What about multi tasking on android? What about the superior screen size and resolution of newer android devices compared to the iphone? Or the faster networks they can be used on.

Then there is also the openness and ease of development for the platform compared to iphone.

Currently MotionX-GPS Drive is available in the US & Canada. You do need a network connection for downloading maps and routing information.

Google does not permit downloading and storing their maps permanently for offline access.

I would need it to also figure the best route for the stops. Does this app do that?

Arthur, you had me at "search is always live." I'll miss the hybrid satellite view of the stock Google Maps app, but the extra features and overall package present an amazing value. Looks like my Garmin will be relegated to the dustbin.

MotionX-GPS Drive is fully functional on the Edge network. It may take a bit more time to pull map tiles but it is fully functional.

i got this app 5 minutes ago and i was at home when i tried it, turns out it only works with a wifi connection...? i dont have data plan so i wont be able to use it...

MotionX-GPS Drive works with a WiFi connection but it is of course fully capable of working on cellular only (Edge or 3G).

Yes, run a simulation at 1X or 2X speed to pre-cache map tiles along your route. It works great!

I have this app and its pretty good....but i really hope speaking street names will be added on because without it it doesn't make much difference over google maps. But with street name speaking this app would be just plain awesome!

In this version, the voice does not pronounce street names. However, we realize text-to-speech is an important feature and we will work to incorporate this into a future update.

samsiteone: When you navigate to a destination, select the "Get Live Voice Guidance" option. Activate your included 30-day package if you haven't already. 3D maps are the default map type during live voice-guided navigation.

Interestingly this California company used a mount for their iPhone that attaches to the car windshield. This type of mount is illegal in California, nothing can be attached to the windshield as it blocks some of the drivers view.
