  • Bless im, I was at this gig, it didnt matter what he sung we loved him :D

  • Fell I'n love with this song, sat and picked and slapped to what I could get near it,

And now play it to my daughter..

Many Thanks Big Yin Yer a Legend RIP.

    Glasgow lost a Great Son

  • The stuff that legends are made of! John, you made me use a plectrum, cause I knew I could never pick like you!

    May you never!

  • Il piu' grande

  • a true legend,coldplay,oasis,elbow,take that,kasabian watch a true musician at work

    r.i.p big fella

  • the one and only. only the one. sure touched me,definately helped me thru life, well done john for being a great.

  • I wouldn't cry over the loss of many musicians, but this is one of them.

  • Many thanks for this. Since I've been living in Oz I promised myself I'd be back home (UK) in 09 to see him in concert once again-then the tragic news.

Once JM (in 70's) said (something like) 'I just have this vision of myself playing MYNever as an old bloke sat in a wheelchair'. After losing that leg-he aged too fast in the last 4 years. He was seemingly philosophical about all this-and apparently he loved performing-to the end. I just love the geezer and hope I get to see him again, one day.

  • RIP John Martyn

This just gave me goosebumps! True music

  • We've lost a real great artist! And i whish i've only one time have ge drunk with him. What a brilliant Guy....

    I'll miss him forever, yeah....

    You'll never will be forgotten!

  • John,

Not sure when I first heard you but I know this I won't ever forget you.

May you never lay your bed out in the cold...

  • may God bless a great troubadour

  • I've just got sadder+sadder since I heard the news. Johnny Babes is over the rainbow, over the hill: he ain't coming back, and there'll never be another like him. Just hope St Peter remembered to get a few extra crates in! Love is STILL a lesson to learn in our time...

  • I never would have expected this to hurt so much. Goodbye my brother.

  • I will miss you John. RIP.

  • They do pisexy. You and me both.

Nick Drake and John in heaven tonight - "And now we rise and we are everywhere."

  • I was at this performance - Rawk n Roll Genius!!

  • Aw Fuck!.

    Grown men don't cry,

    RIP. You've left a BIG hole/

  • Turns oot they do!! The worlds a darker place today, but wealthier for have'n im!! RIP JM and THANKS!!

  • God bless his slappy thumb.

  • Great performer, love his music

  • Thanks for posting this great plethora of john martyn music-the last film I was able to get was about 25 years prior to this. Just fantastic!

  • Mart3443.....good answer..not what I was expecting ! I used to work for a music paper in the uk called Melody Maker and once booked the whole front row for a JM concert..the closest I got to him was when he passed me a joint !

  • Mart

    How do you know ?

  • I've sat and talked with him about it.

  • lucky man

  • Hey! The great man will alwasys be the great man..He is one of the greatest of all time.... Happy Daze!

  • The great guitar lion never surrenders. Total respect to him for all the extraordinary music and vibes he gave to us (and still gives)

  • Upsetting

  • I agree...sorry to see the great man so sad....

  • Don't feel sorry for JM, he would'nt want that or accept it. He's totally philosophical about his physical condition.

  • He was really loving every minute at the roundhouse, laughing, taking the piss and seemed more mellow less angry than some of his gigs I've been to. Like a wise old blues man with a lifetime of love and hurt inside.

  • JM always says: "I'm the driver and I chose the road I'm on".....

  • yes not always the best decisions for his career or body but in terms of self fulfillment the right ones

  • Brilliant. Great sound quality too. Saw the big man in Gateshead earlier on the tour. The voice isn't what it once was but he's still magic! Just wish the sax player would butt out.

  • great performance. Cheers for putting this up.
