  • I am currently engaged to MSG Benavidez's nephew and in his Uncle's steps just retired from the military after 21 years. All of those who have fought in the wars and service are heros in my book.

  • TANGO MIKE MIKE!!!!!!!!!!! Master Sergeant. RIP!

Till I get the Honor to talk to you in Valhala sleep well.

  • Every American should hear this story. Shit, I was shot in the hand and you couldn't pay me enough to stick around! This man went threw hell.

  • If a movie was made about this man's life, nobody would believe it.

  • There is so much of this man's amazing story that couldn't be shared here because of time constraints. I highly recommend reading the book he wrote titled "The Three Wars Of Roy Benavides"

  • Today, Feb 24, 2012 is the 31st anniversary of the awarding of the Medal of Honor to Msg Benavidez. As I celebrate my 53rd birthday today, I will Honor this brave AMERICAN and all of our soldiers past and present. Thank you Msg Benavidez!

  • 9 people don't know what the heck they are doing!!! thumbs up if u agree.

  • What amazing military personnel America has. Some of the "best" were in Vietnam!

  • Wow--that's all I can say. What an amazing man. Truly inspiring. Thank you for posting. As a Mom of a deployed soldier, I can really appreciate all of this...

  • 9 people are VC who failed to kill That Mean Mexican!

  • How come I've never heard about MSG Roy Benavidez? He's not just a great Soldier he's a great Human being. Thanks for posting the vid.

  • I am honored & privilaged to have met this fime man and be a member in the Airborne Association named ofr him. Thank God America has men like this.

  • @psychojeeper Did Leroy Live?

  • When I was at Ft. Bragg '89 - '97 I met him along with most of my company. We TRIED to call him "sir." When the officers went back to work he hung out with about a dozen of us in a supply room. He and Fred Zabitosky BOTH stayed an hour after COB, thanked US for OUR service and wanted us to call them by their first names - I have not since nor will I EVER be honored by such greatness.

  • Im not gay, but I fucking love that man! He is a true hero.....

    R.I.P. Airborne all the way......

  • Incredible, words and medals aren't enough for such a hero.

  • wow

  • PRESENT ARMS.. (Thank You Sir) ...ORDER ARMS.

  • Wow, this video gave me chills. I appreciate when civilians thank me for my service, I thank men like this for theirs.

  • fantastic. Gives the whole new meaning to "I spit in your face". God speed.

  • If there was anything in reality that resembled a superhero, this man is it.

  • 7 vietcong disliked this video ,msg roy benavidesz is a true american hero

  • This man was unbelievable. Why don't we promote this kind of mentality and attitude to our children? Why aren't men like him on the tv instead of superficial stars?

  • Msg Roy P Benavidez A Man of Mexican and Yaqui Indian heritage, A Man of Ferocious Willpower and Courage, A Man who Exemplified his life with an Unflagging Devotion to Duty, Honor, and Country. A Man who Intensely Impacted me and Numerous others in a Deeply Profound Way that words aren't necessary to describe the Effect. Msg Roy P Benavidez One of the TOUGHEST, BADDEST, AMERICAN to Ever Walk this Planet Who's going to tell me otherwise????

God Bless America and Our TROOPS

  • This is the definition of a Hero. Rest In Peace MSG Roy Benavidez, America Salutes You!!!

  • HOAH!!!!

  • SALUD!!!

  • I was absolutely amazed by this speech and I can't help but watch it over again just to hear a man of this caliber speak.

  • "Like a boss!"-RobbFiler

Show some respect. This man earned the Congressional Medal of Honor and you post that? Obviously if you post that then you're too immature to appreciate what he has done for our country and the 8 men whose lives he saved.

    God Bless the Troops.

Anyways, this guy is pretty hysterical due to the position he was in. "Only Hispanic-American who can speak German with a Southern accent." South does it right!

  • 5 dislikes!? Must be NVA

  • Wow

  • my god... if only there were more people like him in this world...

  • True American Hero

  • god bless you and im proud men and women like you my boyfriend is in the army and i to is proud to be an american as well as to be protected by our troops blees you

  • God bless the troops!

  • Like a boss!

  • A Great American and Warrior who unquestionably lived the ethos espoused by the late MLK that "Until A Man Discovers Something Worth Dying For, He has Yet Earned the Right to Live.

Master Sergeant Roy P. Benavidez clearly "Found Something Worth Dying For and duly Earned the Right to Live."

Thank You for your Service to God and Country...trust America will never forget your sacrifice.

    David "Rez" Resendez

    Fellow Comrade-in-Arms

    Fellow El Campoan

  • A Badass!..chingon

  • Where can I get a DVD of this video? I want to play it for the patients at the VA Hospital where I am a volunteer.

  • @jvolstad you can use the RealPlayer "Downloader" to get the video and burn it to a disk

  • Very proud of you cousin!!!!

