Many thanks for this. Since I've been living in Oz I promised myself I'd be back home (UK) in 09 to see him in concert once again-then the tragic news.
Once JM (in 70's) said (something like) 'I just have this vision of myself playing MYNever as an old bloke sat in a wheelchair'. After losing that leg-he aged too fast in the last 4 years. He was seemingly philosophical about all this-and apparently he loved performing-to the end. I just love the geezer and hope I get to see him again, one day.
I've just got sadder+sadder since I heard the news. Johnny Babes is over the rainbow, over the hill: he ain't coming back, and there'll never be another like him. Just hope St Peter remembered to get a few extra crates in! Love is STILL a lesson to learn in our time...
Mart3443.....good answer..not what I was expecting ! I used to work for a music paper in the uk called Melody Maker and once booked the whole front row for a JM concert..the closest I got to him was when he passed me a joint !
He was really loving every minute at the roundhouse, laughing, taking the piss and seemed more mellow less angry than some of his gigs I've been to. Like a wise old blues man with a lifetime of love and hurt inside.
Brilliant. Great sound quality too. Saw the big man in Gateshead earlier on the tour. The voice isn't what it once was but he's still magic! Just wish the sax player would butt out.
Bless im, I was at this gig, it didnt matter what he sung we loved him :D

Don't feel sorry for JM, he would'nt want that or accept it. He's totally philosophical about his physical condition.
