playing it again myself. great song, classic! one of my favs

  • I get an erection just hearing this man sing.

  • I'd find it very difficult not to relax when I hear this song!!

  • thanks 4 the music...great performer!

  • Thank You

  • I love this song. The enormous range of his voice is remarkable, especially the low notes. You should hear him sing Hotel Happiness

  • every morning i would catch the dj playing this. then 1 morning he said that brook had died, what a loss.

  • This is simply a beautiful song. Don't make ballads like this anymore

  • I didn't truly appreciate this when I first heard it as I was about 11 but I knew he had a great voice and as I got older I realized how good he was thanks for putting at my fingertips

  • HE MAKES ME FEEL IT INSIDE, ITS TO BAD NOT MANY TODAY HAVE THAT.

  • Brook Benton was FANTASTIC......nobody can sing it like he did.....A True Gift!!!

  • What a voice range, so low, then soooo high! Thanks Brook for sharing this with us!

I am surprised more people don't view this track

  • frankieb2smooth:

You are dead right about Brooks voice.

Can you imagine anyone here in 2011 who could even begin to

come close to a singer like this .

I certainly cannot as we now live in an age where mediocrity and celebrity

is worshipped over genuine singing/musical talent .

Brooks version of Rainy Night In Georgia is the business!

  • When I was a young guy in the '60's Brook was my favorite male singer.

  • if you like this song then listen to him sing, THE TIES THAT BIND.

  • LOVE THIS SONG SINCE THE 60'S, CLASSIC AND BEAUTIFUL.

  • smoooooooth ray

  • Yeah, my Dad used to play Brook Benton (on the 'stereogram) on a Sunday afternoon. The soundtrack to my childhood. I rediscovered this music a couple of years ago...who knew my Dad had such cool taste?

  • Brook Benton must surely be one of the most underrated artists of his time.

I grew up listening to Brook on an LP that was among my Mothers record

collection and have never forgotten his silky delivery of a fine lyric.

It is long overdue that this fine singer was given the recognition that he

    truly deserves.

  • @Rambler195 This man was a real crooner. This man had a voice that was out of sight. We dont have singers like Brooke any more. There will never be a voice like Brooke. Remember A rainy night in Georgia.

  • What a great voice. Imagine waking up one day and being able to sing like that. It must have been fun!

  • 1 of the very best voices, and much under rated voice, to ever grace a record.....LOVE him!!! Can listen to him all day....he and The Platters, oh yea!!!

  • This song, that velvet voice touches my heart in a way i cant even explain...

  • THE BEST VOICE EVER!

  • I love Randy Travis's version but after listening to this I'm so glad I came to the original. It's perfection!!

  • The best version of this song, there is no one who can touch Brook Benton. He was the best with a voice as smooth as velvet. We will always miss you Brook. RIP.

  • The greatest male voice I have ever heard.

  • Such a talented singer...

  • I know it all depends on personal opinion, but when I hear Randy Travis singing this it only makes me wish it were Brook Benton! This is one of the greatest songs of the '50's.

  • I just went back and forth between Brook Benton's version of this song and Randy Travis' version here on YouTube. I know that Brook Benton co-wrote this song and introduced it as a big hit in 1959, and I always tend to like the orriginal better, but in this case, both Brook Benton's and Randy Travis's version are FANTASTIC!

  • It saddens me that this music doesn't exist anymore.

  • @0621mike I know...FM oldies stations hardly ever touch this song or other 'lost classics' anymore. One probably must subscribe to Sirius or another satellite music service to hear this song and other 'lost classics' on the airwaves nowadays. Many YouTubers deserve a lot of credit for uploading this gem and other 'lost oldies/classics' for this and future generations to listen to....

  • @grickard319582010

You should listen to him do "MY WAY " unlike Sinatra , Brook sings it like he truly lived it !

  • Like butta...

  • A #1 hit for Brook Benton on the Rhythm & Blues charts. It was the 46th #1 R&B song in the Rock Era.

  • He was the black solo artist of the fifties other than the Platters!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Syrup over velvet! Your time was the best time, Mr. B.

  • First Class!

  • Absolutely beautiful! He sang with so much feeling.

  • Goosebumps, i've always loved Brooke Benton!

  • I remember my mom singin this when I was a child, sure brings back some pleasant memories.......

  • Marvelous song, this guy should be in the Rock Hall.

  • @mowm88 Do you mean that Brook Benton has never been inducted into the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame or whichever one Jackie Wilson was inducted into? Both of these talented singers were underrated.

  • @msros60 Never. It's a shame.

  • nice!

  • Great tune. Compare that to this:

    Looking Back Nat Cole

    Stunning similarity.

  • @tuxguys Brook wrote "Send For Me" for Nat in 1957. Great be-bop type rock tune by The Kiing.
