  • I've been trying to do this all day, and you did this in 2006. I'm using Solid Edge ST, and I'm trying to make my rotor spin without adding a motor to it. I was able to do it, but then it won't let me add my motion to the animation command. I made a motor and added it to the compressor, but the gears were only moving. Can you show how to add a motor to one of your objects, to make it move?

  • yes

  • yea where did you get all those dimensions?

  • where did u get all the dimentions for those parts?

  • To practice i used to go to junkyards document small engines that were basically already taken apart, then i went to town with a vernier, micrometer and digicam. i took pictures of all the parts and measurements and embedded notes and dimestions into the digital pics. Took me about 5 hours at a local junkyard with my laptop and digi cam but if you really want to learn this is a great learning experience. after it took me about 36 houurs total to re-create on solid works and animate and render

  • ic, thx for the info. i'll try that myself! =D

  • I don't think I've ever seen an exploded diagram of a mechanical device with actual moving parts. I am impressed.

  • wooooahhh thast like over 50+ parts there ...

im soo amazed , mind if youhelp me with solid edge ?

  • did u use motor and motor simulation to do the animation ??

    cool engine

how did u make the parts fly out and back into place in the engine??

  • can u tell me where to download solid edge v19?

    need for school.....nice video

  • Von der rechten bank dreht sich die nockenwelle in umgekehrter richtung zu kurbelwelle oO

  • du hast recht,

the cam shaft on the right side is spinning in the wrong direction relative to the crank shaft.

Falls er/ sie keine Deutch kennt

  • sorry *Deutsch*

  • Where did the gudgeon pins go? lol nice job but, from a Solidworks user.

  • a major amount of parts woah

  • excellent music choice! there is a 'symphony of technology' within an engine... and all we think about is the gas and the key!

  • i like the detail

  • this is very nice commercial

  • I was made a Honda VTEC engine, few months ago in v19(with animation) :)

  • Nice job...

    But:

The camshafts of a 4-stroke engine turn at half the rate of the crakshaft.

In this model the wheel on the crankshaft is larger.

The wheels on the camshaft must be twice the size of the wheel on the crankshaft.

In the animation it looks like one pair of camshafts is turning the wrong way.

    Greetings,

    Olaf

  • I take it you have no appreciation for music that is composed.

  • Beautiful choice in music! :)

  • Nice.

  • wow i really like that it is absulutley brilliant i just wanna no if there is a engine avalible on the web for download plz reply even a simple one will do

  • Nice engine, good job on it. The video and animations are cool to. However, it would have been better if you had the heads expand out and break apart together and in one smooth motion. Not sure if it's possible like that in SolidWorks, but it'd be much more entertaining. Still nice video, great job!

  • do this on solid works 2007... still good tho

  • why?

  • The vid looks good but some movements are incorrect, the camshaft is turning to the wrong direction etc.

  • it runs wrong ? Buahaha !!!

  • I'mma do a better one... good job though.

  • Hello, i also use Solid Edge at university (HERTFORDSHIRE). How did you animate the parts? Ie- making them all move in conjunction with each other

  • Wow! great work! I am also trying to build a 3D v8 Engine of my own in 3dsmax. Where can i find some detailed engine/parts photo? or blueprints... would u share u'r 3d engine with me? not for comercial use, just to see how u modeled it. Thanx and keep up the good work!

  • Sorry man, but its intellectual property of my employer.

  • Hello, i also use Solid Edge at university (HERTFORDSHIRE). How did you animate the parts? Ie- making them all move in conjunction with each other

  • using the explode-animate-render function in SolidEdge V19.

  • Solidedge is a pretty good software. It was used to design spaceship one.

  • Good modeling

  • Pretty Cool. how long did it take?

  • It took about 2 hours to animate. That is not including the modeling time

  • Please. Evaluate Autodesk Inventor ;). Faster, Easier.

  • I agree. I used inventor 10 while in school. It doesnt give you any backtalk. But solidedge is what is used at my work. I used solidworks inventor and solid edge at school. Inventor was my favorite.