    .

    Jose L. Benavides

    US Army 1967 - 1970

    Life member, VFW post 10249

  • Quote " A war torn soldier who was told he would never walk again, only to rise once more before enduring on the most perilous and extraordinary feats ever to be witnessed in the history of America warfare" Msg Benavidez heroism is of mythical and epic proportions. A Man of 5'6 inches of Immeasurable stature...RIP SIR

  • @TMM22481

That's the best part of his autobiography. When they've told him he'll never walk again and he writes in a dream sequence where he imagines himself spending the rest of his days on disability in a wheelchair on the front porch. Then he determinedly starts his own "physical therapy" at night on the ward with his fellow patients urging him on.

  • And then after entering the aircraft. He base jumped out of the helicopter cocked and loaded, and proceeded to single handedly rape the entire Vietnamese army.

  • Wow, just...wow. Heard about MSG Benavidez in a Magpul video, and saw this speech. Amazing. :)

  • Amazing Man. MSG Benavidez Hooah !!!

  • R.I.P. MSG Benavidez

  • What a video..what a man and what a HERO!!!!!

  • Is there a way to favourite this twice? Also seriously, who disliked this?

  • Very nice. Thank you

  • the 3 dislikes must be from San Francisco

  • MSG. Benividez has earned something greater than the CMH, he earned a place among the pantheon of war gods and will always be respected and honored amongst the warrior class. Its speaks volumes about our society that children refer to athletes and celebrities as "heroes" and no nothing of our nation's real heroes.

  • @nick1979usmc

What beats me in his book is that he never comes out and admits that these missions were clearly compromised. Somebody was selling them out.

  • RIP MSG Benavidez. You set the bar and the standard.

  • Tango Mike Mike! GOD Bless you Top! Rest Easy Now,,We;ll never forget you!

  • Incredible...I can't say more

  • @TheScottjp Well said!!!!

  • What can I say other then Roy is a

    GOD SENT HERO.

  • WTF all they needed was to throw the kitchen sink at this guy

  • There needs to be a Super Medal of Honor.

  • @ chevysmiles your an idiot who has NO knowledge of what the criteria for a MOH then vs. now. Now is even harder to be a living recipient of the MOH. 247ish were awarded for Vietnam. 10 for the current war on terror, 7 posthumous. By contrast, punitive campaigns against native Americans netted 400+ So....STFU.

  • RIP MSGT Roy Benavidez

  • Warrior .

  • Ordinary man; extraordinary American. Take a moment to listen to this immigrant; this Green Beret. What MSG Benavidez overcame in life and during one bloody and shockingly violent day in Vietnam makes today's issues trite and extremely petty. This is worth watching regardless of politics; it is very humbling and inspriational. Corny? Maybe; but I think the words of this simple man ring especially true today.

  • This man refused to die...Absolute True Hero!!

  • GOD BLESS

  • its sad to know he passed away but he was a good comedian hero... he passed some wisdom down that i dont think i will forget

  • this is back when they used to give The Medal of Honor for people that deserved it. Now in days they give people the Medal of Honor to people that are just doing what any Soldier should do.

  • @chevysmiles Or giving out the Nobel Peace Prize to someone just for being a black president

  • @chevysmiles That is one of the most ignorant and offensive comments I have seen. Every Congregational Medal of Honor has been awarded for extreme bravery beyond the call of duty while engaged in action against an enemy. What extreme bravery that is beyond the call of duty have you shown in comparison to the recipients that you talk down on?

  • This is a bad dude man! I've been a Marine for 14 years now and as a service member ai take for granted the fighting we do. However, this dude made me feel appreciation for those who served before me. Thanks MSG Benevidez

  • Amazing story from an amazing hero.

  • A Man. Wow...

  • A true hero and warrior !

  • This soldier is so incredibly amazing and inspirational! My oldest son is in basic training right now and this man is exactly what these young men and women are striving for. I'm keeping this one on my desktop to show my 16 year old son every time he needs and attitude adjustment.

  • Are we sure this guy is even human? god damn he probably drop kicked the grim reaper and told him to shut the f*ck up and push until he got tired.

  • This man is the very definition of Hero.

  • This video should be required viewing for all high school students in the U.S.

  • I just want to say. If this man is still alive, or if he was. He is/would be ashamed of the last two Presidents. More so Obama. But Bush as well to be fair.

This comment is aimed at his comment saying that the real Heros were those currently in school who would become our future leaders of America. Bush could hardly be considered a hero (as a President), and Obama certainly couldn't be considered so. The man has probably never even held a rifle.

  • @tntsoccer21 Sadly MSG Benavidez passed away in 1998

  • Ladies and Gentlemen: THIS is what a hero looks like.

  • MSG Roy Benavidez is one comedic-inspirational badass miracle sent by God.

