TVPAINT is unquestionably worth the price. Its very versatile and full of tricks. Its few shortcomings, (no-Render QUE) / (should be able to use photoshop brushes and filters) / Needs vectors and vector anim tools to work alongside its Bitmap/raster render engine (( could be accomplished with a 3rd party plugin)) and it could use some hyper real brushes like those in Painter11.
IF it had those additional features it would be the best 2d animation app ever - hands down.
For the renders : can you precise your request ? Do you mean you would like to render several project at the same time ?
About Photoshop : TVP animation read .psd files. So if you want to use a photoshop brush, you can easily export it in psd, png etc... and use it in TVP Animation. And after all, Photoshop doesn't read TVP files =p
About vectors : TVP is a bitmap application : you can't open an illustrator file in photoshop, right ? It's the same thing with TVP and flash. =)
Hey guys, sure ide love to share with you some things i think TVPaint could use.