  • MSG Roy "Gods Miracle" Benavidez

  • Rest in peace Tango Mike Mike.

  • I wish I could press the thumbs up button a thousand times. Absolutely amazing soldier

  • You're not going to find the guy that disliked this video because the good master sergeant here has already hunted him down and slaughtered him.

  • Lyndon Baines Johnson (President when this happened) was too big a pussy to award this man a Medal of Honor

  • I was at this ceremony!!

    I was stationed with 3d SFG(A)!!

    HOOAH!!

  • this guy puts rambo to shame

  • badass...

  • Phenomenal. I kept watching and watching and listening and listening all the way till` it finished. I was waiting for more of this mans inspirational speech. True definition of a soldier and what it means to be a courageous one. Actually. The meaning of a soldier to me is courageous. His name should be in the damn dictionary.

I'm inspired by this and by people like him. Thanks for the video.

    ~}[]{

  • Courage is the mastery of fear. Not many can do this anymore

  • Chuck Norris wears a maids outfit and cleans this guys house every weekend lol

  • @ildr2010 you're a fucking idiot..You will never be a true hero..And will never know what it's like to be looked on upon by anyone that truly matters

  • Hard. As. Fuck.

  • A Real Hero!

  • One of God's prototypes...aka "Factory Bad Ass"

  • 19:40: "That's just too much for one day"

    Priceless.

  • "A positive attitude will carry you farther than ability." Master Sargent Roy will NEVER be forgotten. He is the caliber of a human being that we all should strive for. He was a true American. I am honored to be protected by men like him, and there are more out there, everyone that wears a uniform. thanks for posting this video. God Bless Roy Benavidez!!!

  • I would like to meet the jerk that disliked this video. And give him or her a slap... here is a saying we have in Canada, If you don't support the troops feel free to stand in front of them.

  • @TheScottjp misclicks happen

  • This man is a true American hero. We shall never forget the sacrifices he made to keep our way of life, for it is the best in the entire world. Let all of us always remember that freedom is not free.

  • All I can say is: AMEN

  • TMM...you are the main reason i got off my ass and did what i had to do...thank you MSG. -SSG Solano

  • I'm so excited I found this video. MSG Benavidez was my uncle and I've been told his stories for years and it's great seeing him in this video. It's so crazy hearing him speak about his early life in the family!

  • where are the men like this guy now a days??

  • @philhindu29 they are out there.. just abit more quiet now..

  • @philhindu29 Head up to your closest Military base.

  • @Pete031 no soldiers arent like this guy anymore.so no not just the closest millitary base.

  • @philhindu29 Are you serious? The US Government just awarded a Medal Of Honor to Sgt Dakota Meyer. Soldiers are soldiers, Marines are Marines... Its just a time and a place...

  • @Pete031 bollocks!!!! he is one in a million!

  • what does that even mean...

  • @getsloshed007 read it and it will tell u

  • @philhindu29 Same place they were then... Serving their country, usually in a job that requires sacrifice and a willingness to accept hazardous duty.

  • @philhindu29 On the CMOHS organization website under recent recipients, look it up yourself next time before asking or implying that they no longer exist.

  • Tango Mike Mike !!

  • We few, we happy few, we band of brothers;

For he to-day that sheds his blood with me

    Shall be my brother

    R.I.P. Msg. Benavidez

  • A truly great American. Although I've known this all my life, maybe Benavidez' story will dispel people's thoughts that all Mexicans are gang-bangers.

    I salute you Roy Benavidez.

    From a Vietnam vet (1970)

  • I'm sure proud to have grown up knowing him. I'm proud of everything about Roy.

  • The story of the wonderful brave man should be mandatory reading and listening for all school children in the US. This man is more than an inspiration he is a model of what made the US a great nation. It is a shame how we have forgotten so many of our heroes.

  • @3xthemoney

I read his autobiography. Probably the best-written part is after he's first badly wounded by a landmine and is slowly coming back to himself in the hospital. The docs tell him he'll never walk again and he imagines himself back on the rez spending the rest of his life sitting on the front porch as old friends pity him. Then he starts doing his own grueling physical therapy at night when the docs and nurses aren't around with his fellow patients encouraging him.

  • Thank you for posting this great video of Americas Greatest Warrior, Tango Mike Mike. He was an inspiration to me in my military career, and I made the rank of Sargeant. Thank you MSG Benavidez, RIP!

  • THIS WAS MY HERO! MY DAD TAUGHT ME ABOUT HIM AND I DID MY BEST TO LIVE IN HIS IMAGE. HE WAS ALSO MY MILITARY HERO, I NEVER MADE THE RANK OF SARGEANT BUT I NEVER GAVE UP ON ANYTHING I DID. THANKS FOR THIS WONDERFUL VIDEO!
